Love Island receive over 1,000 complaints following 'bullying' scenes
Ofcom has revealed that Love Island received over 1,000 complaints last week, with viewers accusing Harrison and other contestants of displaying "misogynistic" behaviour. A total of 1,071 complaints were made across four episodes last week, with Friday's episode drawing in the highest number - 527 complaints.
Ofcom told The Mirror that 280 of the complaints were related to "misogynistic behaviour, most notably by Harrison, Harry and Dejon," while 247 focused on "bully behaviour and mental wellbeing of contestants, most notably linked to Shakira being bullied" during the 18 July episode.
Meanwhile, fans had already threatened to contact Ofcom last week over Shakira's treatment by Harry, Harrison, and Dejon, particularly after Harrison referred to Shakira and Conor as a "one-sided couple."
As for the other episodes which received complaints, Sunday 20 July had 222 viewers complain over "alleged misogynistic behaviour by Dejon."
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, 15 July, a total of 221 viewers lodged complaints, with the majority expressing concern over the "alleged misogynistic behaviour by Harrison."
However, 44 were related to "how Lauren was portrayed in the edit of the episode" and 34 were about the "alleged bullying behaviour towards Shakira and Toni."
For the episode on 17 July, 69 viewers complained about Harrison's "alleged misogynistic behaviour", while 27 complained about "alleged bullying behaviour and expressed concern for the mental wellbeing of Shakira."
Ofcom has not yet confirmed whether it will launch an investigation into ITV in response to the complaints.
ITV has several duty of care protocols in place, including providing Islanders with training before entering the villa that covers language, behaviour and the importance of mutual respect in relationships.
It had been a pretty dramatic week inside the Love Island villa, with Lauren - who was previously coupled up with Harrison - being dumped from the villa after she was left single. Just a day later, viewers watched as Harrison chose to leave the villa and follow Lauren, with the controversial contestant revealing he still had feelings for him.
During last Tuesday's episode, which received over 200 Ofcom complaints, viewers were left shocked after ITV aired a saucey bedroom exchange between Harrison and Lauren. Harrison could be seen reaching over to Helena and Harry's bed in the night and asking: "Do you have a condom?"
Helena quickly grabbed one from a drawer, and Harry handed it over before the couple slipped under the covers. However, fans were unimpressed by the moment, especially since Harrison had recently admitted he still had feelings for his ex, Toni.
Taking to X, one viewer wrote: "Did Harry just pass a condom to Lauren and Harrison???! I didn't know I was watching too hot to handle," while a second shocked fan said: "I have never. In all my years seen someone ask for a condom on #loveisland. Like yayyyyy for sexual safety but that is tooooooooooo much."

Lorraine Kelly's makeup artist shares anti-ageing product from Boots for 'dewy' skin
Professional makeup artist Helen Hand said she follows a simple rule when it comes to youthful makeup, and she used a radiant product to keep Lorraine's complexion glowy With a plethora of skincare and tweakments offering solutions to look youthful, Lorraine Kelly's makeup artist revealed a makeup hack that lifts years off one's look. Fans were obsessed with Lorraine's dewy complexion. Makeup artist Helen Hand shared with the ITV presenter her go-to tips to avoid looking old. In the YouTube video, she created a soft glow look for Lorraine using the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation, which is currently on sale at Boots and reduced from £52 to £44.20. She explained: "I always think a good head of hair does make you look young. And years ago they used to say 'cut your hair as you get older', not necessarily. Just keep it soft, I always use that word. Even with makeup, as we get older, you can use any colour but just keep everything soft. If it's hard, it's ageing." Viewers couldn't help but notice Lorraine's glowy look as many people asked: "What foundation have you used on Lorraine in this video? It is really dewy." A second commented: "Please would you show us the makeup tutorial for your face. It's a fabulous look." The Chanel Les Beiges foundation contains over 40% water; it is a fresh, lightweight emulsion with a formula that claims to hydrate the skin all day long and give protection. The polymer, which acts as an emulsifying agent, diminishes the appearance of blemishes and fine lines and fills in visible pores for smooth skin. Lorraine wore shade B30 (medium shade, neutral undertone) and B40 (intense medium shade, neutral undertone), but shoppers can look online and find their match from the selection. The foundation has a delicate, silky texture that glides over skin and forms a layer that is invisible to the eye and imperceptible to touch, like a second skin. One customer shared: "Good coverage without drying out mature skin. This is the best alternative since Channel discontinued Vitaluminier,. Typically retailing which I had used for many years." But a shopper disagreed and said the Les Beiges foundation 'doesn't compare' with the discontinued Vitaluminier as she said: "It does not have the luminosity of your old one." Another embraced the dewy look, sharing: " Natural radiance in a bottle. I have been absolutely loving this foundation and the natural look it gives. It's adaptable with the finish, depending on how you apply it, works incredibly with just your fingers and even more perfecting with a brush. But this will never look too heavy on the skin. People always comment how beautiful my skin looks and ask what skin care I use, my secret is this." Alternatively, Chantecaille's Future Skin Oil-Free Gel Foundation is loved by skincare buffs who want a skin-like foundation with coverage. It is well rated by celebrities like Lisa Snowdon, typically retails at £83, shoppers can take 25% off using code BEAUTY25 to drop the price to £62.25. Charlotte Tilbury's Beautiful Skin Foundation, £39, offers buildable medium coverage with a natural, radiant glow. With ingredients like hyaluronic acid, rose complex, and patented BixActiv, the base makeup targets pigmentation and helps reduce visible shine and pores. As for the Chanel foundation Lorraine was wearing, it is formulated with Kalanchoe extract, which forms a barrier on the skin's surface, that protects against the harmful effects of indoor and outdoor pollution. The Healthy Glow Booster pigments light up skin with a subtle satin finish, giving an increase of 77% in immediate radiance.
