Chaava and Jaat actor Viineet Kumar Singh: Lucknow has been important for my career
'My first memory of moving out of Varanasi was coming to Lucknow. I came here as a mini (under 12) to play basketball at the KD Singh Babu Stadium. Big cars, tall buildings, big showrooms were all novelty for me. Then, there used to be Nixon Market near the stadium, which sold foreign goods at economical prices, where I shopped. So, whenever I get time during shoots, I go to the stadium for a while, take a stroll in the erstwhile basketball court and relive my memories. Bachpan se hi lagaav raha hai Lucknow se,' he says.
The actor recalls, 'Later, I came here for a 21-day camp. I remember buying a purse for mummy, a T-shirt for papa and things related to sports for my brother and sisters. I spent all my money buying gifts for them. These are very fond and strong memories.'
'Rangbaaz (2022), my most successful OTT show so far, was shot entirely in Lucknow and Sitapur. Besides Bareilly and Varanasi, a portion of Mukkabaaz (2018) was also shot here. I extensively shot for Sudhir Mishra's DaasDev (2018) here, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020), and Match Fixing, which released earlier this year,' he says.
Viineet adds, 'If we move bit further, Gangs of Wasseypur was 90% shot in Varanasi. My next with Anurag (Kashyap, director) sir Nishanchi has been extensively shot here in two schedules (the movie is in two parts). Lucknow is a very shoot-friendly place. Since I am also a writer, I make sure that all my stories have my state in some way or another. Kaafi yogdaan raha hai iss shehar ka meri journey mein.'

Divya Dutta on debuting in Telugu with Deva Katta's Mayasabha: ‘What better than to play a powerful woman?'
Actor Divya Dutta is on a roll. She began this year by playing the conspiring Soyarabai in Laxman Utekar's Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava, which is the highest-grossing film of this year. And now, she is gearing up to debut in Telugu with the SonyLIV web series Mayasabha, directed by Deva Katta. 'I knew Chhaava would do well, but the euphoria it received was heartening,' says the actor in a chat with Hindustan Times, adding, '2024 and 2025 have been such great years for me work-wise. Now I'm even debuting in Telugu.' Divya Dutta debuts in Telugu with Deva Katta's political web series Mayasabha. Divya Dutta in the world of Mayasabha Set in the 1970s and 80s, Mayasabha explores the dynamic between two rival politicians, Krishnama Naidu and Rami Reddy, played by Aadhi Pinisetty and Chaitanya Rao. Divya plays the formidable Iravati Basu, who commands respect in a world governed by men. 'I believe this role is absolutely apt to begin my innings in Telugu. What better than to play a woman in politics who holds her own while facing off men?' says Divya. The actor says she was drawn to the power her character commandeers and how Deva explained the story to her. 'I was immediately drawn to the way Deva Katta narrated Mayasabha to me. It's lovely as an actor when you get to tap into nuances and play with layers in any character. Everything from the way she exchanges looks to the way she stands her own has been fleshed out so well, it was a ball to play her,' says Divya. Whistling to Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan films Divya is all praise for her co-stars, stating, 'Aadhi and I got along immensely from the moment I met him. He's such an amazing guy, a brilliant actor and just super fun to be with. It took a while for Chaitanya to open up to me, but we got there eventually. I've been such an ardent admirer of Nassar sir, so to share the screen with him was amazing. I'm an absolute fan girl.' What's more, the actor is candid about her fondness for other actors down south, too. 'I've grown up watching South films and whistling when Kamal Haasan or Rajinikanth comes on-screen. Deva Katta has told me he'll bring me to Hyderabad, and I'm already doing a Hindi film produced by Rana Daggubati. I've already put my footsteps here and would love to belong because the South is coming out with such amazing projects. The grandeur in their films is something else,' says an excited Divya. On wanting dessert after roti Having begun her career in the 1990s and starring in films like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Sharmajee Ki Beti, Divya says she's now looking for roles she can sink her teeth into. 'I have two films with Manoj Bajpayee, one with Jimmy and a biopic with Neeraj Kabi, apart from a huge show on JioHotstar. That hunger to play good roles was always there, but now that I've eaten roti, I'm craving some dessert,' says Divya, adding, 'Very few author-backed roles have been offered to me in my career. I've always had to make that space by bringing the X factor, and it was a huge mehanat (hard work). But I feel things are changing now.' The actor says she has noticed how the roles written for women don't just revolve around the trope of 'one hero, one heroine'. 'Everybody is now playing characters, and there's a lovely competitiveness to it. It's not like how it used to be…how typical heroines were perceived to have short shelf lives. We're now discussing women who are 40 and older, roles are written so beautifully now,' says Divya. Even as she forays down south, Divya says there are a few things she would love to change in Bollywood. 'I just really wish we concentrated more on stories and less on other things. And that there was ample time to showcase films in theatres before they hit OTT. I've gone to theatres the last few weeks and seen full houses. So the audience is interested, they just don't want to be fed the same things,' she rounds off.

Ahaan Panday was all smiles as he greeted the paparazzi on Tuesday night following the roaring box office success of his debut film Saiyaara. The young actor, dressed in a blue hoodie and denim, was initially seen wearing a white mask. However, at the paparazzi's repeated requests, Ahaan sweetly pulled it down, flashing a warm smile and acknowledging the congratulatory wishes coming his way. He even clicked a selfie with a fan waiting outside and graciously thanked everyone for the love the film has been receiving. The grand gesture of gratitude comes after Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri and produced by YRF, officially crossed the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide within just three weeks of release. According to the trade website Sacnilk, the romantic musical collected Rs 302.10 crore net and Rs 362.50 crore gross in India. With an overseas collection of Rs 130 crore, the worldwide total stands at Rs 492.50 crore. However, a press release from the film's team stated even higher numbers — Rs 308 crore net and Rs 376 crore gross domestically, and Rs 131 crore from overseas — taking the global total to Rs 507 crore. Celebrating the milestone, YRF shared on Instagram, '#Saiyaara found a home in your hearts – and we couldn't be more thankful." The Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda-starrer is now officially the second-highest-grossing Indian film of the year after Chhaava, which raked in Rs 807.91 crore worldwide. Saiyaara has also surpassed the lifetime collections of big-budget titles like War (Rs 471 crore) and Dunki (Rs 454 crore), solidifying Ahaan's arrival in the industry. Saiyaara Box Office Collection Day 19: Ahaan Panday's film becomes second Indian film of 2025 to cross ₹500 cr mark
Saiyaara Box Office Collection Day 19: Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's debut film Saiyaara remains unstoppable at the box office even after 19 days since its release. The film is helmed by YRF and directed by Mohit Suri. Saiyaara has now touched yet another milestone, arguably the biggest so far, crossing ₹ 500 crore worldwide, claimed the film team. YRF shared that Saiyaara has grossed ₹ 507 crore at the global box office in 18 days. Sharing the news on their Instagram, the production house's official post read, '#Saiyaara found a home in your hearts - and we couldn't be more thankful.' Reacting to the news, YRF's CEO, Akshaye Widhani, who backed the film, said in a statement, 'As a company, we share this historic success with the captain of the ship, Mohit Suri who has given this generation a defining love story they can call their own, the incredible debutants Ahaan & Aneet who made the world feel love on screen through their brilliant acting, Aditya Chopra for his unwavering guidance, the entire cast and crew of Saiyaara and everyone at YRF for their invaluable contribution towards making this film into a global phenomenon.' He added, 'The success of Saiyaara, a pure love story, once again proves that the romance genre is probably the one to get most love from audience if we give them the right film to cherish and endorse. Saiyaara recently crossed the ₹ 300 crore mark in India on day 18. However, industry tracker Sacnilk is yet to confirm Saiyaara's ₹ 500 crore achievement at the international box office. According to their website, on day 18, Saiyaara's Worldwide Collection stood at ₹ 492.50 crore. Its Overseas Collection was ₹ 130 crore on the same day.
