Euromillions £208m winner comes forward to claim jackpot

Daily Recorda day ago

The winner of this week's huge EuroMillions jackpot has come forward to claim the prize. It is the 18th Irish winner and the largest ever Irish win of the Euromillions jackpot
The winner of the colossal £208m (€250m) EuroMillions jackpot has stepped forward to claim their staggering prize. The winning ticket was bought in a shop in Co Cork, Ireland, and following an appeal for the ticketholder to come forward, one individual has now claimed the life-altering sum.
This marks the 18th Irish win and the biggest ever Irish victory in the EuroMillions jackpot history. The previous Irish EuroMillions jackpot win occurred in February 2022, when a lucky player scooped up €30.9 million with a quick pick ticket from a service station in Ballina, Co Tipperary.

Tuesday's draw saw the numbers 13, 22, 23, 44 and 49 emerge victorious, along with lucky stars 3 and 5. Cian Murphy, the chief executive of the Irish National Lottery, had earlier advised the winner to "stay calm" as the "massive" win might be overwhelming.

The EuroMillions jackpot is capped at €250 million - equivalent to £208 million. This particular jackpot hit its cap on Friday June 6 after multiple rollovers.
The EuroMillions prize fund is limited to €250m (or £208m), giving players five draws to win the life-changing amount, reports the Mirror.
Despite the single fortunate winner, other players are being reminded to check their tickets for potential smaller wins. The new multimillionaire now finds themselves wealthier than footballer Harry Kane and pop sensation Dua Lipa, who have net worths of £115 million and £110 million respectively, and could rub shoulders with individuals featured in The Sunday Times Rich List 2025.
"The EuroMillions jackpot of 250 million euro has been won in Ireland," announced the Irish operator on X on draw night. More than 92,000 players across Ireland scooped prizes in both EuroMillions and Plus games during this recent draw.
The €250 million (£208 million) jackpot has made one Munster resident's dreams a reality. Speaking to RTE Radio, National Lottery spokesperson Emma Moaghan revealed: "Someone in Ireland is a quarter of a billion euro richer this morning."

Whether the new multimillionaire will remain under wraps or step into the spotlight is yet to be determined.
Moaghan confirmed that the "eye-watering" prize-winning ticket was procured from a shop rather than through an online purchase or a mobile application. She advised: "If at all possible stay calm, I know that might be easier said than done. Have a cup of tea and let it sink in."
This monumental win equals the record set by an Austrian player back in March who bagged the first-ever €250 million EuroMillions jackpot. Since jackpots are currently capped at this figure, the record is expected to stand for the foreseeable future.

Munster lottery participants are urged to double-check their tickets. Cian Murphy, CEO of the Irish National Lottery, expressed excitement about the historic win: "We are absolutely thrilled to see this incredible and record win for an Irish EuroMillions player."
Lottery players are being urged to double-check their tickets and if they've hit the jackpot, to sign the back of their ticket, keep it secure, and get in touch with National Lottery HQ for further assistance. "We are advising our players to check their tickets and if they are the winner, sign the back of the ticket, keep it safe, and contact National Lottery HQ and we will guide you through the claims process," officials noted.
The UK's Millionaire Maker Selection victor for Tuesday night's draw was confirmed as XPCD66044. Marking a record for a British ticket holder, one lucky individual scooped an astounding £195.7 million on July 19 2022, remaining anonymous.

In light of the enormous €250 million jackpot prize, accredited financial planner Eoin McGee has cautioned the winning ticket holder to proceed with caution regarding their windfall.
McGee offered his guidance to the Irish Mirror: "My advice is do absolutely nothing, except sign the back of the ticket. Ring the Lotto and confirm you have the winning ticket, but then sit back and tell nobody apart from your inner circle.
"Don't make any big decisions now. This is life-changing. I tell Lotto winners to remember that the things which made you happy before this win are the same things that are going to make you happy afterwards.
"Life will be different, but if you do not manage this properly, it can ruin you. This €250m can ruin you. Be careful about your decisions and any promises you're making.
"Even be careful about telling your children how much they're going to get. Make no promises. It is a time of celebration and joy and being happy about it, but in the first six months, do not spend more than €10,000 on any one item."

Set for life draw results: Full list of the winning numbers

One ticket holder has struck it lucky after winning the Set for Life £10,000 a month for a year prize. The lottery draw was held last night and the winning numbers were 8, 10, 12, 28 and 45. The life ball number was 9. No one got all five numbers and the life ball, which would have seen them win £10,000 a year for 30 years. However, one holder matched five numbers, which means they win £10,000 a month for a year. It's not clear if the prize has been claimed. Set For Life is an annuity lottery, which means that its biggest prizes are paid out in regular instalments over an extended period of time, rather than in one lump sum. If you win the top prize you will receive regular payments into your bank account of £10,000 a month for the next 30 years. The second prize pays out £10,000 a month for 12 months. There is a prize fund cap of £16 million, which would require five players to match all the numbers. If this ever happens, each winner will be given the choice as to whether to receive their share of the £16 million as an annuity or a lump sum. If you enter as a syndicate, the National Lottery will only pay out the prize to a single claimant, so the syndicate would need to decide who is responsible for claiming the prize and how the annuity payments will be shared with other members of the syndicate. From time to time, the National Lottery holds Set For Life Super Chance draws. In these draws, you only have to match five main numbers to win the top prize of £10,000 for 30 years. This week mum-of-four Olivia Love, 36, shared what she does day-to-day after winning £10,000 a month for a year. The 36-year-old scooped her Set for Life prize in May and has since quit her supermarket job. More Trending Yesterday it was revealed the lucky EuroMillions winner who scooped £208,000,000 on Tuesday bought their ticket in County Cork. The prize – the largest in EuroMillions history – remained unclaimed for a couple of days but the winner has now made contact with the National Lottery, it was confirmed. The jackpot had been sat at £208million for two weeks after it reached its maximum size earlier this month. This will be Ireland's 18th winner of the EuroMillions jackpot. Rat the size of a cat gnaws on couple's clothes as they sleep in luxury hotel

Dr Kiran Morjaria was on holiday in Sri Lanka with his girlfriend when she woke him in the middle of the night A British doctor holidaying in Sri Lanka was left aghast when his girlfriend roused him in the dead of night, convinced that an intruder was in their room. Upon illuminating their surroundings, the reality was revolting – a rat as large as a small cat had invaded their upscale hotel room. Kiran Morjaria, a doctor and YouTuber, recounted the petrifying incident to his 32,000 TikTok followers, a tale sure to make anyone consider sleeping with the lights on during their next holiday. Kiran's partner, who is petrified of insects, alerted him in the night, but he initially dismissed her fears, assuring her she was just imagining things. ‌ Yet, what they discovered later was far more alarming than any insect. ‌ He said: "When I was in Sri Lanka last year my girlfriend is terrified of insects and that sort of thing. She got me up and said 'I can hear something' in the middle of the night. I said 'You are just imagining it - there is nothing here.'". But mere minutes later, his girlfriend's insistence led to a startling discovery. Kiran added: "About ten minutes later she gets me up again and says 'I can definitely hear something in the room so I get up and turn the light on.'", reports the Mirror. That's when Kiran came face-to-face with the colossal rodent that had been lurking in their suite. He exclaimed: "And there I see the biggest rat I have ever seen in my life. I'm talking literally the size of a small cat." What Kiran encountered at his accommodation was even more alarming as he revealed the mammoth rat was "nibbling on our clothes inside the room." Kiran then urged his followers to impart their own nightmare experiences in the comments, which yielded some grisly tales. ‌ One recounted a mortifying situation involving her child's nappy fiasco at a swimming pool. She said: "We had the entire swimming pool closed off as our new-born baby pooped in his swim nappy and its was explosive upset tummy we was very embarrassed." Euan's anecdote also featured an explosive element of a different nature. He narrated: "At Nantes airport my T-shirt got swabbed for explosives multiple times and came back and cause I was playing with cap guns the day before." Katy, on the other hand, experienced a harrowing near-miss straight after leaving JFK airport. She recounted: "Leaving JFK airport for Manhattan, Taxi speeding, 60mph head on collision, Police said we're lucky not going home in a body bag, taken to Queens Hosp!". In light of Kiran's initial story, another commenter voiced their opinion, surmising they would have found it difficult to fall asleep again. They remarked: "Arrrrrhhh (not even scared of rats normally but I'd have screamed and not slept."

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Holly Willoughby has wowed her followers with a daring new style, and they are absolutely loving it. The ex-This Morning presenter, aged 44, took to Instagram this Thursday to show off her chic transformation, featuring tousled waves and some strikingly bold spectacles. The mother of three shared a selfie from the car, making light of her new role as 'personal party driver' for her kids. Holly's caption read: "Any other mums/dads of 16 year old, post GCSE children suddenly find themselves with a new role of personal party driver? Mums 'Mini' Cabs ... and yes... I'm now a Glasses wearer... game changer." Holly, alongside her husband Dan Baldwin, is a doting parent to their three children: 16 year old Harry, Belle who is 12, and Chester, aged nine. With Harry having just finished his GCSEs, it appears Holly has been drafted into driving duties for his post-exam celebrations. Following the reveal of her updated image, Holly's fans swarmed the comments section to praise her natural wavy locks, with one fan writing: "Gorgeous. You look so pretty and the glasses really suit you." Another fan added their voice, saying: "Wow! ! ! Holly you have never looked better," reports the Mirror. This flurry of admiration comes amidst reports that Holly's future career moves are uncertain, as she currently doesn't have any new television projects lined up. Despite being a familiar face on our screens for many years, fans may have to wait a while before seeing what's next for the star. The television favourite finds herself at a crossroads, facing the first time in 21 years without a programme in the pipeline. This follows the cancellation of her regular presenting role on Dancing On Ice, bringing the show to an end. Holly's other venture, Bear Hunt with Bear Grylls, has also been dropped from the schedule. Additionally, she has decided to step away from You Bet! leaving Stephen Mulhern to present solo. However, there's potential on the horizon as Holly's husband Dan Baldwin is reportedly developing a revival of Record Breakers, which could see Holly back in the presenting spotlight. The Sun cites an insider claiming it would be "perfect sense" for Holly to helm the show. The source commented: "Record Breakers is likely to be a prime time hit and it would make perfect sense for Holly to take the reins. She has worked alongside Dan before and the pair know what it takes to make great telly." Holly's name is also among those being considered for hosting duties on a reboot of Cilla Black's Blind Date, with Claudia Winkleman and Davina McCall also in the running. Another potential project for Holly is a new Channel 4 show aimed at discovering fresh singing talent. Holly made her TV comeback last year after an 18-month hiatus. (Image: Instagram/ @hollywilloughby) Reports also suggest that ITV is eager to retain Holly's talents, following recent discussions with Katie Rawcliffe, director of entertainment and daytime, regarding future projects. An insider has disclosed: "Holly always intended to lock in new presenting roles for ITV, which has been her home for so long. She didn't have anything confirmed earlier this year just due to the way the cards had fallen, but there are a string of exciting projects on the table and 2025 is looking good for Holly." They continued, highlighting her career ambitions: "Holly is looking to the future and this week's meeting was a big part of that. It won't be a return to daytime programming but new entertainment formats." The strategic meeting happened alongside the broadcast of a documentary that delves into a harrowing episode from her past. The documentary in question, Channel 5's The Plot To Kill Holly Willoughby, showcased the chilling plans of an obsessed security guard named Gavin Plumb who intended to kidnap, assault, and kill Holly. Deciding not to be involved in the documentary, Holly made the choice subsequent to her traumatic ordeal to step back from her role on ITV1's This Morning and momentarily retire from her television commitments.
