Remember 'Pardesi Pardesi Jaana Nahi' girl? She became overnight sensation, left acting after falling in love with..., she looks unrecognisable now
Pratibha Sinha's father, Chidambaram Prasad Lohani, passed away in 2024, while her mother, Mala Sinha, who needs no introduction, is still with her daughter. Let's take a look at the films Pratibha Sinha has worked in, and find out where she is and what she's doing these days.
How was Pratibha Sinha's film career?
Pratibha Sinha's mother Mala Sinha was active in films, so Pratibha was inclined towards the film world since childhood. At the age of 22, Pratibha made her Bollywood debut with Sujoy Mukherjee's film Mehboob Mere Mehboob (1992). After this, Pratibha worked in about 20 to 25 films including 'Dil Hai Betaab', 'Deewana-Mastana', 'Tu Chor Main Sipahi', 'Gudgudi', 'Kal Ki Awaaz', 'Mrityuraaj' and 'Ek Tha Raja'. When Pratibha entered Bollywood in the 90s, she was considered a competitor of Madhuri Dixit, but her career ended in a few years. Why did Pratibha Sinha leave acting?
Pratibha Sinha's film career did not last long. She fell in love with famous music director, Nadeem Saifi and reportedly sacrificed her acting career.
For those who don't know, Nadeem Saifi is one of the most famous music directors in the history of Indian cinema. His duo with Shravan Kumar Rathod is considered among the most successful duos in the Indian music industry. Derived by the name 'Nadeem-Shravan', they ruled the industry from the 1990s to the 2000s. Pratibha and Nadeem came closer while working together in the films, Kal Ki Awaz and Raja Hindustani . Pratibha Sinha looks like this now:
However, Pratibha's mother was against her relationship with Nadeem. Mala sent Pratibha to Chennai. However, even after going to Chennai, they continued their relationship and started planning to get married. As per a report in Jansatta, Pratibha boldly stated in an old interview that she wanted to marry Saifi. However, their relationship took an unusual turn when her mother and she organised a press conference in Mumbai, in which the latter accused Nadeem Saifi of kidnapping and rape.
A few years later, Nadeem Saifi opened up about the accusations of rape and kidnapping made by Pratibha. He said Mala Sinha played with him by publicly making false accusations against him. The music director added that Mala and Pratibha wanted publicity, so they tarnished his image with false allegations.

Why Do Indian Filmmakers Continue To Embrace Pakistan Despite Hostility? DNA Explained
Even as tensions between India and Pakistan remain high with trade, sports, and even airspace connectivity severed, some Indian filmmakers appear unshaken in their affection for Pakistan. This has raised eyebrows among many who question the rationale behind such cross-border creative alliances. Recently, singer-actor Amrinder Gill's film Chal Mera Putt 4 has come under scrutiny. The film's release in India has been delayed as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has yet to clear it, reportedly due to the inclusion of several Pakistani actors, most notably Iftikhar Thakur. Thakur, a controversial Pakistani comedian and actor, has previously made derogatory remarks about the Indian Army and mocked Indian filmmakers who gave him work. His statements, filled with anti-India sentiment, have triggered public outrage in India. In today's DNA, Zee News managing editor, Rahul Sinha, explained why do Indian filmmakers continue to embrace Pakistan despite hostility? देखिए #DNA LIVE Rahul Sinha के साथ#ZeeLive #ZeeNews #DNAWithRahulSinha @RahulSinhaTV — Zee News (@ZeeNews) July 23, 2025 The controversy echoes a similar incident involving Diljit Dosanjh, whose film faced backlash for prioritising a Pakistani actress. Both actors, despite being celebrated faces in Punjabi cinema, are now being criticised for repeatedly collaborating with Pakistani talent. Critics argue that filmmakers like Gill and Dosanjh, under the pretext of artistic freedom and cultural harmony, are indirectly encouraging those who insult India and its armed forces. The broader concern is whether financial incentives are being prioritised over national sentiment. Some voices, including actor Binnu Dhillon, have taken a firm stand against working with those who openly disrespect India. They question the moral integrity of supporting artists like Thakur, who feed off Indian audiences while ridiculing the country. As the debate intensifies, one thing is clear: while art may transcend borders, respect for the nation and its defenders cannot be compromised. Filmmakers must decide whether national dignity is worth sacrificing for box-office profits.
