Napoli defeats Torino to take sole lead in Italian League
Rome - Saba:
Napoli claimed sole possession of the top spot in the Italian Serie A after defeating visiting Torino 2-0 on Monday in the 34th round of the competition.
Napoli took the lead in the 7th minute through Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who received a cross from the right by teammate Frank Anguissa and slotted the ball into the net.
In the 41st minute, Kvaratskhelia struck again in similar fashion, this time from a pass by teammate Matteo Politano, scoring his second personal goal of the match and securing Napoli's victory.
With this win, Napoli raised their points tally to 74, sitting in first place with a three-point lead over defending champions Inter Milan, who are in second place after losing 1-0 to Roma on Sunday.
This victory strengthens the hopes of coach Antonio Conte, who has previously won the league with Juventus and Inter Milan, to secure his fourth Serie A title and his second in the last three seasons, having last won it in the 2022/2023 campaign.
On the other hand, Torino's points tally remained frozen at 43, leaving them in 10th place.
