2 new Bollywood films releasing in theaters this week: Son of Sardaar 2 vs Dhadak 2
Son of Sardaar 2
This one is a sequel to the hit film Son of Sardaar, which starred Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. The sequel is releasing after almost 13 years. This time, the story revolves around Jassi, who moves to Scotland to win his wife (Neeru Bajwa) back. She refuses to come back, leaving him stranded.
He then finds himself in love with a girl belonging to a Pakistani family. He also lands in a mafia setup, which compels him to be a part of the most chaotic Sikh wedding. Well, the trailer of the film and the songs have already created a lot of hype. Now, only time will tell if it performs well at the box office or not.
Dhadak 2
Dhadak 2 is an official remake of the 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. The story revolves around 2 law students who meet in college and fall in love. Siddhant Chaturvedi belongs to a lower caste and is not comfortable in English. Triptii Dimri, who belongs to an upper caste, helps him with his studies.
Later, the two become good friends and eventually fall in love despite their caste difference. Drama unfolds when society comes to know about their romance, followed by traumatic incidents and much more. Produced under the banner of Dharma Productions, Dhadak 2 marks the spiritual sequel to the 2018 film, Dhadak, which was headlined by Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor.
It is one of the biggest box-office clashes, and with Saiyaara still going strong, it is a tough competition.

Four-year-old Pallavi Joshi was slapped on camera by director because she wasn't crying on cue: ‘My ego was hurt, didn't want to do films'
Actor Pallavi Joshi has been in the industry for over 52 years. She marked her acting debut with the 1973 film Naag Mere Sathi. She was just four. Even at that age, Pallavi was sure she didn't want to take up acting, however, competition with her brother Alankar Joshi made her say yes to director Shantilal Soni, who wanted to cast her as younger version of his female lead in the 1976 film Rakshabandhan starring actors Sachin Pilgaonkar and Sarika. In a recent interview, Pallavi Joshi shared how it was a task for the filmmaker to get her to cry in a scene. She revealed that the filmmaker got so annoyed with her that he ended up slapping her on camera. In an interaction with Friday Talkies, Pallavi Joshi recalled the time she first faced camera. 'Back in those days, there used to be a director named Shantilal Joshi. He was my father's great friend. Sachin and Sarika were the lead actors in the film, and it was being made in two languages: Hindi and Gujarati. When I showed interest in acting, he quickly cast me in his film. I played the young version of Sarika.' She added, 'They were shooting a song sequence where they expected me to cry. They narrated the scene to me. They said, 'You have to do a puja of Nag devta and then hold your face and cry.' The 4-year-old me found this very funny. They took several takes but I kept laughing. An annoyed Shantilal asked my father to slap me. My dad refused to do so but pretended to be annoyed at me. However, I knew he was acting. I laughed harder. After several takes, Shantilal walked up to me and slapped me hard.' 'The camera was rolling. This put me in shock. I was four. Nobody had slapped me before. My ego was hurt. 'Pure unit ke saamne mujhe kaise maar diya (How could he slap me before everyone?)'. I cried so hard. After the shot was done, I got up and yelled, 'I don't want to shoot for this film.' Even my father was shocked. He asked, 'How could you slap my daughter?'. Shantilal asked his unit to pack up. I was adamant that I will not shoot for the film. A couple of days passed and my dad got worried. In reality, Shantilal was waiting for me to calm down and when I did, we began to shoot again.' Being a four-year-old, she played the role of a child who was abused by her aunt and was expected to do household chores. She was given torn clothes to wear. 'During one of the scenes, I was asked to mop the floor. I was wearing torn clothes. Suddenly, I saw the girl who was playing my evil cousin was dressed up in beautiful new clothes and wearing glittery ornaments. Looking at her, I began to protest: 'Even I need to look like that'. It took them so long to convince me that my role didn't allow that. Eventually, my mom had to promise me to buy me all those things for my birthday and only then did I resume the shoot.' Pallavi Joshi actively did films until 1999. However she took a decade-long break from the industry after her marriage to filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri in 1997. She made a comeback with the 2009 film Rita. Pallavi was recently seen in her husband's films The Kashmir Files, The Vaccine War and The Bengal Files. She also played an important role in Anupam Kher's film Tanvi the Great.

Dhadak 2 Twitter Reviews: Netizens laud Triptii Dimri-Siddhant Chaturvedi; say ‘You cried at Saiyaara, now...'
With their past performances, actors Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi have proven that they are versatile performers who thrive when given the opportunity. For Triptii, it was in films such as Bulbbul (2020) and Laila Majnu (2018), whereas Siddhant left a lasting impression as MC Sher in Gully Boy (2019). So when it was announced that the two are coming together for the first time in Dhadak 2, a college romance where caste plays the villain, audiences were obviously intrigued. Well, their film arrived in theatres this Friday and has already dethroned Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara. At least that's what early reviews suggest. Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi in Dhadak 2 After watching a first day show of Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi's Dhadak 2, a netizen shared, 'FACTS: #Dhadak2 will not be a bigger hit than #Saiyaara in terms of Box-office. But Dhadak 2 is a better film than Saiyaara for sure. DHADAK 2 ONE OF THE BEST WRITTEN AND PERFORMED FILM OF THE YEAR,' whereas another Twitter review read, 'You cried at Saiyaara? Good. Now watch Dhadak 2 and cry for something real. This is the kind of cinema that actually says something No melodrama. No glam. Just the raw truth of caste, class, and injustice.' Another impressed fan shared, '#Dhadak2 hits you and how!! I can't really recall any recent movie which has been this effective in shedding light on a such a sensitive subject and showcase the brutality with such honesty. Amidst the Saiyaara craze, we've literally lost a movie that deserves way lot more!!! Plus #TriptiiDimri, in a genre like this where she excels, is the cherry on top. Her outburst scene and the pre climax portion is so well executed ,and its literally a blow to all her haters who've been spewing hate for her recent script choices. She's so good as Vidhi ❤️.' Ahaan and Aneet-starrer Saiyaara continues to rule the box office. But it looks like the Mohit Suri romance has paved the way for other Bollywood love stories amid the recent surge in action movies, with Dhadak 2 being an example. Are you planning to watch Triptii and Siddhant's film after reading these rave reviews?
