Macquarie now forecasts a 10–12% compound annual growth in earnings per share (EPSg) for FY25–28e, with earnings estimates trimmed post the Q1 results. The revised estimates are 5–8% below Visible Alpha (VA) consensus for FY26–28e.
Nonetheless, the brokerage remains positive on RIL's prospects, calling it one of its "Super 6" best ideas and expects improving fundamentals to support a re-rating in the stock.
Growth outlook
Live Events
Macquarie projects Reliance's EBITDA for FY27–28 at $10–11.5 billion, supported by 200–300 basis points in margin improvement. However, it notes that EBIT may still lag due to higher depreciation and amortization.
In the Jio segment, subscriber growth is estimated at 2% with ARPU growth of 8–10% annually, slightly above consensus, though EBIT is expected to be weighed down by elevated depreciation.
In Retail, revenue forecasts have been trimmed, with Macquarie now expecting a 13% CAGR in FY25–28. EBIT margins, however, are seen improving by around 100 basis points, assuming no losses from Jiomart, as the business leverages its existing footprint. The firm sees only modest growth in retail due to limited visibility but notes that improved productivity per square foot and store additions remain key upside triggers.
In Oil to Chemicals (O2C), Macquarie has made no material changes, maintaining its existing recovery outlook. For Exploration & Production (E&P), EBIT forecasts have been sharply cut, particularly for KGD6, due to higher opex and revised volume assumptions.

The brokerage has also increased its capex forecasts, anticipating higher spend in the
New Energy
segment, which is one of the company's long-term focus areas.
Macquarie's target price is based on a scenario-weighted sum-of-the-parts (SOTP) valuation model, with adjustments made in Retail, Media, and New Energy segment weightings. Key catalysts for RIL's stock performance include:
Strategic direction and growth targets at the upcoming AGM,
Recovery in retail revenue,
Commissioning of new energy capacities,
Progress toward the listing of Jio.
Despite the lowered earnings estimates relative to consensus, Macquarie believes the current environment provides a tactical opportunity to accumulate the stock ahead of a potential improvement in earnings momentum and positive triggers from upcoming corporate events.
Potential risks to the thesis
The key downside risks highlighted by Macquarie include a failure in earnings delivery, slower-than-expected retail revenue growth, and delayed or muted impact of Jio tariff adjustments. However, the firm remains constructive on the long-term outlook, banking on multiple growth levers across segments.
Around 1:30 pm today, the shares of
Reliance
Industries were trading flat at Rs 1,395.95 on the BSE.

HC warns petitioner for repeatedly challenging building approvals in Hafeezpet
Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Tuesday came down heavily on a city-based businessman who had filed a petition challenging the legality of environmental clearances and building-related approvals granted for a major residential project in Hafeezpet, Serilingampally. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice P Sam Koshy warned the petitioner not to play with the courts and stated that they would be very harsh. "Your petitioner is repeatedly exposing himself to the wrath of the court. Whatever be the nuances, we shall dismiss the petition with heavy costs," the bench remarked. However, upon the petitioner's counsel urging the court with an apology, the bench permitted withdrawal of the petition and let the petitioner off with a stern warning. Claiming to be one of the landowners, the businessman filed the petition against the land developer, alleging that environmental clearances should not have been granted, as three out of the five GPA (General Power of Attorney) holders had passed away prior to the issuance of clearance. Zeeshan Adnan Mahmood, standing counsel for the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB), submitted that there had been a significant delay in challenging a 2019 proceeding in the year 2025, and that despite an existing provision to approach the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the petitioner had instead moved the High Court. State counsel further argued that the structure in question, a 14-storey building, was ready for occupation. "This is a private dispute between the petitioner and the builder. By bringing it before this court, the court's valuable time is being misused. Not being satisfied with the high court's decision in an earlier matter filed by the same petitioner, he has now filed the present petition," he informed the court. The high court observed that the petitioner had already approached other statutory bodies, including RERA, in connection with the matter, and had also previously filed a petition before the high court. In the present case, he had suppressed these facts. Permitting the petitioner to withdraw the case, the court disposed of the matter.

Ganapati makhar makers struggle to meet last-minute demand from homes, housing societies this year
1 2 Pune: The delayed approval for PoP Ganesh idols has not only sparked last-minute demand for such idols but also rushed decorators, who did not prepare decoration setups in advance, anticipating less demand this year. Based on the size of idols, makhars and backdrops are specially customised for homes and housing societies. "Vendors are busy creating makhars for large Ganapati idols. We found a vendor to create a small 3D temple for our home idol after much difficulty. They are saying deliveries might be delayed to around Aug 25," said Jyotsana Nadkarni, a resident of Kothrud. "We contacted our decorator a day after we placed an order for our Ganesh idol. This year, the idols are about 10-15% more expensive than last year owing to the last-minute demand," said Harsha Kamble, a resident of Hadapsar. Customers are demanding eco-friendly makhars and backdrops, said vendors. "We had hardly any orders at the beginning of June, so we just prepared a few basic makhars. Bookings started pouring in at the end of June, and now we are facing high raw material and labour costs. We hope we can make deliveries on time," said a decorator at Sadashiv Peth. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Best SIP Plans for NRIs in Romania – Get ₹2L Monthly Pension | Invest ₹18K PB Learn More Undo You Can Also Check: Pune AQI | Weather in Pune | Bank Holidays in Pune | Public Holidays in Pune Vinayak Makhar, who has his workshop in Mumbai but caters to customers from Pune, Thane, and other regions, said 70-80% of the makhars are hand-painted. "We used to pay labour charges of about Rs 700-800 a day until last year. This year, because there is so much demand, we are paying labour charges of Rs 1,200 per day. We are using foam boards and sun boards to create 2D and 3D makhars," he said. Demand for decorations has also gone up by about 10-15% over last year. Shyam Kandalkar, owner, Omkar Arts, Chinchwad, said LED models of Ganapati asans are trending this year. "Customers who usually bring home idols of the same size now prefer to buy reusable décor. The demand is definitely higher by 10-15% over last year. We are using a lot of hitlon sheets in our décor," he said. Vendors also said PoP idols are lighter than shadu clay idols, so customers are confused about the decorative stands that they should purchase. "We submerge the idol along with an eco-friendly stand, so did not place the order for the makhar until the idol was finalised," said a secretary of a housing society in Pashan who did not wish to be named.

Uttar Pradesh gears up for GBC-5 in Nov
1 2 Lucknow: Over 16,000 investment projects have taken shape during Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's tenure, with more than 8,000 already beginning commercial operations and the remaining in various stages of execution. Building on this momentum, preparations are in full swing for the fifth Groundbreaking Ceremony (GBC) to be held in Nov, said an official statement on Tuesday. Uttar Pradesh has hosted two Investors' Summits to date. The first, held in 2018, attracted investment proposals worth Rs 4.28 lakh crore, while the second, in 2023, set a record with proposals totaling Rs 33.50 lakh crore. To ensure the efficient implementation of these proposals, the govt has been conducting Groundbreaking Ceremonies (GBCs) as a key mechanism for fast-tracking projects. "Four GBCs have already been successfully held, bringing large-scale investments to fruition and reshaping the state's industrial landscape. Sector-wise, manufacturing dominates with 62.25% of the projects, followed by the services sector at 28.09%, with the remainder in infrastructure and other sectors," officials said. "The GBC-5, scheduled for Nov 2025, is set to be another major milestone in turning investment proposals into reality. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Up to 70% off | Shop Sale Libas Undo In the first phase alone, the govt aims to roll out projects worth Rs 5 lakh crore, with the total likely to reach Rs 10 lakh crore by the time of the event," they added. The projects are set to generate millions of new jobs, boost local enterprises, and drive overall socio-economic growth across the state. Officials also said that Uttar Pradesh has built a strong, transparent, and reliable model for attracting investments. "With single-window clearances, easy access to industrial land, improved law and order, excellent connectivity, and skilled manpower, the state has emerged as a preferred destination for both domestic and global investors," they said. The state's industrial expansion is visible across several districts, where major investment projects have either been completed or are in the final stages of execution. These projects are driving job creation and strengthening the state's economic base.
