Nara Lokesh Invites Aerospace Firms to Andhra Pradesh After Karnataka Drops Devanahalli Project
Soon after, Andhra Pradesh stepped in. Minister Nara Lokesh invited aerospace companies to set up their units in Andhra Pradesh instead. He highlighted that the State has 8,000 acres of land ready near Bengaluru and is offering strong incentives through its aerospace policy.
Karnataka's Industries Minister G. Parameshwara responded by saying that the State will not let investors move away. He promised to offer land at other locations within Karnataka to keep the companies from shifting to Andhra Pradesh or other states.
However, farmer groups in Andhra Pradesh are also raising objections. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha stated that land in the Lepakshi Knowledge Park area cannot be offered without proper consent and compensation to farmers, as per the Land Acquisition Act.
On July 15, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah officially confirmed that the land acquisition in Devanahalli and nearby villages has been fully cancelled. Only farmers who willingly give up land will be included in future plans, and they will be offered higher compensation and developed plots.

Singapore tour a grand success: Lokesh
Vijayawada: Minister for IT and Human Resources Development Nara Lokesh on Thursday said that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's five-day tour of Singapore, aimed at attracting investments, was a 'grand success'. He revealed that Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 45,000 crore were signed with the Government of Singapore and the Singapore Investment Corporation, committing to investments in Andhra Pradesh over the next five years. Speaking to media persons here, Lokesh highlighted Chandrababu Naidu's enduring positive image in Singapore, irrespective of his political status. He criticised the previous YSRCP government for unilaterally cancelling MoUs with Singapore, citing unsubstantiated corruption charges. Lokesh detailed the extensive engagements of the Chief Minister's team in Singapore, which included 26 face-to-face interviews and 19 meetings with industrialists. The delegation also undertook visits to key facilities such as Tuas Port, Jurong Petrochemicals, and companies in the IT, electronics, green energy, sports, and real estate sectors. The minister further announced that the mega Greenfield steel plant being established by AM/NS India, a joint venture between Lakshmi Mittal 's ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel of Japan in Andhra Pradesh, would commence production by 2029. Defending the decision to allot land to software giant TCS at 99 paise per acre, he asserted that this move was strategic to put Visakhapatnam on the global IT map. Consequently, Cognizant has also come forward to establish an office in Visakhapatnam. Lokesh reiterated the state government's commitment to allotting land to companies primarily to generate employment for the youth. He confirmed that TCS operations in Visakhapatnam will begin in September, followed by Cognizant starting operations in October.

Land acquired for public projects cannot be reclaimed by owners: HC
Hyderabad: Telangana high court on Thursday clarified that land once acquired for public projects cannot be claimed back by the property owners on the grounds that it has not been fully utilised for the purpose, even if the owners are willing to return the compensation. A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin, made these observations while hearing a writ appeal challenging an earlier order of the court dismissing the land owner's request to hand over the unutilised land in connection with land acquired in Datarpalli village, Gajwel of Siddipet district for the Pranahitha Chevella irrigation project. The judges said they did not find any error in the earlier high court judgement, and in the absence of any provisions in the Act as urged by the petitioner, they cannot entertain such an appeal. She contended that only 18 guntas of the land was used and sought the return of the unused 30 guntas, offering to pay for it. The court held that the land was acquired under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, which does not contain any provision for the return of unutilised land, unlike the 2013 (Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement) Act. Since the acquisition was completed before the 2013 Act came into force, and compensation was already paid and possession taken, the petitioner could not claim the land back, the court said.

Honeytrap allegations by K'taka minister are 'baseless', claims sources as CID submits report
Bengaluru: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has completed its investigation into the "honeytrap" allegations made by the Karnataka Cooperation Minister K.N. Rajanna and submitted its report to the state government, sources confirmed on Thursday. The report has concluded that the allegations of attempted honeytrap against Minister Rajanna are baseless, sources added. Sources also said that the CID has submitted the report to the Union Home Ministry after concluding its investigation. The issue had triggered a major controversy in the state politics during March this year. Minister Rajanna had made a statement on the floor of the Assembly, claiming that three attempts were made to honeytrap him. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had protested the statement and demanded a thorough probe. Following the chaos in the Assembly, the Congress-led state government suspended 18 BJP MLAs, and Marshals had to lift them out of the House. The suspension of the BJP MLAs was revoked recently. Minister Rajanna had met Home Minister G. Parameshwara and demanded an investigation into the matter. The issue took a new turn when discussions began surfacing about the possible involvement of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in the honeytrap attempts. Minister Rajanna, a close confidant of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, had demanded that Shivakumar be removed as the State Congress President and had even offered to resign and assume the post himself. He also publicly supported the view that if the Chief Minister were to be replaced, a Dalit leader should be appointed to the post. Interestingly, Minister Rajanna remained silent and stopped attacks on Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar following the escalation of the controversy surrounding the alleged honeytrap attempts. Sources revealed that Minister Rajanna did not provide any concrete evidence to the CID and claimed that he did not recognise or know anyone involved. He reportedly told the CID that when an attempt was made to hold his hand, he slapped the girl and sent her out. There was no CCTV installed at his residence, and no entry related to the incident was recorded in the official visitor's registry. Based on these findings, CID officials concluded that Minister Rajanna's allegations were unfounded. Meanwhile, Home Minister G. Parameshwara while speaking in Bengaluru on Thursday, said, "I have not seen the CID report on Minister K.N. Rajanna's allegations of attempts to honeytrap him yet. The issue was highlighted by the media. The answer is given by the CID now. I don't know what's in the report." Meanwhile, the Leader of the Opposition and veteran BJP leader R. Ashoka said that Minister Rajanna had alleged inside the Assembly that there was a honeytrap attempt on him and his family, and he also claimed to have evidence to support it while demanding an investigation. "However, just like other investigations initiated since the Congress government came to power in the state, this case too has lost momentum," he added. "Minister Rajanna, if your allegation is true and you indeed possess strong evidence, then urge Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Parameshwara to hand over the case to the CBI for investigation. Otherwise, if your allegation is false, then you must apologise to the people of the state for making a false statement inside the temple of democracy -- the Assembly," LoP Ashoka said. When asked about the CID report stating that there is no evidence in Minister Rajanna's honeytrap allegation, Deputy CM Shivakumar said, "I have nothing to do with that. I don't know who filed the complaint or how the investigation was conducted. I'm hearing about it now from the media. I know nothing about it."
