Negeri Sembilan records RM250.66 million in revenue as of mid-May
SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan recorded RM250.66 million in state revenue from January until yesterday, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
He said the amount represents 42.48 per cent of this year's revenue target of RM590 million and is higher than the figure recorded during the same period last year.
'Negeri Sembilan also attracted investments worth RM7.25 billion last year, which led to the creation of more than 4,600 job opportunities,' he said in his speech at the State Government's 2024 Excellent Service Awards (APC), where 519 recipients were honoured today.
At the event, Aminuddin also launched the official logo for Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026 (TMNS2026), which highlights three key tourism segments: beach tourism, ecotourism, and the cultural heritage of Adat Perpatih.
He said the TMNS2026 logo symbolises the state's diverse attractions, including the beach resorts of Port Dickson, the lush rainforests at the tail end of the Titiwangsa Range which offer ecotourism experiences, and the iconic long-roof architecture representing the uniqueness of Adat Perpatih.
Aminuddin added that the selection of these tourism products aligns with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026) campaign, which focuses on cultural richness, natural beauty, and Malaysia's global appeal.
He emphasised the need to implement various strategic initiatives to achieve the target of 20 million tourist arrivals this year. These include stepping up international promotions through tourism expos, overseas sales missions, and partnerships with both domestic and international travel agents.
He also urged all civil servants in the state to serve as ambassadors for TMNS2026 and to continuously improve and reform work processes to enhance the quality of public service delivery.

Klias hardcore poverty initiative bears fruit

Klias Assemblyman Datuk Isnin Aliasnih said this success was the result of the continuous efforts of the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor as part of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) agenda. Advertisement Isnin said E-Kasih data showed there were 168 hardcore poor in Klias in 2023, which decreased to 11 by the end of 2024 and finally reached zero this year. 'This year, it is zero, meaning there are no more hardcore poor in Klias. This shows that the government's various initiatives to address this issue have been effective. 'The government provided extensive assistance to ensure these individuals rose above the poverty line, as we understood their struggles, some earning less than RM250 a month and some even without homes,' 'We provided them with SMJ homes and enrolled them in the Mini Estet Sejahtera (Mesej) programme to boost their economic standing. They have now successfully escaped poverty.' He said this to reporters after officiating the Klias Gagasan Rakyat Annual Delegates Meeting at Dewan Pa' Musa here. Isnin, who is also Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing, said five dilapidated schools in the area will be upgraded with an allocation of RM118 million. The schools are SK Mempagar, SK Takuli, SK Rancangan Klias, SK Pintas and SK Kubu. Additionally, a RM35 million allocation has been approved for the construction of the Beaufort District Education Office. 'My voice was heard during the Gagasan Rakyat Annual Assembly debate last year on education issues, leading to this substantial allocation for Klias. 'Not just that, Beaufort is also set to become one of Sabah's industrial hubs with a 5,000-acre area to be developed as an industrial centre. 'Once this project begins, it will impact local development and the economy, especially in Klias. The community must seize this opportunity,' he said. When asked about preparations for the 17th State Election, Isnin, who is also a Gagasan Rakyat Supreme Council Member said the party machinery is fully prepared to defend the Klias seat at any time. 'All party wings, including grassroots machinery, have been instructed to be ready. Not in e-Kasih? Johor has a new affordable home plan for you
ISKANDAR PUTERI, June 5 — Low-income earners in Johor who are not listed under the federal e-Kasih database can now own their first home. Johor Housing and Local Government chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said the state government will expand its Projek Rumah Prihatin Johor (RPJ) to all 56 state constituencies in August. 'The move was taken following feedback and complaints that there are still many low-income earners who are not listed in the e-Kasih programme and have failed to be eligible for the state government's affordable housing schemes,' he said. He said the RPJ was developed to support those ineligible for existing federal and state housing programmes. Mohd Jafni said the RPJ was first launched as a pilot in the Machap and Bukit Permai constituencies. Following its success, the state is ready to roll it out statewide. Under the RPJ, homes will be built on land owned by the applicants or their families, with supporting proof via promissory letters. Buyers can choose between a two-bedroom unit priced at RM66,000 or a three-bedroom unit at RM86,000. Both options include a RM30,000 subsidy from the Johor government. Applicants must cover the remaining cost – RM36,000 or RM56,000 depending on the house type – via a loan. 'These homes will be completed within seven months,' said Mohd Jafni. He said the programme is aimed at those who have land but cannot afford to build their own homes. 'Applications are currently open and can be made at the respective district office. 'The approval process only takes three months if all the applicants' conditions are met,' he said.
