'We're expecting a dog fight you know, when we get down there. This time of year, that's usually what you're going to get. You just play your best baseball at the right time, and you know you've got a chance to possibly play for a state championship down the road.'

GAME TWO: MAY 9TH AT 2PM

2025 Odessa Police Athletic League

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Odessa Police Department hosts the Odessa Police Athletic League yearly to offer kids in the Permian Basin a safe and active summer program. For $100 parents can register their children for a four-week program were children are provided with lunch and a variety of activities. This year children in the program had the opportunity to attend a movie at Cinergy, visit Urban Air, and play a variety of sports such as kickball and volleyball. This program has been around for three decades, and it has transformed the lives of several children and police officers. 'I've probably worked with over 10,000 children in this community over those 30 years, and honestly its the reason why I'm still in police work,' said Jon Foust, a sergeant with OPD. The program also takes volunteers from the community, and teenagers can register as one. For more information visit Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
