"Saw XI" Removed from 2025 Release Calendar

Jigsaw won't be returning to theaters in 2025 after all.
'Saw XI' has been axed from the release calendar. Lionsgate's gory slasher, the 11th installment in the long-running franchise, was scheduled to open on September 26. The studio will instead release another blood-soaked horror film, 'The Strangers – Chapter 2,' on the newly freed date.
It's not clear if Lionsgate has plans to unveil 'Saw XI' at any point. The studio greenlit the sequel in 2023 with franchise veteran Kevin Greutert on board to direct. Yet the film's screenwriters Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan recently told the Hollywood Reporter that 'zero progress' had been made since they turned in a draft in the spring of 2024.
Billy the Puppet, the ventriloquist dummy used by John 'Jigsaw' Kramer in 'Saw,' is well versed in these reports, which he dismisses as idle chatter. The spooky doll promises he'll eventually return to theaters.
'I've seen the rumors. They say it's Game Over,' Billy the Puppet said in a statement released by Lionsgate. 'You all should know me better than that. The game is never over.'
Billy the Puppet is probably right, because 'Saw' has remained a big screen draw for two decades with $1 billion in worldwide ticket sales across 10 films. Most recently, 'Saw X' hit theaters in 2023 and slashed its way to $112 million globally.
Anchoring the series is the terrifying serial killer named Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), who puts his victims through deadly games that test their wills to live.
'The Strangers: Chapter 1' opened in theaters last summer and generated $48 million, a better-than-expected sum since the horror film was panned by critics and audiences. Lionsgate intends to turn 'The Strangers' into a standalone trilogy — separate from the studio's 2008 Liv Tyler-led thriller of the same name — with Chapter 3 to follow.
The first installment centers on a young couple (Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez), who are forced to spend the night in a remote cabin after their car breaks down in an eerie small town. No surprise, they are terrorized by masked intruders with seemingly no mercy or motive.
'I promise that we're making 'The Strangers—Chapter 2' as terrifying as possible,' Petsch said. 'I can't wait to show you on September 26.'
Producers Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon added, 'Like 'Strangers' fans everywhere, we're thrilled for 'Chapter 2' — it's the kind of film that'll have audiences watching through their fingers. Bringing it to theaters this Halloween season is perfect, and we can't wait for everyone to see where the story goes next.'

Jared Leto Accused of Sexual Misconduct by Nine Women, Denies Allegations

Yara Sameh Nine women have accused Jared Leto of inappropriate behavior and sexual misconduct. In an Air Mail story published over the weekend, nine women, the majority of whom are anonymous, gave interviews that outlined a pattern of inappropriate and predatory behavior by the 53-year-old actor and musician. Some say they were underage at the time they came in contact with Leto, who for decades has fronted the popular rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars. The women allege a longstanding pattern of such behavior. 'It's been an open secret for a long time,' an anonymous woman told the outlet. Among the allegations, Leto is accused of asking sexual questions to a 16-year-old girl, walking out of a room nude in front of a 17-year-old girl and exposing himself and fapping before putting an 18-year-old's hand "on him." One of the sources is a model named Laura La Rue who claims that she met Leto at an animal rights benefit in Beverly Hills, Calif., in 2008. She was 16 years old at the time to Leto's 36. La Rue claims Leto was observing her so intensely that her mother noticed. After asking how old she was, Leto also allegedly asked for her telephone number, which she provided out of a believe that he would be good for her burgeoning modeling career. Months later, she visited him at his home. 'I remember him teasing me the whole time I was there. He was flirting with me. He'd lean in close, then pull away, like it was a game,' she told Air Mail. She continued to visit Leto for months, and during one of those visits, Leto appeared from a room nude. 'He just walked out, dick out, like it was normal,' said La Rue, who was 17 at the time. The Oscar winning actor's rep told Air Mail that La Rue applied to work as Leto's personal assistant — a claim the model denies — and that further underscores 'the absence of anything inappropriate in any of their interactions.' Another source, an anonymous actress, told Air Mail that she met Leto when she was underage though she visited his house. After she turned 18, the visits turned sexual. The woman claims that Leto exposed himself and fapped before grabbing her hand and put it on him. Leto's rep shot down the allegations: 'All of the allegations are expressly denied.' The piece also published a viral Twitter post shared by actor Dylan Sprouse in 2018. It reads: 'Yo Jared Leto, now that you've slid into the DMs of every female model aged 18-25, what would you say your success rate is?' Filmmaker and DC chief James Gunn replied: 'He starts at 18 on the internet?'. Leto next stars in Disney's blockbuster "Tron: Ares." read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Rami Malek's "Amateur" Sets Digital and Blu-ray Release Dates

Yara Sameh Egyptian-American Rami Malek's 20th Century thriller movie "Amateur," one of the year's best action thrillers, is all set to land on digital release later this month. Based on the 1981 novel of the same name by Robert Littell, it was adapted by Ken Nolan. British novelist and popular historian James Hawes is directing the movie from a script by Gary Spinelli. Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson are producing, with Malek executive producing. "Amateur" follows a CIA cryptographer who, after his wife is tragically killed in a London terrorist attack, demands his bosses go after them. When it becomes clear they won't act due to conflicting internal priorities, he blackmails the agency into training him and letting him go after them himself. The movie's official synopsis reads: 'Charlie Heller (Rami Malek) is a brilliant, but deeply introverted decoder for the CIA working out of a basement office at headquarters in Langley whose life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack. When his supervisors refuse to take action, he takes matters into his own hands, embarking on a dangerous trek across the globe to track down those responsible, his intelligence serving as the ultimate weapon for eluding his pursuers and achieving his revenge.' The movie has generated plenty of buzz during the fall festival season. Bleecker Street has acquired U.S. rights. "The Amateur" boasts an all-star cast that includes Rachel Brosnahan, Caitríona Balfe, Jon Bernthal, Michael Stuhlbarg, Holt McCallany, Julianne Nicholson, Adrian Martinez, Danny Sapani, and Laurence Fishburne. Release back in April, the movie racked up solid numbers at the box office. Particularly in this modern era of franchises and comic book movies. Against a budget of around $60 million, Malek's action outing grossed $95.8 million worldwide, making the movie a financial success. "The Amateur" is set to get a digital release next week on June 10, with the action thriller then landing on 4K UHD and Blu-ray a little later on July 8. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan
