NVIDIA's stock stumble on Wall Street shows that investors need to broaden AI investments

Nigel Green, CEO of deVere Group, has said that the sudden decline in NVIDIA's stock shows that Wall Street has an over reliance on the company, and a small group of other leading players in the AI marketplace. There is no denying the fact that NVIDIA is the jewel in the AI crown, but when its stock fell it send the Nasdaq down by 1.4% in what was one of its sharpest drops since April. NVIDIA became the first company to surpass $4 trillion in market capitalisation, and it's growth over the last number of years has been at a supersonic level. However, Green, who is the CEO of global financial advisory behemoth deVere Group has said the recent nosedive of NVIDIA's stock serves as a warning to investors who are guilty of over-investing into the same small group of companies that are powering the AI revolution, and believes they have to broaden their investment portfolios when it comes to AI. 'Nvidia is at the heart of one of the most profound technological shifts in decades. Belief in its long-term importance is justified. But when one company falters and it reverberates through every corner of the market, it shows how dangerously narrow this rally has become.' The Nasdaq 100 is now trading at 27 times expected earnings, underscoring valuations stretched to levels not seen since the dot-com boom. Wall Street's reliance on the Magnificent Seven has powered the rally, but it has also concentrated risk to a degree rarely witnessed in modern markets. 'The AI revolution is not confined to one stock or even a small group of them. Investors need to broaden their perspective and capture the wider AI ecosystem. This means looking at companies building data infrastructure, cybersecurity frameworks, cloud capacity, and industries embedding AI into healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. The future of AI is multi-dimensional, and portfolios need to reflect that reality.' The timing of Nvidia's slide coincides with heightened focus on monetary policy. Traders are betting on a September rate cut and at least one more before year-end, while Fed Chair Jerome Powell prepares to speak at Jackson Hole. Yet inflation remains unpredictable, labour market data has softened, and tariff-led costs continue to add pressure. 'Markets are behaving as though rate cuts are guaranteed and smooth. If Powell pushes back, or if inflation spikes again, investors who are narrowly positioned will find themselves doubly exposed. Concentration risk layered on top of policy mispricing is a dangerous cocktail.' Beyond the Fed, geopolitical uncertainty is shaping market mood. President Donald Trump has intensified calls for a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, raising hopes for dialogue but leaving critical issues unresolved. These crosscurrents have the potential to unsettle commodities, currencies, and equities alike. 'The reality is that global markets are moving too fast and are too interconnected to rely on one theme or one region. AI remains the growth engine of this era, but investors must approach it with nuance. Diversification across geographies, sectors, and asset classes is the only effective way to participate in the upside without being blindsided by sudden shocks. Green did stress that volatility is not a strong enough reason to walk away from AI, but did urge investors to engage with it more intelligently. 'Those who expand their positioning into the broader ecosystem, while ensuring they are not overexposed to a handful of megacaps, will be far better placed to capture the long-term rewards. AI will continue to drive productivity, innovation, and wealth creation across the global economy. But the winners will not be limited to a small cluster of companies. This is the moment for investors to widen the lens, strengthen diversification, and prepare for the next wave of growth.'

Saudi Arabia approves Dubai-based private jet operator VistaJet for domestic flights

Saudi Arabia's civil aviation regulator has authorised Dubai-based VistaJet to offer domestic services in the kingdom, making it the first international private jet operator to enter the local market. The move reflects Saudi Arabia's push to attract investments and contribute to the sector's development, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (Gaca) said in a statement on Wednesday. 'This step will foster greater competition, stimulate sector growth, and raise the quality of services for private aviation customers in the kingdom and across the region,' Awad Alsulami, executive vice president for economic policies and logistics services at Gaca, said. VistaJet, part of Vista Global Holding, an international private aviation group, is headquartered at the DIFC and founded by Swiss billionaire Thomas Flohr. VistaJet's entry into the Saudi Arabian market comes after the country lifted cabotage restrictions for on-demand charter companies, which came into effect on May 1. Cabotage refers to the right to operate a domestic flight carrying passengers or cargo between two airports within the borders of one country, by an aircraft registered outside of that country. Approving VistaJet's entry into the market is part of the kingdom's efforts to build its general aviation industry. In May last year, Gaca said it aimed to increase the sector's contribution to gross domestic product to 7.8 billion Saudi riyals ($2.08 billion) and create 35,000 jobs by 2030. VistaJet has served the Saudi market for more than 15 years, offering international travel routes. It recorded a 32 per cent year-on-year increase during the first half of 2025 in VistaJet programme members in the kingdom, the company said in a statement on Wednesday. The programme membership offers customers a subscription of flight hours on its fleet of mid-and-long-range jets, to fly them anytime and to any destination. 'Given the nature of Vista's fully-owned floating fleet, the company is best positioned to offer immediate private aviation services throughout the kingdom, while ensuring the operational efficiencies of its worldwide operations continue to best serve local clients,' it said. 'With the largest international fleet of Global 7500 aircraft, and soon Global 8000 jets, VistaJet clients can additionally reach any point around the globe non-stop directly from the kingdom, thanks to its strategic central geographical position.' Strong demand As part of its Vision 2030 plan to wean the economy from its dependence on oil, Saudi Arabia is seeking to develop its aviation sector to become a global hub for travel, trade and cargo, while modernising the sector through regulation, infrastructure and foreign investment. Saudi Arabia is anticipating strong demand from foreign investors after it announced plans to develop its private jet industry to attract affluent tourists, corporate travellers, high-ranking government officials and business jet operators and owners to the kingdom, a Gaca official told The National last year. The aviation regulator is in talks with international companies across the supply chain, from business jet makers and fixed-base operators to maintenance and catering service providers, Imtiyaz Manzary, general manager for general aviation at Gaca, said in an interview in May 2024.

India and China agree to restore flights and trade flow after minsiter Wang's visit

India and China – the two biggest countries in the world that comprise nearly 35 per cent of the planet's population – have agreed to resume direct flights and step up trade and investment flows as they look to rebuild the ties damaged by a border clash in 2020. The border talks covered issues related to pulling back troops both countries have amassed on their border and delimitation of borders and boundary affairs. There was no major breakthrough on those issues, but Beijing said both countries agreed to meet again in China in 2026. However, the two countries have agreed to resume direct flights – without setting up an exact date at the moment – and boost trade and investment, along with smooth facilitation of visas. Direct flights have been suspended since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. At the meeting of the Special Representatives between visiting Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi and National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval, the two sides agreed to create an expert group under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) on border affairs to explore 'early harvest in boundary delimitation', and to set up another working group under the WMCC to 'advance effective border management' and maintain peace and tranquillity. The statement was issued after minister Wang's two-day visit to New Delhi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, posted on X about making steady progress after meeting Wang: 'Glad to meet Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Since my meeting with President Xi in Kazan last year, India-China relations have made steady progress guided by respect for each other's interests and sensitivities. I look forward to our next meeting in Tianjin on the sidelines of the SCO Summit. Stable, predictable, constructive ties between India and China will contribute significantly to regional as well as global peace and prosperity.' Glad to meet Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Since my meeting with President Xi in Kazan last year, India-China relations have made steady progress guided by respect for each other's interests and sensitivities. I look forward to our next meeting in Tianjin on the sidelines of the SCO… — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) August 19, 2025 Modi's scheduled visit to China at the end of August to take part in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation will be his first to the country in more than seven years. A readout from the Chinese foreign ministry said Wang told Doval that 'the stable and healthy development of China-India relations is in the fundamental interests of the two countries' people. The two sides should enhance mutual trust through dialogues and expand cooperation'.
