Spindrift fans are facing some disappointing news after the company announced that they're discontinuing a fan-favorite product.
Early this week, the wildly popular sparkling water brand shared an update that they would no longer be selling Spiked Spindrift, the alcoholic version of their sparkling water. The hard seltzer has been on shelves since 2021 but in a statement, Spindrift shared that now that many customers are changing their relationship with alcohol, it would no longer be their focus.
"After four years, we've decided to discontinue our Spindrift Spiked product line to focus on what we do best: bringing real ingredients to sparkling water and innovating new non-alcoholic categories with real squeezed fruit," the brand shared in a social media statement.
They continued, "It has been an incredible run, and we're proud of all we accomplished with Spiked, but as more consumers reassess their relationship with alcohol, we're excited to double down on our core Spindrift products."On their website, the brand explained their decision to move away from alcoholic beverages, sharing that they wanted to honor their "long-time commitment to our core sparkling water business" and continue to do what they do best.
They also noted that as Spindrift Spiked was the company's first foray into the wold of alcoholic beverages, they quickly realized that the "business demands substantial resources and time due to the unique route to market, dedicated manufacturing requirements, and necessary regulatory compliance." On top of that, over the past several years, there has also been a "declining hard seltzer demand."
"Making the decision to move on from a beloved product line is never easy. We are incredibly proud of the impact that our team was able to achieve in the marketplace, and this is a difficult decision, but the right one to better serve the needs of our customers, supporting the tremendous momentum of the current business and strong consumer trends towards non-alc beverages," CEO Dave Burwick shared.
Unfortunately, the announcement didn't sit well with many fans of the brand, who saw it as one of the best hard seltzers on the market.
"Why are you ruining my life??? This is the only hard seltzer that doesn't taste artificial or give me a headache," one fan wrote on Instagram, with another adding, "This is so incredibly disappointing, the only seltzer on the market without trash ingredients."
Someone else added, "Genuinely the only alcoholic beverage that has not upset my stomach. This is so sad. I used to drive across state lines to go get cases of this for boating days with my friends."
But despite the backlash, one follower pointed out that those who are going to miss Spiked Spindrift can simply add their alcohol of choice to their regular sparkling water to create a similar drink.
The brand also noted that there's much more innovation to come in the future. After the launch of Spindrift Soda earlier this year, the company says there's new products and winter flavors coming soon.

Meta AI chatbots gave false medical advice and flirted with minors — now the company is restructuring its AI division again

Meta is facing fresh scrutiny after a troubling report revealed that some of its AI chatbot personas on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were allowed to flirt with minors and spread dangerously inaccurate information. The revelations, first reported by Reuters, come just as the company begins its fourth major AI reorganization in six months. The timing couldn't be worse. As Meta pours billions into building out its AI capabilities to compete with rivals like ChatGPT's OpenAI, Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini, this latest scandal exposes glaring holes in how the company is managing safety, oversight and ethical boundaries. According to internal documents obtained by Reuters, Meta's GenAI: Content Risk Standards once allowed AI characters to engage in 'romantic' or 'sensual' conversations with underage users. In one alarming example, a chatbot was permitted to tell a child: While the policy prohibited direct sexual content involving children under 13, it still permitted flirtatious language that many critics say veers dangerously close to grooming behavior. Meta told Reuters it has since removed these allowances, calling them 'erroneous and inconsistent with our policies.' The same leaked document revealed that Meta's guidelines did not require AI bots to provide accurate medical advice. One bot reportedly claimed Stage 4 colon cancer could be treated with 'healing quartz crystals,' so long as a disclaimer was attached. Other examples allowed for racist content, including the suggestion that 'Black people are dumber than white people,' framed as a controversial opinion. Meta responded by saying it has revised the standards and doesn't condone hate speech or misleading medical information. However, the company has not made a revised version of the GenAI guidelines publicly available. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. In what appears to be both a defensive and strategic move, Meta is now restructuring its AI division for the fourth time since February, according to a separate report from The Information. The company is dividing its AI efforts into four new units: Products, Infrastructure, the FAIR research lab, and a new experimental group tasked with developing future a major shift—and a possible acknowledgment that Meta's fragmented AI strategy hasn't kept pace with the rapid growth and scrutiny in the space. The restructuring also follows reports that Meta offered $100 million signing bonuses to poach top AI talent from rivals like OpenAI and Anthropic, a move that stirred internal resentment among long-tenured employees. Meta's generative AI tools are increasingly embedded in the daily experiences of billions of users, including teens and children. Missteps like these don't just damage reputation—they expose users to potentially harmful interactions at AI adoption accelerates, the pressure is on tech giants to balance speed, innovation and safety. Meta's recent moves suggest it knows it must do better, but it remains to be seen whether another internal shuffle will be enough to fix the foundational Tom's Guide on Google News to get our up-to-date news, how-tos, and reviews in your feeds. 7 Ways Planners Can Use Pinterest for Inspiration

Pinterest is much more than just a social media site for hobbyists. It's the second-fastest growing social media site (after Instagram), with more than half a billion monthly active users. Millennials and Gen Z'ers are a growing percentage of Pinterest users and are among the platform's most active groups, with some estimates saying that Gen Z'ers account for more than 40% of active users monthly. For meeting planners, the best way to start using Pinterest is to just jump in, exploring its photos, mood boards, and curated collections. From there, you can start creating your own boards for your various meetings and events, and for different aspects of each, such as F&B, event design, or marketing. Following are 7 Pinterest tips for planners: 1. Know the Keywords The secret to searching on Pinterest is to combine broad event concepts with specific planning objectives. For example, if you're planning a final evening event, you might search for 'elegant decor for an awards ceremony.' Or, if you want to create a custom cocktail for your event, you could try 'creative mocktails for a poolside cocktail party.' Following are some popular search terms for event planning: For event decor: event design ideas, corporate event decor; event lighting ideas, themed event ideas For F&B: creative catering ideas, food stations for events, mini desserts for events For networking: Interactive event ideas, corporate team-building activities, icebreaker ideas for events, CSR team-building For meeting formats: creative stage design ideas, creative seminar setups, outdoor corporate event setups, creative seating arrangements for meetings For gifting: corporate gifting ideas, trade show swag ideas, eco-friendly giveaways, luxury attendee gifts. 2. Create Collages Pinterest gives you the ability to combine multiple images into a single, interactive pin, making it easier to visualize how all the elements of a meeting that you have chosen would fit together. Think of the collage as a 360 degree view of your event. Check out the Skift Meetings Toolkit on Pinterest: 3. Follow Other Pinners In addition to planners, many suppliers, from entertainers to AV companies, have their own Pinterest accounts where they post the creative ideas they see at events. A majority of wedding and social event planners are also on Pinterest, and they can be a great source of inspiration, especially when it comes to F&B and decor. 4. Stay on Top of Trends Pinterest prides itself on being the place where ideas emerge before they hit the mainstream. For example, it's the social media site where interior designers and fashion designers test out concepts. If you search Pinterest for '2025 Event Trends,' you'll see dozens of Pinners' compilations all in one place. 5. Get Out of the Meetings Industry Bubble Many meeting planners tend to search out meetings industry web sites and for inspiration. Pinterest runs across all industries, so it allows you to explore trends in fashion, retail, food and beverage, and interior design — all of which have some influence on events. (Think: Pantone's Color of the Year) 6. Share Ideas With Internal/External Clients Every Pinterest board is shareable. As long as your collaborator has a Pinterest account, you can invite him or her to view, comment, and even add pins. You can also make a board secret, so that only you and invited individuals can see it. Or you can open it up and use it for presentations. 7. Follow Pinterest's Trends Reports Pinterest publishes its "Pinterest Predicts" trends report annually, which forecasts emerging trends based on user search data and behavior. In addition, the Pinterest News Room publishes seasonal reports. The Summer 2025 Report pointed to trends including nature bathing among Gen Z'ers, savory cocktails using fresh herbs, and a return to the early 2000's Boho aesthetic, among others.
