Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission
(
UPPSC
) is gearing up to conduct the preliminary examination for the 2023 recruitment of Review Officers (RO) and Assistant Review Officers (ARO) on July 27. In preparation, a crucial meeting was held on Tuesday at the Commission's office, attended by nodal officers from all 75 districts across the state.
This year, more than 10.76 lakh candidates have applied for just 411 posts, with the exam set to take place at 2,382 centres statewide. Officials were briefed on strict protocols to prevent cheating and paper leaks—a response to last year's exam held on February 11, which was cancelled due to a major leak.
To ensure transparency and security, biometric verification and iris scanning will be mandatory for all candidates. Admit cards will be issued ten days before the exam. Authorities have significantly ramped up surveillance, including CCTV monitoring, flying squads, and online surveillance cells at every centre. Sector magistrates will oversee operations on ground.

The total compensation of Dh400,000 (approx. ₹95 lakh) will be paid to Musthafa's mother, wife, son, and daughter ahead of the daughter's wedding in Septe mber 2025. Details of the incident and legal proceedings Musthafa Odayappurath, originally from Malappuram district, Kerala, was fatally struck by a car while crossing Al Bateen–Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street in Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court initially imposed a fine of Dh20,000 on the driver and mandated a Dh200,000 diya (blood money) payment to the family under Sharia law. Considering the diya amount insufficient to support the bereaved family, YAB Legal Services, legally led by Salam Pappinissery, filed a supplementary compensation claim with the UAE's Insurance Authority. After thorough legal proceedings including submission of essential documents such as a legal heir certificate, breadwinner certificate, and court judgment, the court directed the insurance company to pay an additional Dh200,000. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Best-Paying Degrees of 2025 Are Not What You Think Best Paying Degrees | Search Ads Learn More Undo This raised the total compensation to Dh400,000. How a missed call rescued teen Delhi girl who left home after fight with father and was forcibly married to a 40-year-old in UP
A 13-year-old girl from Delhi's Bharat Nagar, who had gone missing after a dispute with her father, was rescued nearly a month later in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh. Police said the girl had been trafficked and forcibly married to a 40-year-old man in UP using a fake Aadhaar card . Police sources said the family lodged a missing complaint on July 22 when the girl could not be found. A case under Section 137 (kidnapping) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered, a TOI report stated. Missed call led to rescue 'While we were searching for the girl, her family informed us that they had received a missed call from an unknown number. When they called back, a woman answered and said her daughter-in-law might have made the call, then abruptly disconnected it,' a police source said. The number shared with police had one wrong digit. A team reached Mathura, but it turned out to be a false lead. After getting the correct number, police traced the location to Shamli and rescued the girl from a home. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like They Are Unstoppable: The Most Beautiful and Talented Female Athletes Undo How the girl was trafficked Investigations revealed the girl had left home and taken a bus to a railway station before randomly boarding a train to Meerut. At the station, she met a 20-year-old man who promised help but lured her into a trap. Along with a 55-year-old associate, he took her to Shamli, where she was married off on July 24 to a 40-year-old man in exchange for Rs 15,000-20,000. The traffickers used a fake Aadhaar card to show her age as 19 years. Four days after the forced marriage , the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by the man. Live Events Fourth accused arrested Delhi Police later arrested a fourth accused identified as Ramanjot Singh, 24, a resident of Ghaziabad and a cyber café owner. Deputy commissioner of police (northwest) Bhisham Singh said Ramanjot created the forged Aadhaar card that showed the girl as an adult. 'The mobile phone used to create and share the fake Aadhaar card was recovered from his possession. He used a PDF editor application to manipulate the document,' the DCP said. Marriage conducted in secrecy Police said the forced marriage took place secretly at a house in Moti Nagar, west Delhi. 'The marriage happened in secret; only the family of the 40-year-old man and the two accused were present. They also recorded videos of the ceremony. The girl was threatened with dire consequences if she objected to the marriage,' an investigator said. Wider probe into trafficking Police are investigating whether the accused were part of a larger human trafficking network. A senior officer said, 'We have found that one of them was frequently visiting remote areas in Odisha. We are now verifying whether girls were lured from there.' Arrests and charges So far, police have arrested four people in connection with the case — the 40-year-old man she was married to, Vikas (20), Ashu (55), and Ramanjot Singh (24). They have been booked under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including human trafficking, exploitation of a trafficked person, and forgery. Sections 6 and 21 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Sections 9 and 10 of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, have also been invoked.
