Veteran actor R Sarathkumar, a renowned name in Tamil cinema, is celebrating his 70th birthday today, July 14. Guess who is cheering for him the loudest on his special day? None other than his daughter, actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. On the occasion, she took to her social media accounts and shared a heartfelt note alongside an unseen picture from her wedding.
In the photo, R Sarathkumar was seen holding her hand and walking her down the aisle during her Christian wedding ceremony with Nicholai Sachdev. While she was seen smiling ear-to-ear, her father couldn't stop adoring his daughter. Along with the heartwarming photo, she penned a sweet note, where she took pride in being a dad's girl.
She wrote, 'Happpyyyy birthdayyyyyy daddyyyy," adding, 'You have always held my hand and until today never let it go.. I love you.. just like how millions of people love you .. for your pure heart and the love u give to everyone you meet." She continued, 'Your journey is still very much on.. and may you find what you're looking for .. your fight and perseverance are to be admired by all… and we all know how hard you work until this very day."

R Sarathkumar is one of the prominent names in regional cinema, who has predominantly worked in Tamil films. Having made his debut in 1986 with the film Samajamlo Sthree, he has worked as the hero as well as the villain in hundreds of movies. He was most recently seen in films like 3BHK and Kannappa. As for Varalaxmi, she has Vijay and Pooja Hegde's Jana Nayagan in the pipeline.

Dipika wrote, 'Days when the treatment hits hard, and even the simplest things feel heavy.' Dipika has been sharing her health journey with fans for the last few months. She was diagnosed with liver cancer in May this year. At that time, she took to her Instagram to share an emotional note. She had said how a simple visit to the hospital for stomach pain turned into a life-changing diagnosis. Dipika also shared a selfie. A part of her note read, "As you all are aware, the last few weeks have been quite difficult for us... walking into the hospital for a pain in the upper area of my stomach... and then finding out it's a tennis ball-sized tumour in the liver, and then finding out that the tumour is Second stage Malignant (Cancerous) ... it has been one of the most difficult times we have seen, experienced!" Dipika underwent surgery After several check-ups and hospital visits, Dipika underwent a 14-hour-long surgery in June. Following that, her husband-actor Shoaib Ibrahim said that Dipika has no cancer cells, but since the tumour was classified as "grade three and poorly differentiated", it was "quite aggressive". He added that there are chances of recurrence of the tumour. Dipika was recently seen in the cooking game show Celebrity MasterChef. Before that, she starred in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11 (2023) and Sasural Simar Ka 2 (2021).

Shubhanshu Shukla to return to India on August 19, to meet PM Modi
Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla is set to return to India on Sunday (August 16, 2025) after his historic visit to the International Space Station (ISS) and is eager to share his experiences with friends and colleagues back home as ISRO eyes its maiden human spaceflight in 2027. Mr. Shukla, who has been in the U.S., training for the Axiom-4 mission to ISS for the past year, is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and travel to his hometown Lucknow soon after. He is expected to be back in the capital to participate in the National Space Day celebrations on August 22-23. Mr. Shukla posted on Instagram a smiling photograph of himself sitting in an aeroplane, and said in its caption that he was filled with mixed emotions as he left the U.S. and could not wait to return to India to share his experiences with everyone back home. "As I sit on the plane to come back to India, I have a mix of emotions running through my heart. I feel sad leaving a fantastic group of people behind who were my friends and family for the past one year during this mission. I am also excited about meeting all my friends, family and everyone in the country for the first time post mission. I guess this is what life is -- everything all at once," Mr. Shukla said in the post. "Having received incredible love and support from everyone during and after the mission, I can't wait to come back to India to share my experiences with all of you. Goodbyes are hard but we need to keep moving in life. As my commander Peggy Whitson fondly says, 'the only constant in spaceflight is change'. I believe that applies to life as well," he said.
