Notes: Enters the Kentucky Derby with a four-race winning streak — including three graded stakes — and is expected to be the morning-line favorite. … McCarthy made his Kentucky Derby debut last year but famously didn't want to enter Endlessly, who had never raced on dirt. He was overruled by the horse's owner, and Endlessly finished ninth. … Wellman explained the horse's name in a story by John Cherwa of the Los Angeles Times. 'We believe that good horses should have good names,' said Wellman, a former sports editor of the Beverly Hills High School newspaper. 'We've historically followed the Claiborne Farm way of naming horses, which tries to tie the name to the pedigree. He's out of a mare called Mopotism, so we thought ending in an 'ism' was a way to go. So, we came up with Journalism. I've always been a huge fan of journalists and journalism.'
What they're saying: 'That's such a good animal to be able to get out of there,' Rispoli said of the trouble Journalism encountered during the Santa Anita Derby. 'It's rare for a horse to get held up at the three-eighths pole and to get back in the race in that way. It's always difficult, especially for such a big horse. But he has such an amazing style and is just an amazing horse.'
Last May, NBC Sports announced a partnership with Churchill Downs to present the Kentucky Derby on NBC and Peacock through 2032.
The extension includes multiplatform rights to the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks and Derby and Oaks Day programming, which will be presented on NBC, Peacock, USA Network and additional NBCU platforms.
You can stream the 2025 Kentucky Derby on Fubo and Peacock.
Post time for the 151st Kentucky Derby is set for 6:57 p.m. on Saturday, May 3.

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr. not blaming Home Run Derby for funk that took ‘longer than I expected' to snap
Access the Yankees beat like never before Join Post Sports+ for exciting subscriber-only features, including real-time texting with Greg Joyce about the inside buzz on the Yankees. Try it free ST. LOUIS — Home Run Derby curse or not, Jazz Chisholm Jr. believes he is back. A month after taking part in the event, Chisholm is finally feeling like himself again and, in a small sample size, producing like the hitter he was heading into the All-Star break, at a time when the Yankees need it most. 'I'm starting to feel like I can hit any pitch again,' Chisholm said Friday night after clubbing a two-run homer that keyed a 4-3 win over the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. 'Once it's over the plate, I'm going to crush it a little bit.' For the better part of six weeks earlier this summer, Chisholm was swinging the bat like one of the best Yankees hitters, which eventually punched his ticket to the All-Star Game and even the Home Run Derby. 4 Jazz Chisholm Jr. homers during the Yankees' win against the Cardinals on Aug. 15, 2025. Getty Images Then he started the second half like he performed in the Derby — that is to say, quietly, after he hit just three homers in the event, 12 fewer than the next closest hitter. Chisholm had pledged that he would not get injured in the Derby by overswinging because he was sticking to his '70 percent' approach, but might his swing have gotten out of whack in the process? 'No, because I feel like … in the [All-Star] game I hit line drives, came back to the series after the Home Run Derby, I did hit a couple high fly balls I thought were going to get out,' Chisholm said. 'I feel like I was under some baseballs, hitting them too high but hitting them hard. Feel like I'm finally getting into a groove where I'm staying above the ball, staying on top of it and driving through it.' 4 Jazz Chisholm Jr. reacts after hitting a home run during the Yankees' Aug. 15 win over the Cardinals. Imagn Images Instead, Chisholm chalked it up to losing his timing over the four-day break In Chisholm's first 20 games out of the break, he hit just .197 (15-for-76) with a .568 OPS, two home runs, four walks, 25 strikeouts and four steals. Aaron Boone gave Chisholm a breather the following game, with lefty Framber Valdez on the mound, which seems to have paid dividends. In five games since, entering Saturday, Chisholm hit .294 (5-for-17) with a 1.193 OPS, two home runs, one triple, four walks, six strikeouts and four steals. 'It took longer than I expected, honestly, but I feel good now,' he said. 4 Jazz Chisholm Jr. reacts after hitting a triple during the Yankees' Aug. 12 game. Corey Sipkin for the NY Post The Yankees need that to continue in the coming days and weeks as they fight for their playoff lives. Chisholm's talent remains tantalizing, as he can impact the game with his power and legs, though he can sometimes get in his own way of doing that consistently. 'Kind of had a week, 10-day, whatever lull there where he was scuffling a little bit,' manager Aaron Boone said. 'Feel like he's starting to gain some traction again. He was in such a good place there for about a month, really consistent at-bats. More of that [Friday]. His at-bats were really good. Smokes the homer, but lines out his last time up, controlling the zone well. You know how he can impact the game when he's locked in up there. Looks like he's starting to get back to where he was a few weeks ago.' 4 Jazz Chisholm Jr. singles during the Yankees' Aug. 12 game. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect Chisholm is on the verge of his second career 20-20 season, even after missing a month with an oblique strain and with more than a month left to play. He entered Saturday with 21 home runs and 18 steals, which put him in a select class with José Ramírez, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor, Julio Rodríguez and Randy Arozarena.

Joy for Lampard and Steel City woe - Aaron McLean's EFL takeaways
Saturday's EFL action provided the usual thrills and spills we've come to expect over the years. Former Peterborough, Hull and Bradford striker and Final Score pundit Aaron McLean gave his five takeaways from what we learned across the Championship, League One and League Two. 'Fantastic result for Frank Lampard' Coventry City came out on top of a topsy-turvy eight-goal thriller against Midlands rivals Derby County at lunchtime. The Sky Blues twice led but then went 3-2 behind before eventually running out 5-3 winners. McLean: "It's a fantastic result for Frank Lampard. At one point it might have seemed like they threw it away when they allowed Derby back into it, but it was great character from Frank Lampard's side. "I think it's definitely a statement. Since Frank's come through the door, he has restored belief in that club massively. "The progression they have made under him is massive and they will be looking to kick on now this season." Coventry beat Derby in eight-goal thriller Lampard following Derby County win Steel City becomes the city of woe There's not been much to cheer about in the Steel City so far this season. Both Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday are pointless after their opening two Championship matches having changed their respective managers in the summer. The Blades, who lost last season's Championship play-off final to Sunderland, went down 1-0 at Swansea City, while beleaguered Wednesday lost 3-0 at home to Stoke City. McLean: "Really disappointing from Sheffield United, I think they're still suffering a hangover from last season. "Obviously with the change of manager as well, Ruben Selles coming in, at the minute things don't seem to be gelling. "Sheffield seems a tough place to be at the moment. When you look at Sheffield Wednesday, as well - the transfer embargo, the protests, and the results on the pitch, there's so many things going wrong. "It's sad to see because it's such a big club, when they are winning games, Hillsborough is one of the best places in the country to play. "The fans don't have their football club at the moment and until it is sold there are going to be more dark days like today." Three goals and a funeral on day of protest at Wednesday Stoke cruise to win at stricken Sheff Wed Ronald gives Swansea edge over Sheffield United Surprise package Stevenage early pace-setters in League One Stevenage's 2-0 home victory against Northampton Town sent them to the summit of League One. Their third league win out of three means Alex Revell's side are now the only team to have a 100% record in the third tier. McLean: "Alex Revell has really got the boys playing. What he has done in a short space of time, along with his 10 new signings so far, he's made them believe in the project. "Last season, they were probably a bit inconsistent and that's probably why they fell away but, if they continue to play in the way that they are playing, they will definitely be challenging for a play-off spot." Stevenage 2-0 Northampton Town Alex Revell: 'This is just the start of it' Ten-man Blackpool see off League One favourites Huddersfield Ten-man Blackpool claimed a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Huddersfield Town at Bloomfield Road, with all of the goals coming in the first 31 minutes. Forward Niall Ennis went from hero to zero as he received a straight red card in the first half after scoring a quick-fire double for the Tangerines but Steve Bruce's side held on to claim their first points of the season. McLean: "Great result for Steve Bruce and Blackpool. They did a job today against one of the favourites for the title in Huddersfield. "They've made a lot of big signings, Alfie May notably being the biggest - he guarantees Town goals, but Steve Bruce has done what he has done year in, year out. "He brings together a group of players who are going to work hard. For them to win 3-2, after being down to 10 men, just shows the character that they've got within their dressing room." Blackpool 3-2 Huddersfield Town Bruce: 'We needed something like today' MK Dons 'are going to take some stopping' MK Dons put in a five-star performance to thrash Cheltenham Town in League Two. Paul Warne's side were widely tipped for promotion in the summer and, following an opening-day draw, have now registered back-to-back victories in the fourth tier as they climb into the early-stage promotion places. McLean: "They've spent a lot of money, they've brought in a lot of experienced players, Nathanial Mendez-Laing and Callum Paterson - they have benefited from the woes of Sheffield Wednesday. "They've come in and hit the ground running - Paterson, two goals and two assists so far to kick the season off. "Now that they're on a roll, I think they are going to take some stopping." MK Dons beat Cheltenham in 5-0 thrashing Warne: 'Hopefully there will be many more here' Aaron McLean was talking to BBC Sport England's Matthew Cresswell Get football news sent straight to your phone Follow your club with BBC Sport
