These New York shopping spots just made the list of the best malls in America
Topping the local leaderboard at No. 4 is The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards, the glitzy, glass-wrapped complex on Manhattan's West Side. With million-dollar views of the Vessel, top-tier dining like Estiatorio Milos and Electric Lemon and a fashion lineup that includes Chanel, Dior and more, it's retail therapy with a penthouse attitude.
Brookfield Place, the serene, waterfront mall in Lower Manhattan, scored the No. 10 spot. Formerly the World Financial Center, this luxury enclave features a palm-lined Winter Garden Atrium, a sleek sailing school and enough upscale stores and restaurants to justify a staycation.
Just across the river, American Dream in East Rutherford landed at No. 7. This Jersey juggernaut is more theme park than mall, with an indoor ski slope, a water park and Nickelodeon Universe on top of its more than 400 stores. It's chaotic and extra, but also exactly what the tri-state needed.
And while it's not a New York mall, Aventura Mall in South Florida took the top overall spot—no surprise for anyone who's ever strolled its sleek corridors between art installations, designer storefronts and Florida's first Eataly.
The 10Best awards start with nominations from a panel of experts and editors and then let the public vote to determine the winners. Criteria include the variety of shops, entertainment options, accessibility and events—everything that turns a mall visit into an all-day affair.
So if you've been sleeping on the city's mall scene, consider this your wake-up call. Whether you want your shopping with a side of skyline views, art or après-ski, there's a mall near NYC ready to serve.

You can play free pickleball inside Grand Central Terminal this weekend—yes, really
We've seen plenty of oddball things happen in Grand Central Terminal —flash mobs, pop-up dining, even an indoor light show—but this might just be the first time you can volley a pickleball under its Beaux-Arts arches. From Friday, August 8, through Sunday, August 10, Vanderbilt Hall will swap commuters for court time as Pickleball in the Hall takes over in honor of National Pickleball Day, the sport's 60th birthday and the upcoming 2025 Major League Pickleball Finals. The best part? It's totally free. The pop-up is the work of CityPickle, the NYC-based pickleball pros behind several of the city's most in-demand courts, in partnership with Major League Pickleball and sponsored by DoorDash. They're rolling in the first-ever regulation pickleball court to hit Grand Central, with programming for everyone from seasoned dinks-and-drives veterans to absolute beginners who've only just learned that 'the kitchen' is something you're not supposed to stand in. You can reserve your spot for open play or sign up for clinics (yes, paddles are provided) via CityPickle's site or app. Expect a mix of friendly competition, pro tips and the undeniable bragging rights of saying you've played one of the fastest-growing sports in the country beneath a ceiling painted with constellations. Court hours are generous, too: Friday from 2pm to midnight, Saturday from 8am to midnight, and Sunday from 8am to 8pm. That means you can squeeze in a match before brunch, after happy hour, or during a weekend Midtown wander. It's all part of Grand Central's "Fitness @ Grand Central" series, which has been finding inventive ways to turn one of the city's busiest transit hubs into a playground. This one's also a teaser for the Major League Pickleball Finals later this month, when the best players in the world will descend on NYC to battle for the MLP Championship Trophy. And yes, you're welcome to just come watch. Between the pop of the ball, the polished marble backdrop and the people-watching potential, it's shaping up to be a New York moment you didn't know you needed. Grab a paddle (or borrow one), rally a friend and see if you can keep your serve steady while trains rumble below and tourists snap photos. Pickleball in Grand Central? We'll take that over another rush-hour crowd any day.

This Midwestern charmer is home to the best state fair in the country, per new ranking
From deep-fried Oreos to butter cows, state fairs are an American summer essential. These massive events are a blend of agriculture, food, music and eccentric traditions. USA Today readers have crowned the cream of the crop, and one of the nation's biggest fairs takes the cake. The big winner of the outlet's best state fairs in the U.S. list is the Minnesota State Fair, taking the top spot for the second time. Known as "The Great Minnesota Get-Together," this fair draws nearly two million visitors annually to its 320-acre fairgrounds in St. Paul. Running for 12 days leading up to Labor Day, it's one of the world's largest expositions. First held in 1859, it's a longstanding summer tradition. Expect everything from bison meatball subs to cookie dough on a stick, alongside concerts, rides and massive displays of Minnesota pride. At number two is the Iowa State Fair. An iconic event in Des Moines, the Iowa State Fair is steeped in history and pop culture. It inspired a novel, a Broadway musical and three movies. It even landed on the National Register of Historic Places. With over a million visitors every August, it's famous for its butter cow sculpture, grandstand shows and robust agricultural exhibits. The Wisconsin State Fair, held in West Allis, takes number three. This fair has been running for more than 170 years. Visitors come for deep-fried cheese curds, pig races, live music and competitions ranging from wine and meat to quilting. The fair also boasts a Midway packed with rides and games, drawing over a million attendees each year. This Dallas-based State Fair of Texas, at number four, is legendary for its size and its mascot, Big Tex. It's know for wild food creations (deep-fried Thanksgiving dinner, anyone?) and college football showdowns, making it a cultural juggernaut in the Lone Star State. Wrapping up the top five is the South Carolina State Fair. Held in Columbia, this fair mixes Southern charm with family-friendly fun. It features livestock shows, unique food and a midway full of rides, plus nightly concerts and fireworks that light up the fall sky. What Dean Cain said about Trump and 'woke' Superman
"I am a sworn law enforcement officer, as well as being a filmmaker, and I felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all," Cain, 59, said. "If you want to help save America, ICE is arresting the worst of the worst and removing them from America's streets. I like that. I voted for that." Here's what he's previously said about President Donald Trump and the latest portrayal of "Superman" starring David Corenswet, the most recent 'Man of Steel." Opinion: Superman and the American flag once stood for same things. MAGA changed that. Latest 'woke' Superman Cain, whose comments come amid upped ICE scrutiny in recent months, recently criticized the direction Hollywood has taken Superman, calling its latest portrayal "woke," according to an interview with TMZ. The day the movie hit theaters, The White House released a photo of a fake movie poster depicting the president as Superman. THE SYMBOL OF HOPE. TRUTH. JUSTICE. THE AMERICAN WAY. SUPERMAN TRUMP. ???????? — The White House (@WhiteHouse) July 11, 2025 "I love President Trump. I've been friends with him forever," Variety reported Cain said. "Trump is actually one of the most empathetic, wonderful, generous people you'll ever meet." During a June 10 interview on "Piers Morgan Uncensored," Cain called the new movie's recurring plot theme "needs saving." "James Gunn and his decision to make Ma and Pa Kent the stupid rednecks. That's a choice," Cain told Morgan. "Superman has to be saved, like, repeatedly? Look, don't try and make it all woke and crazy. Keep that character as the way I like him as true justice and the American way." USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Cain and ICE for comment. JOIN ICE!!
