Rabiot, Rowe put up for sale by Marseille after bust-up
France midfielder Rabiot and England Under-21 forward Rowe were involved in a heated exchange in the team's dressing room after Friday's match, which Rennes won with a stoppage-time goal despite playing for an hour with 10 men.
Marseille called the players' behaviour 'unacceptable' in a brief club statement which explained the decision to put both of them up for sale. Rabiot and Rowe were informed of the news on Monday, it said.
Rabiot's mother and agent, Veronique, told RTL radio earlier on Tuesday that Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi had taken the decision due to a 'lack of commitment'.
Marseille initially denied reports of a fight, but a source close to the club confirmed to AFP a report from French sports daily L'Equipe that said 'blows were exchanged between the two men'.
The 30-year-old Rabiot joined Marseille last season after five years with Juventus and helped the club qualify for the Champions League.
It is not his first run-in with club or country though, having left Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 after being sidelined for six months over a contract issue.
He also refused to go on France's standby list ahead of the 2018 World Cup and was not selected by coach Didier Deschamps for two years as a result.
Rowe, 22, signed from Norwich last year and scored three times in 28 games in his first season in Ligue 1. - AFP

Celtic, Fenerbahce held to draws in Champions League play-offs
PARIS: Celtic's Champions League hopes are firmly in the balance after they were held to a goalless draw by Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan in Glasgow in the first leg of their play-off tie on Wednesday, while Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce played out a goalless draw with Benfica. The Scottish champions pushed Bayern Munich close in the knockout phase play-offs last season after finishing 21st out of 36 teams in the league stage. But Brendan Rodgers's team could not break down the champions of Kazakhstan, who have already come through three qualifying rounds to get to this stage and are eyeing a first ever appearance in the competition proper. James Forrest was denied by a great save from Kairat goalkeeper Aleksandr Zarutskiy right at the start of the second half from one of few clear chances that fell Celtic's way at Parkhead. At the other end, Brazilian Edmilson saw a chip from inside the centre circle for Kairat land on the roof of the net following a mistake by Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers. Daizen Maeda then found himself in behind the Kairat defence late on but could only shoot straight at substitute goalkeeper Temirlan Anarbekov. Salah named PFA player of the year for a record third time
MANCHESTER: Mohamed Salah became the first player to win the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) men's player of the year for a third time on Tuesday after guiding Liverpool to Premier League glory. The Egyptian scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists to propel the Reds to a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title with four games to spare last season. Salah also scooped the award in the 2017/18 and 2021/22 seasons. The 33-year-old picked up the Football Writers' Association and Premier League player of the year awards in recent months. Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers won young player the year following a breakthrough campaign that saw the attacking midfielder make his senior international debut for England.
