Olivia Rodrigo Has Been Hinting at Her New Third Album For Months
THE RUNDOWN After wrapping her world tour and a packed festival run, Olivia Rodrigo has made it clear: the GUTS chapter is officially closed, and something new is on the horizon. With subtle onstage Easter eggs and direct messages to her fans, Rodrigo has been teasing the arrival of her third studio album, nicknamed 'OR3,' without revealing much. Here's what we know so far about the pop star's next project. There's no confirmed release date just yet, and Rodrigo hasn't shared a title or tracklist. Still, several recent clues suggest that her third album may be arriving soon. In a fan newsletter sent on August 11, she wrote, 'the GUTS world tour is officially over!! thank u 4 making each and every show so special. the end of the GUTS era feels bittersweet, but I'm sooooo excited for all that's y3t to come!!!! speaking of what's ur calendar tomorrow at 9 A.M. P.T. for something special i've been working on to celebrate all our GUTS tour memories together.' Rodrigo has not formally announced her next album, but recent live moments have strongly hinted that OR3 is underway. At her final festival performance for the GUTS tour at Osheaga in Montreal, she walked onstage wearing a red T-shirt with a glittered number three on the front. After the show, she handed out her signature GUTS rings to fans as a symbolic farewell to her second album cycle. The moment was widely interpreted as her transition into a new creative era, with Capital Official commenting, 'red looks good on you 👀.' She's worn red frequently in recent months, including during her July 2025 appearance at Wimbledon and in some of her other performances. The color change has led fans to speculate that red may be the visual anchor for the third album. Changes to her official website further fueled speculation. Fans noticed the site's color palette had shifted from purple, long associated with both SOUR and GUTS, to red. Even her butterfly logo, previously purple, appeared in red. The shift, though subtle, suggests an intentional rebranding ahead of a new release. While Rodrigo has remained relatively tight-lipped about the album itself, she's offered glimpses into how her songwriting has evolved. In an interview with Open House Party in July 2023, she said she was already brainstorming concepts for her third album, even before GUTS was officially out. 'I've actually been thinking about it a lot,' she said at the time. 'I just barely finished GUTS, so I can't get too ahead of myself, but, yeah, I definitely am ideating. The wheels are spinning.' More recently, she spoke with Daily Star U.K. in June 2025 about how her personal growth impacts her creative output. 'As I just grow as a person, and I learn more about music, and I have different perspectives, it's impossible for that not to be reflected in your songwriting,' she said. 'Hopefully by the time I put out my next album, it'll feel more mature and like a different take on things.'

Jade Thirlwall Blasts 'White and Privileged' Celebrity Over Politics Remark
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall took aim at The 1975's Matty Healy over his apolitical stance. Newsweek reached out to Healy's representative via email for comment on Monday. Why It Matters England-born Thirlwall, 32, rose to fame on The X Factor in 2011 as a member of Little Mix. The British girl group also consists of Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards. In December 2020, Jesy Nelson announced her departure from the band, citing mental health reasons. Little Mix went on hiatus in 2022 to focus on solo projects. Healy—who famously dated Taylor Swift—is the lead vocalist of The 1975. The British band gained mainstream recognition with hits like 2013's "Chocolate" and 2022's "About You." What To Know In an interview with The Guardian, which was published on Saturday, Thirlwall criticized Healy for not speaking out about politics. "I don't think you can be a pop artist and cover your eyes. I saw Matty Healy say that he doesn't want to be political, which I found disappointing," she told the outlet. "It's very easy for someone who's white and straight and very privileged to say that. Good for you, hun!" Jade Thirlwall attends the launch party for Leigh-Anne's "Don't Say Love" at Restaurant Ours on June 15, 2023 in London, Warner Music UK LTD Thirlwall appeared to be referring to The 1975's Glastonbury set in June, during which Healy said he made a "conscious decision" to refrain from discussing the current political climate. "People who are watching this may—I don't know... They may be disappointed in the lack of politics in this show and our forthcoming shows and probably our future shows. I want you to know that it's a conscious decision," Healy said, per Variety. "We honestly don't want our legacy to be one of politics. We want it to be that of love and friendship. I'm not trying to be too earnest, but you can go out into the world and there's loads of politics everywhere. We don't need more politics. We need more love and friendship." The 36-year-old continued: "I know that's really basic, but if you are a young kid and you are inspired by, like, this band or something like that—don't aspire to play a stage or be a certain size. Aspire for this level of friendship and love in what you do and you'll never fail. And I love you." Shortly afterward, however, the rock band began their tune "Love It If We Made It," which displayed images of President Donald Trump, Kanye West, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and more. Steve Jennings/WireImage In 2015, Thirlwall took over Little Mix's X account and said she was "truly saddened and ashamed" by the U.K. parliament voting to launch air strikes in Syria. "So, so sorry to the innocent people of Syria xxjadexx," she posted at the time. "I got in a bit of trouble for that," she told The Guardian. What People Are Saying On X, pop culture account Pop Crave posted Thirlwall's quote about Healy, and people shared their thoughts in the comments. Some people disagreed with Thirlwall. X user @moraltreason wrote: "People don't want everything to be political. Whether it's sports, film, music, comedy, restaurants, etc. It only ruins it." @St0rmShadowX said: "No, i go to the entertainment industry (movies, music, art, etc) to escape stupid and divisive politics. I dont remember paying artists to preach to me." Others, meanwhile, defended her remarks. @MissAmeliaNancy posted: "A queen." @master_baiter19 added: "She's so real." One person, meanwhile, was on the fence. @jvs33ph chimed in: "I'm two sided on it tbh. I definitely agree with her that it is disappointing that a lot of people don't speak about politics, but also considering how big a lot of artists are, I get speaking on certain issues arise a lot of security risks and people who wish genuine harm on them." What Happens Next Thirlwall's debut solo album titled That's Showbiz Baby! will be released on September 12.

Olivia Rodrigo's Two Albums Have Now Reached The Same Milestone
In a little over a month, Olivia Rodrigo's sophomore album Guts will turn two. The singer-songwriter, who by that point was already internationally renowned, dropped the full-length in September 2023, and it became another massive global commercial win. In the nearly two years since the second full-length appeared, Guts has remained a top performer on a number of charts, and this week is a very special one for the pop-rock project. Guts Reaches 100 Weeks on the Billboard Charts Guts can be found on a trio of Billboard rankings this frame, and it reaches the same milestone on all of them at the same time. Rodrigo's second studio effort makes it to 100 weeks on the Billboard 200 as well as both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Alternative Albums tallies. Guts Joins Sour Rodrigo has now seen both of her albums make it to triple-digit frames on the Billboard 200, which is often considered the most important and competitive of all albums tallies in America. As Guts rises to No. 56, Sour, her debut, also improves to No. 52 as it reaches 220 stays somewhere on the 200-spot ranking. Sour Only Lives on One Billboard Chart While Sour may live just a few spaces above its successor on the Billboard 200, that first title, which introduced Rodrigo to the world, only appears on that one roster. Guts also climbs to No. 6 on the Top Alternative Albums chart and No. 11 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums list as it celebrates 100 weeks. Sour and Guts Land Very Close to One Another Amazingly, both Sour and Guts are only separated by a tiny number of equivalent units, despite the fact that the former has been around much longer. Rodrigo's debut full-length shifted 15,400 equivalent copies in the most recent reported tracking frame, according to Luminate. Guts, meanwhile, moved just under 15,100. Both of those titles grow by double-digit percentages, and long after they hit No. 1 on a variety of Billboard rosters, Rodrigo's two efforts both sold a little over 1,600 copies in the U.S. very recently.
