Tesla only keen on selling their cars in India, no further plans: H D Kumaraswamy
New Delhi [India], June 24 (ANI): Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday said that US vehicle major Tesla has so far shown interest only in opening a showroom in India, referring to the speculations of the company's intent to setup a manufacturing unit in India.
'Tesla is only interested in opening a showroom till now. They want to sell their car in India. There is no further development about Tesla,' the Union Minister said, speaking on the sidelines of the launch of a portal that will enable foreign electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers to submit their applications to manufacture EVs in India.
Launched by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), the scheme is expected to attract investments from global EV manufacturers and promote India as a manufacturing destination for e-vehicles.
The Scheme will also help put India on the global map for manufacturing of EVs, generate employment and achieve the goal of 'Make in India.'
The approved applicants will be allowed to import Completely Built-in Units (CBUs) of e-4W with a minimum CIF value of USD 35,000 at reduced customs duty of 15 per cent for a period of 5 years from the Application Approval Date to encourage the global manufacturers to invest under the Scheme.
Approved applicants would be required to make a minimum investment of Rs 4,150 crores in line with the provisions of the scheme.
The scheme is strategically crafted to position India as a global hub for electric vehicle manufacturing.
With a minimum investment threshold of Rs 4,150 crore, it provides an enabling policy environment for leading global and domestic players to establish long-term manufacturing footprints in the country.
According to the Ministry, the application portal would be open for applications from 24th June 2025, 10.30 a.m. and will remain open until 21st October 2025 till 6:00 p.m.
The Ministry said that it has approved a forward-looking scheme to promote the domestic manufacture of passenger cars, with a special focus on electric vehicles (EVs). (ANI)

The expressway aims to link 18 significant pilgrimage sites across the state, including the three and a half Shaktipeeths, two Jyotirlingas, Pandharpur, and Ambejogai. The state cabinet has approved the planning and land acquisition for the high-speed corridor, to be developed through a dedicated project corporation. A provision of Rs 20,000 crore has been made for its implementation, aiming to improve regional connectivity and boost religious tourism. Focusing on the welfare of tribal communities, the state government has approved a substantial increase in allowances for students residing in government-run tribal hostels. The monthly subsistence and meal allowances will now be doubled, offering relief to families from economically weaker backgrounds. Furthermore, the annual allowance for the purchase of educational materials has also been significantly increased, a step that is expected to enhance access to quality education for thousands of tribal students across Maharashtra. The cabinet also granted revised administrative approval for the Koyna Dam Base Hydroelectric Project, one of the state's key renewable energy initiatives. In a move aimed at simplifying the tax regime, the government will introduce a new Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax Bill in the upcoming legislative session. Amendments to facilitate the settlement of pending taxes, interest, penalties, and late fees for public sector undertakings will also be introduced. Other notable decisions include a waiver of Rs 31.75 crore in resettlement fees for people displaced from land reserved for the High Court complex at Bandra East. These premises will now be transferred to the public works department free of cost. The government also approved the use of 7,000 sq m of cemetery land in Mouje Chikhali, Pimpri-Chinchwad, for a sewage treatment plant. 3.3 lakh kg of mangoes worth Rs 4 crore sold during kesar mango festival at Ahmedabad Haat
Gandhinagar: The state govt said that 3.30 lakh kilogrammes of mangoes worth over Rs 4 crore were sold at the month-long Kesar Mango Festival 2025, which was held at the Ahmedabad Haat in the Vastrapur area of the city. Eighty-five mango farmers from across the state put up stalls at the mango festival, which was organised by the Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation. An official statement said that the state govt has been organising the Kesar Mango Festival since 2007 to ensure citizens get chemical-free mangoes and farmers get fair prices for their produce. This year's festival was organised for a month beginning May 16. State agriculture minister Raghavji Patel said that this year, farmers sold over 3.30 lakh kilogrammes of mangoes, earning an income of about Rs 4 crore. In the last festival organised in 2023, 2.70 lakh kg of mangoes were sold, he added.
