Big boost for army as India plans to develop suicide drone with range of 900 km, check its Pinaka connection, bad news for China, Pakistan due to...
India's long-range hitting capabilities: In a significant development strengthening India's long-range hitting capabilities, India, under the leadership of PM Modi is developing a long-range suicide drone with a range of over 900 km for precision strikes deep into enemy territory. In the recent Make In India push, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL) had invited technical and commercial bids from several companies.
As a part of the process Solar Industries, the companies associated with Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher system scored 80.30, outperforming others like Bharat Dynamics (78.62), Rafael MFHB (76.78), and Bharat Electronics (73.43). Therefore, CSIR-NAL will now proceed with a joint collaboration with the company to develop the drone. Why Indian Army wants suicide drone?
Notably, the Indian Army and Air Force have shown strong interest in acquiring large numbers of these drones to bolster their offensive and defensive capabilities and with this step, the dream is going to come true. How will India use kamikaze-style drones?
These kamikaze-style drones will carry explosives and use advanced targeting to hit high-value targets, with the Army and Air Force showing strong interest. Deployment is expected in the coming years to boost India's defense capabilities. PM Modi inaugurated Solar Defence and Aerospace's Loitering Munition Test Range
In another related development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Loitering Munition Test Range of Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited, which is supplying the Nagastra-1 'suicide drone' and key components of the Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System to the Indian Army, in Nagpur.
'I visited the Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited facility in Nagpur and inaugurated the Loitering Munition Test Range. This will significantly boost self-reliance in the defence sector,' PM Modi said in a post on X.
The agreement, formalised during the World Economic Forum in Davos, envisages a project, with an investment of approximately Rs 12,700 crore, will focus on expanding production capabilities in critical defence products such as drones, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), counter-drone systems, energetic materials, and next-generation explosives.

GCC says acceding to workers' salary demand would cost Rs 164 crore a year
CHENNAI: Besides regularisation of employment, the other key demand of conservancy workers protesting against Greater Chennai Corporation's move to privatise solid waste management in two zones has been to ensure that their present salary of nearly Rs 23,000 per month is not reduced. However, meeting such a demand could cost GCC roughly Rs 164 crore per year, a senior official said. The official said that if this demand of the workers in the two zones - Royapuram and Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar - are met, it would be inevitable to avoid such demands emerging from all the remaining 13 zones. 'Meeting the revision citywide would burden the corporation by Rs 164 crore a year,' the official said. As per June 2024 data, there were 3,996 sanitation staff in the two zones zones — 2,043 permanent and 1,953 temporary. They were receiving Rs 753/day from GCC (`22,590/month). In contrast, with CESPL (Ramky Group), which has bagged the contract for these two zones, these workers would get only Rs 652.6 per day (Rs 19,578), which is inclusive of deductions for PF and ESIC, as per corporation sources. Their present salary from GCC does not include PF or ESIC deductions.

Police obstruct farmers' ‘Quit Corporate' rally
Ongole: Police authorities obstructed a farmers' demonstration organised by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha and Trade Unions Joint Forum here on Wednesday, citing restrictions under Section 30 of the Police Act. The 'Quit Corporate - Quit Agriculture' rally was intended to protest against the corporatisation of agriculture and demand implementation of the MS Swaminathan Commission recommendations. SKM District convener Chunduri Rangarao led farmers from various organisations, including Andhra Pradesh Raithu Sangham, AP Rythu Sangham, Akhila Bharata Rythu Coolie Sangham, Kisan Congress, CPM, and Congress Party, who arrived at Mini Stadium with tractors, motorcycles, and flags at 10 AM. Following the obstruction by the police, the organisers converted the rally into a protest. Speaking at the event, Rangarao criticised the BJP government for benefiting corporate interests while suppressing democratic rights. He reminded the gathering that they had democratically opposed Chandrababu Naidu's arrest when he was the opposition leader, questioning why the current government was now acting autocratically against democratic voices. Rangarao said that the farmers of the country are now calling for the 'Quit Corporate' against the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi against the farmers, and to present the agriculture in the country to the corporate companies. AP Rythu Sangham district secretary Pamidi Venkatrao questioned why the central government could waive Rs 16 lakh crore in corporate loans but refused to waive farmers' debts. He warned that attempts to suppress movements would lead to the same fate as previous governments. CPM district secretary Sk Mabu alleged the government was implementing agricultural laws through backdoor methods, specifically criticising the allocation of 8348 acres of valuable farmland to Indosol company. Other speakers, including Hanuma Reddy, Chittipati Venkateswarlu, and Sk Saida, condemned the government's double standards, pointing out that ruling party events don't require Section 30 clearance. Other leaders warned that suppressing public concerns through force would inevitably lead to public backlash against the government.
