Chloe Kim is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in snowboarding for the United States. It isn't often snowboarders make headlines in the Summer. Kim gained attention this week when she visited Cleveland Browns practice to see boyfriend Myles Garrett, the team's star defensive end. The pair have been rumored to be another sports power couple since they went to the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Tokyo in May.

Kishane Thompson edges Noah Lyles in Olympic 100m rematch

This time, Kishane Thompson held off Noah Lyles. Thompson beat Lyles — 9.87 seconds to 9.90 — on Saturday in their first race together since Lyles overtook Thompson for Olympic 100m gold by five thousandths of a second. American Kenny Bednarek was third at Saturday's Diamond League meet in Poland, his first 100m defeat of the season. Lyles raced his third 100m of a season that was interrupted in the spring due to an ankle injury. Thompson ran 9.75 seconds in June, the world's fastest time in a decade. Lyles and Thompson are expected to duel in the 100m again at September's World Championships in Tokyo. Lyles will bid to become the first repeat world champion since Usain Bolt in 2013 and '15. Thompson can become the first Jamaican man to win a world 100m title since Bolt's last of three victories in 2015. Faith Kipyegon nearly breaks 3000m world record Also Saturday, Kenyan Faith Kipyegon nearly broke a nearly 32-year-old world record in the 3000m, running 93 hundredths shy of it. Kipyegon clocked 8 minutes, 7.04 seconds, the second-fastest time in history behind the dubious world record of 8:06.11 set by China's Wang Junxia at the 1993 Chinese National Games. Kipyegon, the three-time Olympic 1500m gold medalist, owns the world records in the 1500m and mile and formerly had the 5000m world record. At worlds, she is expected to bid to sweep the 1500m and 5000m, which she did at the last edition in 2023. She faces a major challenge in the 1500m in friend and countrywoman Beatrice Chebet, the Olympic gold medalist and world record holder. Chebet ran her first 1500m in two years on Saturday, finishing second to Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegay. Chebet's 3:54.73 made her the second-fastest Kenyan in history behind Kipyegon, whose world record is 3:48.68. Olympic champion Masai Russell ran the joint-third-fastest 100m hurdles in history -- 12.19 seconds, two hundredths off her American record set in May. The world record of 12.12 was set by Tobi Amusan of Nigeria at the 2022 World Championships. Next month, Russell will bid to become the second American to pair a world title with Olympic gold in the 100m hurdles after Brianna McNeal. In Saturday's 800m, Olympic gold medalist Keely Hodgkinson of Great Britain comfortably won in 1:54.74 in her first race since the Paris Games after a February hamstring tear. It's the ninth-best time in history and the world's best time since Hodgkinson ran 1:54.61 in July 2024. In a duel between Olympic 400m gold and silver medalists, Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic overtook Bahrain's Salwa Eid Naser to prevail 49.18 to 49.27. Naser remains the fastest woman this year (48.67 from April), but Paulino has won all four of their head-to-head 400m races since the start of May. Nick Zaccardi,

Browns' Shedeur Sanders Preseason Viewership Numbers Are Insane

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. All eyes across the NFL have been on Shedeur Sanders, the polarizing rookie quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. He has been the subject of lots of scrutiny because he is the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders and because, according to plenty, he has hyped himself up. The younger Sanders played for his father, who is the head coach for the Colorado Buffaloes, over the last two seasons. But while he did well there, lots of people have been expecting him to flounder in the big leagues. He made his NFL preseason debut last Friday versus the Carolina Panthers, and he took a small step toward addressing the criticism and cynicism he has been subject to. He completed 14 of his 23 pass attempts and threw for two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 30-10 win. MoreThe television ratings are in for that game, and they are through the roof. In fact, the contest was NFL Network's most-watched one in a decade, per Yahoo Sports. Yeah, he's got the juice 🧃 Shedeur Sanders' NFL debut was the most-watched preseason game in a DECADE on NFL Network 📈 — Yahoo Sports (@YahooSports) August 14, 2025 Read more: Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Receives New Major Injury Update Of course, the younger Sanders has a very long way to go before he can prove that he will live up to the hype. But Friday's game was a decently auspicious one. In 2024, he threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns while completing 74% of his pass attempts at Colorado. For a period of time, there even seemed to be a debate on whether he would be the first quarterback taken in this year's NFL draft. But Cam Ward of the University of Miami won that debate, and closer to the draft, a handful of experts felt that the 23-year-old would fall considerably on the draft board. Some even felt he could drop out of the first round. In fact, some scouts had some very unflattering things to say about the younger Sanders. One longtime NFL assistant coach said that the QB was "the worst formal interview I've ever been in in my life. He's so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates. ... But the biggest thing is, he's not that good." As it turned out, the NFL draft was a humiliating experience for the younger Sanders. He wasn't taken until the fifth round, and in the interim, he even had to endure a humiliating prank phone call from a college student claiming to be New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis. Read more: Browns' Shedeur Sanders Receives Strong Words From Colorado Teammate The Browns have had some of the worst luck of any NFL team when it comes to finding or developing a legitimate star quarterback. Baker Mayfield, the No. 1 overall pick in 2018, failed to pan out in his four seasons with them, and the Cleveland faithful have had to watch him become his best self with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the same offseason that Mayfield left, Cleveland traded for Deshaun Watson, the three-time Pro Bowler who led the NFL in passing yards in 2020. But he apparently forgot how to play the QB position after arriving in Northeast Ohio, and after tearing his Achilles last fall, he may never play another snap for the team. Roquan Smith shows gratitude for swim lessons from Michael Phelps

Michael Phelps is the G.O.A.T. of swimming; that's just a fact. No one in history is more accomplished in Olympic swimming than Phelps, as his multitude of records speaks for itself. Phelps is also a Baltimore native and a big-time Ravens supporter, so when the opportunity came to help out his favorite team, he jumped at the chance. Phelps, as well as Ray Lewis, one of the franchise's all-time greatest players (some might call him the Ravens G.O.A.T., but that's another debate discussion for another time), came to practice this week and spoke to the team. Two living legends, providing top-tier motivational speeches to a team with very high ambitions this season. And Phelps also hit the pool at the Ravens facility; naturally. He also taught Ravens players how to swim, and one of them in particular, All-Pro inside linebacker Roquan Smith, was very thankful. Smith said that if he had to swim a short distance to save his own life, he now could- thanks to Phelps and his teachings this past week. 'If I have to swim less than 20 yards, I could survive somehow because I could doggy paddle,' Smith is quoted in a story on the Ravens website. 'But as far as actually swimming and knowing how to breathe and things of that nature, honestly, it was my first time. It was really cool. It was really solid, some of the lessons they gave me. I feel a little more confident.' Now that's what we call making a positive impact on people's lives!
