Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma expresses grief over Sangareddy fire victims
The Governor paid condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
The Governor spoke to the Labour, Employment Training and Factories (LETF) Principal Secretary M.Dan Kishore, and directed him to extend all possible assistance and the best of medical help to the victims.
Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu on Monday expressed grief over the fire accident at the Sigachi Pharma chemical factory.
'Deeply saddened by the tragic fire accident at a factory in Sangareddy, Telangana, which claimed several lives. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,' Murmu said in a post on X.
Prior to that, the Director General of the Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services, Y Nagi Reddy, stated that rescue officials are currently unsure of the number of people trapped under the debris following the blast at the Sigachi Pharma Company in Sangareddy.

He added that, according to industrial experts, the blast occurred during the air handling and drying of Microcrystalline cellulose.
'Today, at around 9.48 am, there was a blast in the drying unit at Sigachi Pharma Company. The explosion led to a fire. A total of 12 people have died and 35 are injured in the incident,' Nagi Reddy told reporters after visiting the accident site.
'As per industrial experts, the incident happened during the air handling/drying of Microcrystalline cellulose. We are currently unsure of the number of people under the debris,' he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the explosion and announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakhs for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister's Office wrote, 'Anguished by the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy at a factory in Sangareddy, Telangana. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. An ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi.' (ANI)

Vadodara mayor's office vandalised: AAP protests arrest of 24 party workers
A day after the Vadodara city police arrested 24 workers of the Aam Aadmi Party's Vadodara unit for vandalising Mayor Pinky Soni's office, the party leaders on Tuesday gathered at the Navapura police station on Tuesday to protest against the BJP-ruled Vadodara Municipal Corporation. The AAP workers, who on Monday barged inside Soni's office, splattered black ink on the Mayor's cabin door and broke her name plate by stomping on it, were arrested later in the evening. On Tuesday, AAP leader Manoj Sarothiya arrived in Vadodara and attacked the BJP-ruled VMC for 'failing to provide amenities' to citizens. Sorathiya said that instead of providing answers to the questions, the mayor has been 'enraged enough' to initiate police action against AAP workers for 'raising questions'. Sorathiya said, 'In the last 30 years of BJP's rule in the city, Vadodara has witnessed floods every year… The AAP workers spilled some black ink and broke a name plate, which enraged the Mayor so much that a police complaint was lodged… I want to tell the Mayor, every year, Vadodara residents lose crores of rupees during floods and also lose lives. Why was no FIR registered at that time?' Sorathiya added, 'The condition of the roads in Vadodara is terrible. The office bearers of Vadodara have indulged in blatant corruption and led the city to this point. In the recent months, a project of Rs 1200 crore was announced for the Vishwamitri project, out of which, Rs 50 crore has been paid by the VMC and a same amount by the Irrigation Department for the flood mitigation work… AAP leaders are not scared of (the BJP's) lathis or the jails… If they cannot answer people's questions, they should resign from the post.' Vadodara City Congress President Rutvij Joshi said, 'The Vadodara city Congress has initiated a campaign 'Khadodara darshan', to showcase the apathy of the civic body and the condition of the roads and sanitation in the city during the monsoon'. 'We started with Ward 4, which is the Mayor's Ward… In several places, entire stretch of roads have been dug up by the civic body on the pretext of pre-monsoon work but they have not been filled up and levelled, making it dangerous as there have been multiple instances of people being injured. In one of the cases, an auto driver was killed due to a pothole in another part of the city,' Joshi added. Mayor Pinky Soni remained unavailable for her remarks over the issue.

SIT to probe ‘irregularities' in school edu dept recruitments
The Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to inquire into alleged irregularities in recruitment within the state's school education department. School Education Minister Dada Bhuse informed the Assembly that the SIT will include senior IAS and IPS officers with legal expertise, alongside domain specialists. The team has been granted of four to five months to complete the probe. 'Strict action will be taken against those who have maligned the education sector,' Bhuse said. The issue was raised in the Lower House through a calling attention motion by Sena UBT's Ajay Chaudhari and others. According to the motion, over 1,000 appointments were made in Nagpur and other districts in recent years, of which at least 580 teaching and non-teaching staff were found ineligible. Chaudhari claimed that in Nagpur division alone, government funds amounting to Rs 100 crore were spent on salaries of ineligible appointees. Since 2012, he alleged, ineligible individuals have continued to draw salaries across several districts. Following these allegations, criminal cases were filed against 12 office-bearers of various educational institutions. Departmental inquiries against education officials have also been initiated. Bhuse said the SIT would identify those responsible and ensure accountability. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday announced a separate SIT, to be headed by a senior woman officer, to investigate allegations of sexual harassment of a minor girl at a coaching centre in Beed. The matter was raised by NCP's Chetan Tupe through a point of information in the Assembly. Tupe questioned why the two accused arrested in the case were granted only three days of police custody. 'Who is protecting the accused?' he asked. Fadnavis responded that anyone attempting to shield the accused would also face consequences. 'The SIT will investigate the case in a time-bound manner, and the guilty will not be spared,' he said.

TN fire cracker unit explosion: Eight killed, three critically injured; CM announces solatium
Upon receiving information, Fire and Rescue Service personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire. The bodies of the deceased were sent to the Government Hospital in Sivakasi for post mortem. The injured are being treated in Sivakasi and Madurai. Sattur Town police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. Preliminary investigations revealed that the unit is PESO-licensed. Expressing 'shock' and grief over the tragic incident, Chief Minister M K Stalin said he has ordered the officials to provide a solatium of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased. The CM announced a relief of Rs one lakh each to those who were seriously injured and undergoing treatment in the hospital, besides Rs 50,000 to those who sustained simple injuries and were admitted to the hospital, an official release said.
