and assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav on Saturday jointly inaugurated the new
100-bed medicine ward
at the Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) in Patna built with an expenditure of Rs 7.5 crore.
Pandey said the tuberculosis demonstration training centre being constructed there will be ready by Aug this year.
The Speaker said the health services in the state were improving day by day and there was no shortage of medicine and doctors in hospitals now.
The health minister said the 100-bed medicine ward has been built on the upper floor to get rid of the waterlogging problem on the ground floor during the monsoon season.
Earlier, there were 128 beds in the general medicine department. "Now, with the additional 100, the total number of beds will be 228. There is a plan to add 400 more beds in the future. There are a total of 1,189 beds in the NMCH now. There is now a provision of an oxygen pipeline on every bed," Pandey said.
He said the food quality was also improved as the responsibility of food and cleanliness was given to the JEEViKa didis.
The minister claimed that Bihar was on top in the supply of standard medicine for the last eight months continuously and now 496 types of medicines were available at the NMCH.
"Before 2005, the condition of Bihar in the health sector was very pathetic. In the last 20 years, unprecedented work has been done in the health sector under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar," he said.
Pandey said the construction work of TVDC (Tuberculosis Training and Demonstration Centre) was going on at a fast pace at a cost of Rs 28.34 crore.
It will be completed by Aug 15, he said.
The construction work of TB Medical College at Kadamkuan in Patna was also starting at a cost of Rs 204.44 crore.
Patna mayor Sita Sahu, NMCH principal Dr Usha Kumari, superintendent Dr Rashmi Prasad, along with others were present on the occasion.

This decision, initially communicated on May 3, was reversed on the evening of May 4 following a significant public outcry and criticism on social media. The Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government had initially issued a notification to impose fees for these tests. The earlier notification included a provision to charge fees from 14 categories of patients, including those with serious illnesses and those undergoing regular treatment. However, the widespread backlash prompted the government to retract the notification, although an official order to withdraw it has yet to be issued. The Health Department has now informed the Director of Medical Education, Director of Health Services, and the Mission Director of the National Health Mission about the revised decision. The government has clarified that all 133 types of diagnostic tests and X-ray services will remain free as before. Despite this reversal, the government has maintained the decision to charge a Rs 10 fee for OPD slips. This fee is collected by the Rogi Kalyan Samiti to support cleanliness, maintenance of equipment, and the strengthening of health services in hospitals. Opposition leader Jairam Thakur criticised the government, calling it one driven by debt and taxes. He said his administration had launched the Himcare scheme, which provided Rs 5 lakh worth of free health services. 'The Sukhu government is a government of fees. New Delhi [India], June 5 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the Dhanuka waiting area at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. CM Rekha Gupta also participated in the hawan and pooja to inaugurate the waiting area. Speaking to the media, CM Rekha Gupta said that the AIIMS hospital was in a disarray, but the facilities have improved in the last 10 years. She also thanked Dhanuka Group, the agro product manufacturers, for their CSR initiative towards AIIMS. 'AIIMS is the biggest hospital. AIIMS tackle about five lakh OPDs annually. Even though Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working towards creating 22 AIIMS in the country, AIIMS Delhi has its significance. Before 2014, this hospital was in disarray. In the last 10 years, AIIMS facilities have improved... I congratulate Dhanuka Group for this waiting hall as their CSR initiative...' she said. Talking about the significance of the waiting area, she said, 'There is no place for the attendant to sit, and they have to search for a place, sometimes they sit on the roads. But this waiting hall is a big facility for the attendants of those CRS initiatives add to the facilities and beauty of the city.' The Delhi Chief Minister also planted a tree at the AIIMS premises as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. CM Rekha Gupta on Wednesday said that major projects worth Rs 35,000 crore under NHAI are currently being built in the national capital, while earlier projects worth Rs 64,000 crore have been completed. More projects worth Rs 24,000 crore are also set to begin soon. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Delhi. CM Gupta thanked the Central Government and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving and completing several major road and infrastructure projects in the city. During the press conference, Rekha Gupta said, 'I want to thank the Central Government and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for the massive support given to Delhi through several important road and infrastructure projects. Right now, a major project worth Rs 35,000 crore is being built in Delhi under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Earlier, projects worth Rs 64,000 crore were successfully completed.
