The ratings are in, and the 2025 Genesis Invitational was most-watched non-major since 2024 Players
The first four events of the golf season for CBS are in the books, and the finale of the West Coast Swing ended with an exclamation point.
The final-round broadcast of the 2025 Genesis Invitational averaged 3.4 million viewers, making it the most-watched non-major broadcast since the 2024 Players Championship (3.5 million). Coverage peaked at 4.2 million viewers.
The figure is up 200,000 from Hideki Matsuyama's 2024 win at Riviera Country Club.
A great venue, a packed leaderboard and Tiger Woods, the tournament host, joining Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman in the 18th hole tower for more than 30 minutes in the final round were all important factors.
The final numbers for CBS' four early-season tournaments are as follows:
1.4 million for the Farmers Insurance Open (Saturday finish)
3.3 million at Pebble Beach
2.9 million at the WM Phoenix Open
3.4 million for the Genesis
For comparison, the final round of the American Express, which was on Golf Channel, drew 232,000 viewers. That was the last final round not on CBS, but NBC takes over third- and final-round coverage of the PGA Tour of the next seven events through the Valero Texas Open in April, the week before the Masters.

Why the Goodyear Blimp Hasn't Been Replaced by Drones
For the past 70 years, the Goodyear blimp has been as ubiquitous in the sports world as the national anthem. The tiremaker's small fleet of blimps have floated above football games, NASCAR races, golf tournaments and other events, providing aerial coverage to networks and signaling to fans that a sports spectacle is underway. Goodyear's relationship with television networks and event organizers is a unique and enduring sponsorship. Since 1955, when NBC asked Goodyear to provide live video coverage of the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl, the company has sent live images of games and events to television producers in return for mentions of the company's name and logo during the broadcasts. These 'blimp pops' run about once an hour and can be worth millions of dollars in ad time. ' In an age of digital inserts, screens within screens and other ways for sponsors to reach viewers, Goodyear's technology is quaint. The blimps, which are slightly longer than a Boeing 747, hover about 1,000 feet off the ground and rarely move faster than 70 miles per hour. But their ability to capture a skyline, a stadium or the flight of a golf ball down a fairway has made them an indispensable part of broadcasts. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky: Will Caitlin Clark play against Angel Reese this Saturday?
If you buy something through a link in this article, we may earn commission. Pricing and availability are subject to change. Caitlin Clark's quad injury will keep her off the court for Saturday's Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky game, which is a disappointment to fans and (probably) network execs at CBS, where the game will be broadcast. That's because this Saturday's game has been touted at the first-ever WNBA game to air in prime-time on a major broadcast network, a major win for the WNBA (and about time).
