Two-day photography workshop held at Seneca Rocks
Desai told 12 News that the idea for the workshop began a few years ago after several slackliners, who'd been coming to Seneca Rocks for multiple years, ran into the photographers at Reflection in a Pool.
'They had a vision that's been done in the slackline community before by a famous slackliner named Dean Potter,' he said.
Desai added that the purpose of the workshop is to put a slackline in front of the moon and get a slackliner in silhouette as they're in front of the moon. These photos were taken from a geologic formation at Seneca Rocks that's known by many as 'Gunsight Notch.'
'It's just this really unusual trifecta or possibly even more factors than just three to make it come true,' said Desai. 'So over the years, we planned and we tried. We were successful once before and now we got to a place where we finally feel like we've got the system dialed and we can reproducibly create the image again and again with slight artistic variations, based on whoever the photographer is.'
Desai told 12 News that the people involved in this event have put years into it, and that with the Gunsight Notch rock in particular, it's important for a participant to be familiar with the rock type, the routes, the approach and the exit, as well as all of the other information that's required to participate safely.
According to Desai, it's also important to be in enough physical fitness to be able to carry the equipment, have enough know-how to operate the equipment safely, as well as have the communication and teamwork skills necessary to do the exercise with 'trust and honesty and humility.'

'At the end of the day, the most important thing is to stay safe,' said Desai. 'We're tethered in the entire time we're going up, setting it up, doing the thing and coming down. So if we're not on top of that, we can't continue to do it in the future.'
At Seneca Rocks, Desai said that the predominant type of climbing that's used is traditional or 'trad climbing.' According to him, this just describes climbing that utilizes a minimal use of gear that is permanently fixed into the rocks.
'We're very fortunate that we can walk to North Peak using the tourist trail that's maintained,' Desai said. 'Then we use climbing gear essentially to safely both scramble—which is a type of not vertical climbing, but more horizontal—as well as rappel down to where we need to be directly in that Gunsight Notch.'
According to Desai, they use a variety of forms of climbing techniques and equipment once they're atop the Gunsight Notch. He added that they primarily use slackline-specific purpose-built equipment for the actual slacklining portion of the activity.
Desai was inspired to put together an event like this by the people that initially got him into slacklining. He told 12 News that the first slackline he got on that was leashed was actually a highline at the end of Smoke Hole North Fork Mountain, adding that he and his friends still explore there to this day.
'There is a very much teamwork element to the activity that no one can do this alone,' said Desai. 'And why would you want to? So the more that you spend time with people in these circumstances—very intense, high risk, high reward and ultimately basic to the human condition, you end up with just ultimately relationships that you're just like 'man, what can we do outside of slacklining?''
Desai works with his team of slackliners at Fourth Moon Camp's property, which can be found behind Seneca Rocks just off of Roy Gap Road. 'We've planted here for life to build together some permanent vestige of what we experienced in the slackline community and our growth in slackline,' he added.

'We're not just about slacklining, we want people outside and that's what I was inspired to do,' said Desai. He told 12 News that he used to work indoors during his past, but he found a new passion through slacklining, adding that he feels he's bringing health and wellness to people on a regular basis.

Countdown is on: One year until 2026 FIFA World Cup comes to Massachusetts
BOSTON (WPRI) — With a year to go until the 2026 FIFA World Cup, officials in Boston unveiled a countdown clock at Faneuil Hall. The international soccer tournament will be played in 16 host cities, including Boston. Seven games will be held at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro from June 13 to July 9, including a quarterfinal matchup. The stadium is slated to undergo extensive renovations ahead of the tournament and will temporarily be named 'Boston Stadium' for the World Cup matches. Currently, only New York and New Jersey are the closest base camp options to New England. A FIFA spokesperson told 12 News that more options will be announced later this year. Restaurant Road Trip: Joan + Joe Coffee
MORGANTOWN, (WBOY) — Joan + Joe Coffee has made its way from the eastern panhandle of Charles Town to the heart of West Virginia—Morgantown, to share its homemade coffee, sandwiches, and baked goods with everyone in the region. Owners Veron and Duncan Ennis created the establishment out of their own love of cold brew, sharing their first few test runs with friends and members of their church before realizing what a miracle they had on their hands. From there, Joan + Joe Coffee came to fruition and expanded into creating unique specialty drinks that your taste buds wouldn't believe. 12 News spoke with both Veron and Duncan about what they believe to be the staple of their restaurant. 'It all comes back, I think, to our cold brew. We sell it by the gallon, half gallon, we even serve it hot. So cold brew served hot is something we really kind of specialize in,' Duncan said. 'All you have to do is heat it up, and it doesn't increase the acidity because it's already pulled off the grounds. So, for a really quick, easy cup of smooth coffee, you could heat it however you want. There's no mess and it's delicious,' Veron said. Many of our customers even say it's the only coffee they can drink without adding cream or sugar to it, it's just that good,' Duncan said. To go with your coffee is an assortment of goods, including a bacon jam sandwich with turkey and mayo, a turkey sausage egg and cheese on a croissant bun, and of course, a variety of different sweets like a crème brulé donut, berry tarts and chocolate croissants. But it isn't just the food that makes the restaurant so special. 12 News also spoke with Duncan and Veron on what sets Joan + Joe Coffee apart from other establishments. 'We want to be this place that people can come in and they kind of breathe and say, 'this is nice, I want to be here. I want to spend time here,' and then when you combine that with as friendly as we can be with our drinks and our staff, I think that's really what makes it work,' Duncan said. 'This business allows us to show love to many people, not just the people that walk in the door, but also our staff. The most important thing in this business is that we treat every person that walks through the door like they're the most important person in the world, you know, and if everyone did that, it would be wonderful, right? You never know what kind of day someone is having, and we can make it different, even if it is by a little bit,' Vernon said. New West Virginia Honor Flight will bus veterans to Washington
CLARKSBURG, (WBOY) — This year's Honor Flight out of West Virginia will be a little different than years past, as the new Honor Flight North Central West Virginia hub will not take flight but rather a drive to Washington, D.C., for two nights and three days. The change comes after Honor Flight Huntington ceased operations. Now, Honor Flight North Central West Virginia will be the only operating hub out of West Virginia, according to Honor Flight North Central WV Coordinator Billie Jo Claypool. Claypool said this updated way of travel was inspired by a Virginia chapter that does the same. She added that this new way is set to be more cost-effective and allow veterans to visit more sites and stay there longer. Claypool estimates that each bus trip should cost around $30,000. On top of the lower cost, Claypool said that the goal is to have four trips a year, with around 25 veterans and their guardians each time, instead of just one trip. If all spots are taken, Claypool said those veterans' spots will automatically be reserved for the next trip, which is expected to be in the Spring. All meals, all rooms and everything is provided for our veterans, so that's more relaxing and it doesn't wear them out as much,' Claypool said. In years past, the flight has taken off from the North Central West Virginia Airport, and then veterans were greeted with a special welcome by the community on their return flight. Now, the buses will depart and return to the Clarksburg VFW. Applications are now open for the fall Honor Flight, which is scheduled to be Sept. 12-14.
