Passengers have been left stranded on a 'boiling' train after it reportedly collided with a van on a level crossing 'at high speed'.
The train hit 'an obstruction on the track' at Lower Road in Teynham, Kent, according to Southeastern Railway.
'On the train home from Margate and it's just hit a van head on,' a passenger wrote on Facebook. 'Sent it flipping.'
In another post, an eyewitness claimed the train was travelling at 90mph when the collision occurred.
The van reportedly caught fire following the 'high speed' crash.
An air ambulance and ambulance are in attendance at the scene.
Passengers stranded on the train quickly took to social media to alert Southeastern Railway of the hot conditions onboard.
'Any chance you can turn on the AC?' one passenger asked. 'It's getting boiling on this train.'
Another wrote: 'Are passengers going to be let off the train? The train is getting very warm and passengers are feeling unwell.'
'A plan is being worked on to allow passengers to exit as soon as possible,' Southeastern Railway replied. 'However, we don't have an exact time for when that will be.'
Thankfully, the train doors were opened just before 2pm this afternoon.
In a post on X, Southeastern Railway said they are 'still waiting on confirmation of the severity of the incident'.
Disruption between Canterbury East and London Victoria is expected until 6pm.
In the meantime, replacement buses are running between Gillingham and Faversham as well as Sittingbourne and Sheerness.
'Use your ticket at no extra cost on Fastrack buses between Ebbsfleet & Gravesend ,' a spokesperson for Southeastern Railway advised.
Steve White, the Managing Director of Southeastern Railway, wrote on X: 'The @Se_Railway is closed near Teynham following a train hitting a van on a level crossing.
'Replacement buses are operating between Gillingham & Faversham and Sheerness & Sittingbourne.
'We are working with the emergency services.'
MailOnline has contacted Southeastern Railway for comment.

5 of the best climbing plants to transform your garden including fragrant flower that blooms for six months of the year

WANT to add a dash of colour into your garden but aren't sure where to begin? Climbing plants are a great option if you're low on space and want to maximise the plants you can have. 2 2 Speaking to Good Housekeeping, gold-winning Chelsea Flower Show designer Joe Carey, who co-designs with his wife, Laura at Carey Garden Design Studio shared five of the best climbing plants to add to your space. Common Honeysuckle A great choice if you want something relatively low-maintenance that can also survive the grey skies of a British summer? The gardening whizz recommended honeysuckle for the best of both worlds. He explained: "As a UK native, common honeysuckle is really well suited to UK gardens, and we love it; it has such a wonderful scent." Climbing Hydrangeas For more shady gardens, climbing hydrangeas are a great pick. According to Joe, they're both gorgeous during the summer months when they flower, but the seed heads also look great in autumn. Although it might not be the best choice for chalky soil, it will thrive in a spot with plenty of space to grow, he added. Clematis Perfect for sunny spots which are usually overbearing for plants, varieties of clematis can weather it all. He added that his favourites include clematis ' Frances Rivis ' and clematis cirrhosa var. balearica, - but of course there are plenty of options out there. Not only that, but some clematis, like the 'Sugar Sweet' hybrids and 'montana' types, can start blooming as early as March and continue into November, meaning you can enjoy them much longer than other blooms. Kids will have hours of fun in the garden with The Range's bargain buy - it also lights up, plays music & is on sale Climbing roses On the hunt for something more traditional, look no further. Joe said his personal favourites are the Rosa 'Wedding Day' type: "I prefer the single flowers because they look more like our native roses and bees can access the pollen more easily." However, for larger spaces, a 'rambling' variety might be the best pick. Star Jasmine And if you want some more greenery in your garden, Star Jasmine could be just what you're looking for. Not only does it have evergreen foliage, but when it does bloom the scent is stunning too, the pro explained. Simply pop them in a sunny spot and they'll grow fast and thrive.

Major incident declared after coach crashes in Somerset on way back from school trip

A major incident has been declared after a coach bringing children back from a school trip crashed near Minehead, Somerset. Emergency services are responding to a collision on the A396 Cutcombe Hill, between Wheddon Cross and Timbercombe, according to Avon and Somerset Police. There have been a number of casualties who have been taken to hospital. The coach, which had 60-70 people on board, reportedly left the road near the junction with Ashwell Lane and Steart Lane around 3pm today. It had been heading to Minehead Middle School at the time. The force said most of the passengers have been taken off the coach. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were working to free the remaining occupants and South Western Ambulance Service are also on the scene, said police. Peter Prior-Sankey, director of coach operator Ridlers, told Sky News he "was made aware of an incident involving one of our 70-seater vehicles at about 3.15pm this afternoon". "We have since been liaising with both the school, and the emergency services, while we try to understand the extent of the incident," he said. "Everyone within the Ridlers team is of course deeply concerned and anxious to find out more detail - particularly concerning the welfare of the driver and passengers. "While we wait for further information from police and other emergency teams, our hearts of course go out to the school pupils and to our driver. "We will be doing everything possible to understand what has happened." Avon and Somerset Police said: "The large majority of passengers have been taken to a rest centre in Wheddon Cross and we are working with the school to help them return at the earliest opportunity. "Officers are at the school to help with that process, and we would ask any parents to please head there." The A396 remains closed and the force is asking people to avoid the area. In a post on X, local MP Rachel Gilmour said: "I have heard news about a distressing road traffic incident around Wheddon Cross this afternoon. "Emergency services are present, so please give them space to work. My thoughts are with all involved in the incident." Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander said she is "aware of the serious incident" and "receiving regular updates on the situation". Please refresh the page for the latest version.
