Lava Storm Play, Storm Lite smartphones launched in India for under Rs 10,000

Storm
Series smartphones, introducing the Storm Play at Rs 9,999 and Storm Lite at Rs 7,999, targeting the competitive sub-Rs 10,000 market. The Storm Play, as per the Lava, is the the world's first smartphone powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 7060 processor, while also being the first device under Rs 10,000 to feature LPDDR5 RAM and
UFS 3.1 storage
. Lava says that Storm Lite also marks an industry milestone as India's first smartphone under Rs 8,000 equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor.
The Storm Play, Storm Lite smartphones feature identical 6.75-inch HD+ displays with 120Hz refresh rates and 5000mAh batteries. The Storm Play offers enhanced specifications with 6GB+6GB RAM, 128GB storage, dual 50MP+2MP rear cameras, 8MP front camera, and 18W fast charging. The Storm Lite provides 4GB+4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage options, single 50MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, and 15W charging. The 50MP sensors on both the phones are an IMX752 sensors. Both smartphones run clean Android 15 without bloatware and include IP64 dust and water resistance, side-mounted fingerprint sensors.
"The Storm series introduces best-in-industry innovation with the world's first Dimensity 7060 and segment-first LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 features," said Sumit Singh, Head of Product at Lava International Limited. The company positions these devices as performance-focused smartphones for tech-savvy youth seeking flagship features at affordable prices.
The Storm Play launches exclusively on Amazon from June 19 at 12 PM, while the Storm Lite follows on June 24 at 12 PM, both at special introductory pricing. Lava promises one Android upgrade and two years of security updates, along with pan-India Free Service@Home support.

NDMC to spend 31cr on smart water meter plan
New Delhi: New Delhi Municipal Council has approved a sum of Rs 31 crore for its long-pending project to provide smart water meters in areas under its jurisdiction. The work includes replacing conventional mechanical meters with new smart meters. At present, there are 20,709 water connections in the NDMC area. There was earlier a Rs 14 crore proposal for replacing 5,397 defective mechanical water meters with smart water meters. This has been extended also to the remaining 15,312 meters to achieve 100% accuracy in operations and to ensure the longevity of the water meters. "We have a preliminary estimate of Rs 30.8 crore for installing smart water meters in consumer connection lines. These meters will have advanced metering capacities, are highly waterproof, magnetically sealed, have no moving parts and are capable of measuring both low and high water flow," claimed Kuljeet Chahal, NDMC vice-chairman. The proposal underlined that the smart meters were relatively costlier but provided accurate data without manual intervention. Most importantly, no manpower is required for physical meter reading at the site, unlike conventional meters, as the reading will be directly available at the meter data management." Given such features, NDMC decided on June 12 to get the current meters replaced by smart meters to instil confidence in the consumer. "These types of meters are now installed by most water-supplying departments across the country. Since NDMC has already granted administrative and expenditure sanction for the project, we expect the work to be completed by July 2026," said Chahal. Bansuri Swaraj, member of Parliament and ex-officio member of NDMC, said that upgrading essential civic facilities employing modern technology would significantly enhance efficiency and bring transparency and ultimately benefit citizens while improving service delivery. A proposal for the procurement of smart electricity meters for the mass replacement of existing static-type operated electronic energy meters was also approved by NDMC. An official said that the process for replacing conventional meters with smart electricity meters is already underway, with 60% of the work completed. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju lays foundation stone for e-vidhan project in Delhi Assembly
New Delhi [India], June 14 (ANI): Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Saturday laid the foundation stone for e-Vidhan (Paperless Assembly) project at the Delhi Assembly in the presence of the Delhi Assembly speaker, Vijender Gupta, marking a significant milestone in the digitisation of legislative governance. Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta also graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while the Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Mohan Singh Bisht, Minister of Industries, Food & Supplies and Environment, Forest and Wild Life Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Chief whip Abhay Verma were present as the Guests of Honour, according to a release. Speaking on the occasion, Kiren Rijiju said, 'The laying of the foundation stone for the e-Vidhan Project at the Delhi Legislative Assembly is a commendable step towards adopting technology for legislative efficiency and transparency. While several states have already implemented the e-Vidhan system successfully, it is encouraging to see Delhi joining this important national initiative. I am pleased to be part of this progressive development. I want to see the Delhi Assembly as a model assembly, and this initiative will certainly help in achieving that goal.' Rijiju further noted that, given Delhi's unique and complex administrative structure, this digital transformation carries special relevance. He emphasized that the e-Vidhan initiative is not merely about going paperless, but about enhancing transparency, public participation, efficiency, and digital security in legislative processes, according to the release. Speaker Vijender Gupta described the initiative as a historic milestone aimed at making Assembly functioning more efficient, transparent, and environmentally conscious. The project, being implemented under the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), is expected to digitize legislative operations, reduce paper usage, and provide lawmakers with real-time digital access to legislative business. The Speaker also informed that the tripartite MoU to implement NeVA was signed on March 22 between the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, GNCTD, and the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat in the presence of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju. Gupta further said that the Delhi Assembly has received grants of over Rs 9 crore from the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA), out which more than Rs 1 crore has granted in first instalment. He also said that the Delhi Assembly is on track to become the first in the country to run entirely on renewable energy, with a 500-kW solar power project being installed. Additionally, efforts are underway to transform the Assembly's traditional library into a modern e-library and to complete the renovation of the House before the upcoming Monsoon Session, according to the release. Gupta further highlighted plans to develop the Delhi Assembly premises--where India's first Parliament once convened--into a heritage and cultural site. A legislative museum, interactive exhibits, and guided tours are proposed, with support from institutions like IGNCA and the National Archives. The project aims to celebrate India's democratic legacy while integrating cultural, environmental, and technological innovation in governance.
