Loke Wants Approval For Container Port In PD To Be Expedited
SEREMBAN, April 28 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan government, particularly the local authority concerned, has been urged to expedite the processing of the Planning Approval application for the construction of an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven container port in Port Dickson (PD).
Anthony Loke (PH-Chennah) said the project is a crucial catalyst for the development of Negeri Sembilan, particularly in advancing the Malaysia Vision Valley (MVV) 2.0 initiative, and in strengthening the state's industrial sector.
'I have been informed that the investment for the project from a private company has been secured and the funding to build the port is already available. Therefore, I hope the State Executive Council and the Port Dickson Municipal Council, will give serious attention to the development of this project.
'I jokingly told the Prime Minister that Port Dickson has the word 'Port' in its name but there is no actual port, only a jetty. We hope this container port will be realised, as it will be the first container port development within the state's maritime boundary,' he said when debating the motion of thanks for the Royal Address at the State Legislative Assembly sitting here today.
Loke, who is also Transport Minister and Seremban MP, further expressed hope that the state government would prioritise approval of semiconductor investments under the MVV 2.0 project, to ensure the sector continues to grow, especially given the current high demand for semiconductors.
He added that Negeri Sembilan could also seize the opportunity to develop an industrial park through the collaboration under the 'Two Countries, Twin Parks' project between China and Malaysia, for which a memorandum of understanding was recently signed.
Meanwhile, Datuk Saiful Yazan Sulaiman (BN-Johol) proposed the establishment of a special state investment team to explore alternative markets such as the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa, while enhancing facilities for investors in green technology and automation in line with the digitalisation agenda.
He also suggested that government-linked companies should become more aggressive in driving the state's economy, rather than relying solely on conventional business models, as the world is rapidly moving towards AI and data-driven economies.
Opposition Leader Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker (PN–Labu) voiced concern over the rising use of vape among the younger generation in the state, viewing it as a serious threat to public health.

He added authorities confirmed the individual had a known history of scams. Fahmi further noted the Sabah Journalist Association criticised influencers swarming a press conference. These influencers behaved as if they were professional reporters at the event concerning Zara Qairina's death. They asked questions, but their intention was to create content for personal gain, he asserted. Fahmi pointed out that viral views generate significant financial returns for these creators. He lamented that integrity and factual verification were completely ignored in the process. To counter this issue, Fahmi announced a mobilisation of government communication channels. The Information Department, Bernama, and the Broadcasting Department will produce public education content. This initiative aims to help the public understand that not everything on social media is true. On a separate matter, Fahmi addressed the case of five teenagers charged in Kota Kinabalu. He stressed their identities are protected under Section 15 of the Child Act 2001. This is not due to any directive but is required under existing law, Fahmi clarified. Any case involving children under 18 automatically falls under the Child Act, he concluded. KPWKM Ready To Provide Input On Proposed Anti-Bullying Tribunal
GENERAL PUTRAJAYA, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) has expressed its readiness to provide input on the proposal to establish a tribunal to address bullying cases involving students and children. Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said that this was because KPWKM was responsible for the Child Act 2001 and other related legislation. 'The ministry that plays a fairly important role is our ministry (KPWKM). We are just waiting for it to be brought to the Cabinet and will provide input based on what is presented, as we are responsible for the Child Act 2001 and other acts concerning children. 'However, we may have to look at what is relevant to the it falls within the jurisdiction of our ministry (KPWKM), we will work hard on it; (otherwise), it may be under the Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU),' she told reporters after the launch of the Wall of Iron Strong programme by Danone Malaysia here today. Nancy said that the proposal to establish the tribunal should be welcomed, adding that KPWKM had always been committed to collaborating with all parties for the welfare and well-being of children. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was reported to have said today that the proposal to establish a tribunal for bullying cases involving students and children would be brought before a Cabinet meeting. He said that Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said would present the proposal to the Cabinet. Azalina was previously reported as saying that the government was studying the need to enact an Anti-Bullying Act, with emphasis on setting up a tribunal to hear cases involving students and children. She said that discussions at the policy level were crucial, as each relevant ministry, including KPWKM, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Ministry of National Unity, had its own views on the enforcement aspects of the act.

Pamela Ling Case: Police Recorded Statements Of 48 Witnesses
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- Police have summoned 48 witnesses, including four officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), to record their statements to assist in the investigation into the disappearance of Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said close cooperation was also being carried out with enforcement agencies, including the MACC, to ensure that the investigation could be carried out comprehensively. "Cooperation was made with related agencies, including the Immigration Department. For example, the vehicle that was allegedly used (to kidnap Pamela in Putrajaya when she was on her way to an appointment at MACC headquarters on April 9) was found north of the Bukit Kayu Hitam-Thailand border. "This is only a belief, not an affirmative (confirmation)," he said during his winding-up speech on the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) debate for his ministry in the Dewan Rakyat today. He also stressed that police will investigate every report of a kidnapping or missing persons case according to the standard operating procedures (SOP) in accordance with the law. He said that according to police data and records, in every 10 missing persons cases, nine were successfully found, including those who were alive and those who had died. 'Specifically, this missing person incident, in terms of data, does not give an impression that the level (of public safety) is worrying. But we cannot adopt a denial syndrome attitude because if it involves lives, it is crucial from the perspective of the police, and we will use all our resources to overcome it,' he said. Meanwhile, commenting on the issue of national border security, Saifuddin Nasution said the authorities had detected 71 illegal routes for smuggling activities along the border of Sarawak, Malaysia with Kalimantan Indonesia, including hot spots in Ba'kelalan, Lubuk Antu and Tebedu. The government, he said, had approved an allocation of RM28 million to the Home Ministry (KDN) to develop seven additional security control posts, including Pos Raso 1 in Lundu, Pos Sapit in Padawan and Pos Tepoi in Serian.
