Chuck Mangione, noted flugelhorn player, trumpeter and composer, has died. He was reportedly 84.
The news was confirmed via a press release out of a funeral home in Rochester, New York, on behalf of Mangione's family, who said they were 'deeply saddened to share that Chuck peacefully passed away in his sleep at his home in Rochester' on Tuesday.
Mangione, a flugelhorn player whose composition 'Feels So Good' became an unlikely pop hit in 1978, was a Rochester native who started playing jazz as a teenager,
He won two Grammy Awards over his 60-year career in music, including one for best instrumental composition for 'Bellavia.'
'Feels So Good,' an upbeat instrumental whose full-length version runs nearly 10 minutes, spent 25 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at #4 in 1978.
In addition to that signature hit, Mangione was recognizable for his distinctive style at the peak of his career, sporting long hair and a brown felt hat with a feathered band that he later donated to the Smithsonian Institution.
Outside of the music business, Mangione is remembered for his recurring appearances as a tongue-in-cheek version of himself on the primetime Fox animated series 'King of the Hill.'
This is a developing story.

Create Account O'Donnell warned that daytime series would be cancelled over political pressure in a TikTok post where she mentioned Joy Behar, but the White House shrugged off her speculation — but came up with a new nickname for the 82-year-old redhead. 'Rosie O'Donnell and 'Joyless' Behar are irrelevant losers with too much time on their hands, whining about a failing talk show while everyday Americans are working hard,' White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly . Rogers then referenced O'Donnell's recent move to Ireland to flee a Trump second term. 'Our country is better off with Rosie living abroad — and we can all hope 'Joyless' Behar will join her next!' The statement also noted to EW that 'mainstream media' is 'finally admitting that writing off 80 million Americans is not a winning business model.' The White House's remarks come after O'Donnell detailed her thoughts on the possibility of The View being cancelled amid unconfirmed reports that its network ABC could end the long-running show's run over 'liberal bias.' 'The show with five women speaking their own opinions,' O'Donnell began. 'That's the threat now.' Your noon-hour look at what's happening in Toronto and beyond. She continued: 'Because it's not enough to run the country into the ground. You have to control what people SEE, what they HEAR, what they think.' O'Donnell said of The View : 'Well, that's a little much woman, a little too much truth, a little too much Joy Behar saying, 'I don't think the insurrection was a tourist visit, Karen.' Apparently, the truth is dangerous now.' She went on to reference how she used to think the First Amendment meant something. RECOMMENDED VIDEO 'I used to think you couldn't just erase a voice because it made you comfortable. But that's where we are,' noting the Trump administration doesn't 'want balance… they want obedience. And they will shut down anything that reminds people of what freedom sounds like.' This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. O'Donnell added: 'What they're really trying to do is shut us up. All of us.' She finished, writing, 'So no — we do not get quieter. We do not make ourselves smaller, so they can feel more comfortable. We speak louder. We take up space. We stand together and say what is true, even when it shakes the walls. Because the most dangerous sound in the world is a woman who knows what she's talking about — and refuses to stop.' Read More The View has previously drawn criticism from the White House after Behar suggested that Trump was jealous of former president Barack Obama's looks and marriage to Michelle Obama. That was the first time Rogers suggested that The View could be 'pulled off the air,' and first called Behar an 'irrelevant loser' for her comments. The View is currently on its summer hiatus. It returns next month for its 29th season. Toronto Blue Jays Tennis Editorials Ontario MLB

TMZ reported that Mack, 33, took a break from auditioning in early July, with her rep telling the outlet, 'no one expected' her to die. Mack's death was announced in a post on her Instagram account . According to an online obituary , Mack, who was born Kelley Klebenow, died on Aug. 2, after battling glioma, a type of cancer that attacks the central nervous system. After undergoing initial treatments earlier this year, Mack was reportedly making a 'nice recovery.' But a source tells TMZ that her cancer returned 'out of nowhere,' and spread through her body in recent weeks. They said she had a 'quick end.' Mack regularly updated fans on her health. Back in January, she revealed her glioma diagnosis telling her followers she hoped her fight would be 'a short chapter in my long book.' In March, she shared another hopeful post, saying, 'This journey has not been easy, but things are getting better – improvements are tough to see when you're in the thick of it.' This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. In addition to her work on The Walking Dead , Mack played Penelope Jacobs in Season 8 of NBC's Chicago Med and booked a role on Fox's 9-1-1 . Mack's obituary also noted her commercial work, with parts in ads for Dr Pepper, Ross Stores, Budweiser, Eli Lilly, Dairy Queen, Chick-fil-A and Hyundai. She also was a voice match for Hailee Steinfeld's Gwen Stacy in 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse . Her big-screen work included roles in 2021's Broadcast Signal Intrusion , 2024's Delicate Arch and the soon-to-be-released Universal , which she also executive produced. 'Her vibrant spirit, creative passion and dedication to storytelling left an indelible mark on those who knew her and the audiences she captivated through her work,' her family said. mdaniell@ Read More Toronto Blue Jays Tennis Editorials Ontario Columnists
