Brightline just launched unlimited passes, to make your Miami commute more bearable
If your weekday slog between Miami and Fort Lauderdale feels more like a punishment than a commute, Brightline has some (very) welcome news. The high-speed rail operator just rolled out Brightline Passes, a suite of pre-paid multi-ride options aimed at making travel across South Florida—and up to Orlando —a lot more budget-friendly for regular riders.
Designed for commuters, event-goers, and anyone who's made Brightline a mainstay of their week, these new passes offer fixed-rate savings on frequent trips. Riders can choose from 10-, 20-, or 40-ride bundles that work between select station pairs, including Miami to Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, or even all the way up to Orlando.
Prices start at $239 for a 10-ride pass between Miami and Fort Lauderdale (which includes Aventura). The most robust option—a 40-ride pass covering trips from Miami to West Palm Beach—comes in at $899. For those making the longer trek to Orlando, there's a 10-ride pass priced at $799, with a 60-day window to use it.
'Whether it's for weekday commutes or weekend escapes, the new Brightline Passes offer a reliable, modern ride with a fixed-rate fare to get frequent travelers where they need to go,' said Barbara Drahl, Brightline's senior vice president of marketing and commercial strategy, in a release. 'Our repeat guests choose Brightline as their preferred way to travel, and now there is an easier way to ride more and spend less.'
Passes can be purchased and managed through Brightline's app or website, and South Florida passholders can book up to seven days in advance (60 days if traveling to or from Orlando). There's even a five-percent discount if you set up auto-renew, plus all purchases rack up points through Brightline Rewards, the company's new loyalty program.

Saudi GDP grows 3.4%
QNA Riyadh Saudi Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first quarter of 2025 achieved a 3.4 percent growth compared to the same quarter in 2024. In its report today, the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) stated that this growth was driven by a 4.9 percent increase in non-oil activities and a 3.2 percent rise in government activities. Oil activities recorded a 0.5 percent decline. Meanwhile, on a seasonally adjusted basis, real GDP increased by 1.1 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. The results showed that non-oil activities were the primary contributors to real GDP growth on an annual basis, adding 2.8 percentage points. Government activities and net product taxes also contributed positively, with 0.5 and 0.2 percentage points, respectively. GASTAT noted that most economic activities achieved positive growth rates on an annual basis. Wholesale and retail trade, restaurants, and hotels recorded the highest growth rates during the first quarter of 2025, with annual growth of 8.4 percent and quarterly growth of 0.7 percent.

Warner Bros. Discovery to split into 2 companies by next year
Agencies Warner Bros. Discovery will calve off cable operations from its streaming service, creating two independent companies as the number of people 'cutting the cord' brings with it a sustained upheaval in the entertainment industry. HBO, and HBO Max, as well as Warner Bros. Television, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, DC Studios, will become part of the streaming and studios company, Warner Bros. said Monday. The cable company will include CNN, TNT Sports in the U.S., and Discovery, top free-to-air channels across Europe, and digital products such as the Discovery+ streaming service and Bleacher Report. Shares jumped 11% at the opening bell. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav will serve as CEO of the company that for right now is called Streaming & Studios. Gunnar Wiedenfels, chief financial officer of Warner Bros. Discovery, will be CEO of the cable-focused entity, for now known as Global Networks. 'By operating as two distinct and optimized companies in the future, we are empowering these iconic brands with the sharper focus and strategic flexibility they need to compete most effectively in today's evolving media landscape,' Zaslav said in a statement. Just days ago Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders in a vote that was symbolic as it's nonbinding, rejected the 2024 pay packages of some executives, including Zaslav, who will make more than $51 million. Warner Bros. Discovery said in December that it was implementing a restructuring plan in which Warner Bros. Discovery would become the parent company for two operating divisions, Global Linear Networks and Streaming & Studios. That was seen as a preview of the separation announced Monday. Warner Bros. Discovery was created just three years ago when AT&T spun off WarnerMedia and it was merged with Discovery Communications in a $43 billion deal. The cable industry has been under assault for years from streaming services like Disney, Netflix, Amazon and Warner Bros. own HBO Max. The industry is also being pressured by internet plans offered by mobile phone companies. Comcast, which is of nearly equal size to Charter, spun off many of its cable television networks in November, seeing so many customers swap out their cable TV subscriptions for streaming month Charter Communications offered to acquire Cox Communications, a $34.5 billion merger that would combine two of the top three cable companies in the U.S. So-called 'cord cutting' has cost the industry millions of customers and left them searching for ways to successfully compete.

Alcaraz and Sinner, the world's top two players, contested their first Grand Slam final at the French Open - and it was an all-time classic. Second seed Alcaraz came out on top after a five-hour, 29-minute marathon, the 22-year-old saving three championship points in the fourth set and winning after a tie-break in the fifth. It was Alcaraz's second Roland Garros title, his fifth at Grand Slams, and means he and Italian world number one Sinner have shared the last six majors. Anyone who feared men's tennis would struggle to fill the void left by the retirements of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and - in the not-too-distant future - Novak Djokovic, can rest easy. 'For the sport it's something amazing to have these players after Roger and Rafa - and Novak is still playing, of course - but this kind of rivalry that they have,' said former world number one Ferrero. 'Having these two guys fighting for big trophies, I think we have to be very happy about it in the sport of tennis. 'For them, for sure it's something that they raise their level every time that they go on the court. 'They know they have to play unbelievable tennis to beat the other guy and it's something that is going to help for sure each player to raise the level even more.' Curiously, Alcaraz won major title number five at exactly the same age as his idol Nadal was when he won his fifth, in 2008 at Wimbledon; 22 years, one month and three days. The coincidence was not lost on Ferrero, although he was keen to avoid too many comparisons between his fellow Spaniards. 'I think it's amazing,' added Ferrero. 'The same grand slams at the same age at the same day, it's something that looks unreal. 'It's something very curious. But we don't think too much about it.
