Arman Tsarukyan: Khamzat Chimaev's cardio 'must be very good' given UFC 319 prep
Chimaev (14-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) challenges middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis (23-2 MMA, 9-0 UFC) in the Aug. 16 main event at United Center in Chicago (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+).
A big talking point for Chimaev's first title fight is how his cardio will hold up against the battle-tested Du Plessis, especially if the bout reaches the championship rounds. However, with the work Chimaev has put in with strength and conditioning coach Sam Calavitta, Tsarukyan thinks he'll be well prepared.
"In this camp, Khamzat has improved his recovery ability, and strength and conditioning," Tsarukyan said in a recent interview with Kamil Gadzhiev (h/t Red Corner MMA). "He's been working on his strength and conditioning twice a week, in addition to striking sparring sessions and wrestling. He works with a new strength and conditioning coach on his cardio. So I believe in this upcoming fight, his cardio must be very good. He's been tested every day, his recovery ability.
"There's a device that shows his recovery stats every morning right after he gets up, and in the case he's overtrained, they let him rest so he is fully ready. Because if you show up overtrained or a sparring session, you can't work properly. So, he needs a man beside him who controls him 24/7 and stops him at the right moment so he doesn't get overtrained. He is a very hard-working guy"
Despite the concerns from many pundits and fighters, Chimaev remains the betting favorite to dethrone Du Plessis and remain undefeated. According to DraftKings, Chimaev is a -180 favorite over Du Plessis, who's a +150 underdog.

Browns HC Kevin Stefanski gives assessment of Shedeur Sanders' debut
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski offered a measured yet positive assessment of rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders' performance in his preseason debut against the Carolina Panthers. When asked by ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi about the rookie's outing, Stefanski praised Sanders' command of the offense and the team's execution. He continued, emphasizing the room for growth: "I'm pleased with Shedeur, pleased with the offense... Again, not perfect, plenty that we can work on. But I thought the guys did a really nice job. Shedeur and operating. The guys' making plays, so again, a ton to teach on." Sanders, who finished the game with a stat line of 14-of-23 for 138 yards and two touchdowns, with 19 rushing yards, had given himself a self-critical "C+" grade immediately after the game. Stefanski's comments echo the rookie's own sentiment of not being perfect but also highlight a solid foundation to build upon. The coach went on to say, "He'll get a ton of reps next week as well," as sourced by Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland. Despite Sanders' impressive debut, this is just the beginning of his development in Cleveland, and with the team traveling to play the reigning Super Bowl champions next Saturday, his hardest trials are surely ahead.

UFC on ESPN 72: Roman Dolidze vs. Anthony Hernandez odds, picks and predictions
In a 5-round middleweight bout in the main event, Roman Dolidze and Anthony Hernandez meet Saturday at UFC on ESPN 72 -- also known as UFC Vegas 109 -- at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The prelims begin at 4 p.m. ET (ESPN / ESPN+), followed by the main card at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN / ESPN+). Their fight is expected to start at approximately 9:45 p.m. ET. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's UFC odds around the UFC on ESPN 72: Dolidze vs. Hernandez odds, and make our expert UFC picks and predictions. Records: Dolidze (15-3-0) | Hernandez (14-2-0) Dolidze has bounced back from consecutive decision losses to Marvin Vettori and Nassourdine Imavov, posting 3 straight victories, including a revenge win over Vettori by unanimous decision last time out in the main event at a Fight Night at the UFC's Apex. The Georgian fighter has finished inside the distance just once in the past 5 outings, with the lone finish a Round 1 KO/TKO against Kevin Holland at UFC 307. For Hernandez, he is working on a 7-bout win streak, including a unanimous-decision victory over Brendan Allen in late February at a Fight Night in Seattle. That was a rematch of a title fight, which he won, at LFA 32 back in January 2018. He has 4 finishes in the past 5 fights, while going the distance just twice in 10 fights at the UFC level. Dolidze has a slight 1-inch reach advantage, while Hernandez holds a 4.50-to-3.58 significant strikes landed per minute lead. Hernandez is much more accurate on those strikes, too, posting a 68.56% percentage, to just 48.80% for Dolidze. Hernandez also has a superb 6.27 takedown average, to just 1.11 for Dolidze. The heavy favorite Hernandez has a stellar 1.95 submission average. Watch this card with ESPN+ by signing up here. UFC on ESPN 72: Dolidze vs. Hernandez picks and predictions Fight result (2-way line or moneyline) Hernandez (-300) will cost you 3 times your potential return, and that's just way too much risk on the 2-way moneyline for a standalone bet. If you were to toss this into a multi-leg parlay with at least 4 or 5 other picks, that would certainly mitigate the risk. If you really like Hernandez, who has been dominant since joining the UFC, let's get a little more specific. Looking to the method of victory, taking HERNANDEZ BY KO/TKO, DQ OR SUBMISSION (+100) at even-money is a good value. While Dolidze has never been submitted at any level, Hernandez is 8-1, and he'll try to get the fight to the canvas early and often. Play our free daily Pick'em Challenge and win! Play now! Over/Under As far as the 'How Will the Fight End?' props, picking SUBMISSION (+150) might be worth a look. Hernandez is 8-1 across 16 professional bouts across all competitions. While Dolidze has never been submitted, the ground game isn't his strong suit, either. If you really want to get crazy, HERNANDEZ BY SUBMISSION IN ROUND 2 (+1000) and HERNANDEZ BY SUBMISSION IN ROUND 3 (+1100) is worth a look in a 2-round block. Sure, you'll lose 1 of those ends, but if he submits Dolidze in Rounds 2 or 3, you can multiply up by at least 10 times. It's worth a roll of the dice. UNDER 3.5 ROUNDS (+100) is a solid play at even-money, and that's a good bet if you feel like a finish is incoming. Visit MMA Junkie for more fight news and analysis. Andre Fili vs. Christian Rodriguez prediction, pick, start time for UFC on ESPN 71
Andre Fili and Christian Rodriguez meet on the main card of UFC on ESPN 72 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom. Last event: 4-2 UFC main cards, 2025: 76-58-1 Andre Fili vs. Christian Rodriguez UFC on ESPN 72 preview Fili (24-12 MMA, 12-11 UFC) has traded wins and losses over his past seven appearances, and comes into this one after a first-round submission loss to Melquizael Costa in February. Prior to that, "Touchy" won a close split nod over Cub Swanson last June at UFC 303, which took Fight of the Night honors. ... Rodriguez (12-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) also fell victim to Costa this year, losing a unanimous decision in March. Before that, Rodriguez was on the right side of the judges' cards in a unanimous nod over Austin Bashi in January. Andre Fili vs. Christian Rodriguez UFC on ESPN 72 expert pick, prediction Filling out the main card is a solid featherweight fight between Andre Fili and Christian Rodriguez. I'm a big fan of both fighters, so picking this one was difficult. On one hand, it's nice to see Rodriguez getting some love from the oddsmakers and public alike after coming in as some unassuming talent that most wrote off. That said, it seems like Rodriguez is built to beat a specific kind of fighter, all while struggling against similar archetypes to Fili. I know Fili's last loss was not a good look, but it's usually only dynamic athletes and finishers who have blown the 35-year-old out of the water – and I don't know if Rodriguez fits that bill. Add in Fili's ability to make fights close with his criminally underrated skill set, and I can't help but take a shot on him in this spot. The pick is Fili to edge out the scorecards in what should be a competitive fight from start to finish. Andre Fili vs. Christian Rodriguez UFC on ESPN 72 odds The oddsmakers and the public favor the younger fighter, listing Rodriguez -245 and Fili +194 via FanDuel. Andre Fili vs. Christian Rodriguez UFC on ESPN 72 start time, how to watch Fili and Rodriguez are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 8:10 p.m. ET. The fight broadcasts live on ESPN and streams on ESPN+.
