Labubu-maker Pop Mart diversifies into jewellery with new concept store
"Blind box" toymaker Pop Mart , which has seen frenzied sales worldwide for products related to its ugly-cute Labubu character, opened its first jewellery store in Shanghai on Friday. The jewellery concept store, called Popop, sells accessories adorned with Pop Mart's top-selling characters, including Labubu, Molly and Skullpanda. While Chinese consumption remains subdued in the face of a prolonged property downturn and sluggish economy, Pop Mart's affordable and adorable toys have remained in high demand both at home and abroad, driving its share price up more than 200 per cent so far this year. Investor Zhang Ming, 34, who owns Pop Mart stocks worth 100 million yuan ($13.92 million), flew from his base in the southwestern Chinese city of Chongqing for the opening to check out the new store type and decide whether to increase his shareholding in the company. "I believe that the pricing and target audience for this brand are particularly well-suited, and I am confident that Pop Mart could potentially become China's version of Disney," Zhang said, predicting that the company's market cap could double from its current $45.65 billion valuation. Along with some Disney characters and others related to anime, comics and popular video games, Pop Mart's characters are seen as fulfilling what has been called " emotional consumption ", which sees young consumers spend on affordable luxuries that bring joy into their lives. Fang Ke, 35, who has a birthday coming up this month decided to treat herself to a 699 yuan Labubu bracelet at the opening. "I've loved Pop Mart for a long time; it's good-looking, brightly coloured, and also has a visual impact," she said. "My daughter likes it too." At Popop, prices start at around 350 yuan for charms or a simple silver ring, and go as high as 2699 yuan for necklaces adorned with metallic models of the characters. Most pieces are priced at under 1,000 yuan. At a traditional Pop Mart store, the "blind box" toys that the chain is best known for generally sell for 69 yuan and up, but consumers have shown a willingness to shell out much more for limited editions. Earlier this week, a Beijing auction house sold a human-sized Labubu figure for 1.08 million yuan, setting a new record and marking the toy's switch from craze to collectible. Your Birthdate Can Reveal Where You'll Meet Your Soulmate
Because fate clearly has a GPS—it just cleverly hides it in numbers. Apparently, that seemingly innocent birthdate isn't just for enjoying birthday cakes and logging into your favorite online platforms. According to the fascinating insights of numerology and karmic astrology, the specific date of your birth can actually hint at the most probable location where a significant soulmate connection is destined to unfold. Miley Cyrus' Brother Trace Accuses Ex-Girlfriend Brenda Song of FAKING Pregnancy and Cancer: 'We Were Catching on...'
Trace Cyrus has made a major revelation about his ex-girlfriend, Brenda Song. The musician, who also happens to be Miley Cyrus' brother, took to his Instagram to share a list of lies that the actress told him while in a relationship from 2010 to 2017. Cyrus also went on to mention that Song faked her pregnancy as well as her brain tumor while also stealing a thousand dollars from the Let's Run Away crooner. Trace, in response to one of the users in the comment section of his post, revealed that the Suite Life of Zack and Cody star also faked her illness, convincing him and her family that the actress had breast cancer. Trace Cyrus accuses Brenda Song of faking pregnancy, abortion and brain tumor Trace, who dated the Disney alum for six years, went on to list Song's lies in the comment section after a user mentioned that the actress leaving the musician was a good riddance for her. The Seventeen Forever singer responded, 'yes because she stole thousands of dollars from me and faked multiple pregnancies & lied about being terminally ill to make my family and I think she had breast cancer and a brain tumor.' The musician also went on to state, 'It was all a lie; she was humiliated to show her face around my family again once we figured it out and my mom confronted her and called her out on all of it.' Cyrus also went on to add that the actress spilled fake blood across the bathroom, after which he and his mother rushed her to the hospital. It was then that Song's lies were unraveled. On a different occasion, the Prescriptions crooner also mentioned that Song pretended to have brain tumor surgery in Chicago. He revealed that his ex came in with a bandage across her head. When he removed it, no surgery had been performed. Trace, however, provided no proof of his claims. He is known to rant on social media, as he did about his dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, previously. Following her split from Cyrus, Brenda Song went on to date the Home Alone star, Macaulay Culkin. The duo also welcomed their two kids in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
