The best local restaurant in London has been crowned by the Good Food Guide

Congratulations to Ida in Queen's Park, which has been named the Best Local restaurant in London by the Good Food Guide.
This is the 15th year of the GFG's Best Local Restaurants campaign, which sees the publication celebrate 100 cosy neighbourhood spots across the UK. According to the Good Food Guide, the list heralds 'wine bars serving sensational small plates, neighbourhood bistros breathing life into faded seaside towns, and the cherished family-run gems where you can enjoy a great meal for under £20'.
The list is broken down into areas and Ida, a family-run Italian on Kilburn Lane, came up top in London. However, the overall number one was Malaysian pub residency Lucky Lychee in Winchester, which also topped the South East list.
Ida opened in 2007, taking over a Grade II listed corner shop site. It is run by husband and wife, Avi and Simonetta, alongside their three children. 'The dream was to recreate the kind of simple, home-cooked Italian food you might eat at the house of your favourite aunt,' they say.
The other London restaurants given the nod in the list included Time Out's current best restaurant in London, Miga in Hackney, as well as Clapton's Mambow, which topped our best restaurants list in 2024. See below for the full list of London restaurants named in the Best Local Restaurants campaign.

Looks like a 1990s tennis shirt to me." The shirt will be worn by Evan Ferguson, who has joined the Italian side on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion. The Irish striker was once valued at £100million but injuries, poor form and an underwhelming loan at West Ham last season have seen his value plummet. Roma will wear the new kit for their friendly match against German outfit 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion. Last season, I Giallorossi finished fifth in the Serie A table and qualified for the Europa League. Gian Piero Gasperini was brought in as the new manager this summer to replace Premier League icon Claudio Ranieri. Arsenal's home kit has come with an eye-watering price while Manchester United fans could not "spot the difference" between their new shirt and the one worn last season.

DJ dies ‘after being beaten by cops' at Ibiza party when police were ‘called ove

A popular Italian DJ who performed around the world died after allegedly being beaten by cops at a house party. Michele Noschese, known as DJ Godzi, was just 35 when he was 'assaulted' by cops at his home during a late-night party in Ibiza. The Italian DJ had been living in Ibiza for the last 10 years and was well-known on the island, performing frequently at music events in London, Paris, Barcelona, and New York. He died Saturday morning, and Spanish authorities are investigating his death, which was announced by numerous friends and online electronic music pages. Michele was reportedly holding a party at his home when neighbours called the Civil Guard over the loud noise. The DJ clashed with several officers and was allegedly beaten, according to several witnesses, before his body was taken to the morgue. The authorities are waiting for the post-mortem results to establish his exact cause of death. Michele's family has reportedly requested an independent forensic medical report, and Italian politicians are demanding answers. Fulvio Martusciello, MEP for the Forza Italia political party, said: 'We want to know the truth about Michele Noschese's death. 'We want to understand what happened and what the Civil Guard's responsibility is. The sudden death of a young, successful and well-liked Neapolitan, an internationally renowned DJ, cannot remain in the shadows.' Techno-house music label Moon Child shared photos of Michele and wrote: 'We are truly saddened by this news. Michele had a kind heart and was part of the Mood family after releasing his track 'Love This Game' on Mood Edits.' Michele previously said his passion for music began when he was just 15, and he went to live in London before later moving to Ibiza. 'I tell any young DJ to work hard from morning to night in front of the PC to compose electronic music,' he said. His death came on the heels of other recent deaths in Ibiza.
