How to watch Crystal Palace vs Liverpool: TV channel and live stream for Community Shield today

Yahoo4 days ago
Premier League champions Liverpool and FA Cup winners Crystal Palace face off this afternoon at Wembley in the traditional season curtain-raiser.
The Reds were crowned the best team in England at a canter last season, and have embarked on remarkable spending spree since with almost £300million spent on Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike.
All four are expected to start at Wembley today, as they take on an Eagles team who won the first major trophy of their long history at the same stadium in May. Manchester City were beaten that day, can they claim another huge scalp?
It has been a far less successful summer for Palace, who will find out on Monday if they have been reinstated into the Europa League after being demoted to the Conference League due to UEFA's rules on multi-club ownership.
Before then, though, it will be a celebration for both teams' recent successes as they look to get their hands on another piece of silverare before the new campaign begins.

Leeds interested in Milan forward Noah Okafor

Leeds United are interested in a move for Milan forward Noah Okafor. There has been no official approach or club-to-club talks at this stage though the 25-year-old is a player that Leeds are looking at in the final weeks of the window. Okafor spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Napoli, only making four appearances for club, though he was part of the squad that won the Serie A title. He was set to be loaned to RB Leipzig in January before the deal collapsed. Advertisement A Switzerland international who has represented the side at the World Cup, Okafor has been capped 24 times, scoring twice. Okafor is capable of operating as a centre-forward or on either flank. Leeds have already reinforced their front line this summer with the addition of Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer, while they have also reached an agreement in principle to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who was also a free agent after leaving Everton. After coming through the academy at Swiss side Basel, Okafor made his debut for the club in May 2018 and signed for Austrian team Red Bull Salzburg. He made 110 appearances for the club, scoring 34 goals and providing 23 assists. Okafor joined Milan in July 2023 and has gone on to feature 53 times for the Serie A side, scoring seven times, though multiple short-term injuries have seen him miss 24 games across his two seasons in Italy. In addition to Nmecha, Leeds have brought in goalkeeper Lucas Perri, defenders Lukas Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Gabriel Gudmundsson and midfielders Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff. The club are looking to strengthen the right side of defence and hold an interest in Leicester City full-back James Justin. The 27-year-old recorded four goals and two assists in all competitions last season and started Leicester's Championship opener against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, which they won 2-1. Justin has featured 168 times for Leicester since joining from Luton Town in 2019 and has been capped once by England. Leeds get their Premier League season underway when they host Everton on Monday. Wayne Rooney 'disappointed' with Tom Brady over work ethic comments in documentary

LONDON (AP) — England soccer great Wayne Rooney has some beef with Tom Brady after some pointed comments by the NFL superstar in a fly-on-the-wall documentary. Brady became a minority owner of English club Birmingham City in 2023 and was involved in a docuseries — 'Built in Birmingham' — that went behind the scenes at the team that was briefly managed by Rooney, the former Manchester United forward. In one clip that quickly spread over social media, Brady said he was 'a little worried about our head coach's work ethic.' That remark referred to Rooney, who lasted just 83 days as manager before being fired as Birmingham slipped down the second-tier Championship. Rooney has responded to the seven-time Super Bowl champion in his new role as a pundit for the BBC, saying Brady's comment was 'very unfair.' 'Tom came in once, which was the day before a game, which is a little bit lighter anyway,' Rooney said in an interview with the BBC published on Thursday, 'and I don't think he really understood football that well at the time. Maybe he does now. 'But what he does understand is that he's a hard worker. We know that. So that's why I'm really disappointed with the comment, because football is not NFL. NFL works for three months in a year, players do need rest as well, so I think he was very unfair in the way he's come out and portrayed that.' Birmingham was relegated in that campaign but secured immediate promotion last season and is back in the Championship — one league away from the Premier League. 'Listen, I respect Tom Brady massively — he's one of the greatest, if not the greatest athlete of all time,' Rooney said. 'And Birmingham do look like they are getting it right now, which is good.' ___ AP soccer:

Wakefield sign Featherstone front rower Williams

Wakefield Trinity have signed front rower Jordan Williams from Featherstone Rovers on a two-year deal until the end of the 2027 season. The 28-year-old joined Featherstone before this season and has made 16 appearances for the Championship club. Prior to his spell at Featherstone, Williams spent five years with London Broncos and made 13 appearances for the club in Super League last term. "The club has enjoyed some impressive success in recent seasons and I believe moving forward we will achieve even more," he said. "Returning to Super League has been a major goal of mine and I'm proud to have earned this opportunity. I can't wait to get to work and give everything for this great club." Wakefield are seventh in the Super League table with six games remaining and a point off the play-off places.
