R&B stars Brandy and Monica have been linked together since 1998, when they dropped their classic Grammy award-winning hit, 'The Boy Is Mine.' They entertained us all during the COVID-19 pandemic in their head-to-head Verzuz battle — and now they are gearing up for their first joint tour.
In an exclusive interview with CBS Mornings on Tuesday, June 24, Brandy and Monica shared that when they decided to give fans the joint tour they have been consistently asking for, they had to sit down and discuss their relationship, which has been filled with reports of feuds and tensions for decades.
'They've been trying to get us to do a tour since '98. It just finally felt like the right time,' Brandy said. Monica then chimed in and added that the decision to tour together 'created the communication and the relationship to do it.'
'It's a musical marriage. When you start to go on a tour, especially of this caliber, we have to talk about everything,' she continued.
When asked directly by Gayle King if there was ever an actual feud between them earlier in their careers, the two stars got candid.
'It started as nothing and it really did turn into something,' Monica confirmed. 'The reason I was so insistent that we communicate directly is that you take all of the peanut gallery out of the conversation.'
'If there's something to discuss, we discuss it among each other… and that just eliminates any confusion,' she said. 'There was a lot of confusion and conflict and there was a lot of people around during those early days.'
Brandy added, 'The song didn't help either. We were fighting over a boy.'
Monica noted how their ages at the time of their duet also played into the messiness and outside forces pitting them against each other.
'I was 18, she was 17 when we did the record,' she said. 'People forget that you're having this conversation about children, basically. You're inciting a riot amongst children! We were teenagers… We didn't really know each other.'
The Boy Is Mine 24-city arena tour officially kicks off on Oct. 16 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and ends on Dec. 7 in Houston, Texas. Tickets for the tour go on sale on Friday, June 27 at 10 a.m. EST via Ticketmaster.
Joining Brandy and Monica on tour will be Kelly Rowland, Muni Long and American Idol winner Jamal Roberts.

Cardi B makes Stefon Diggs romance Instagram-official with raunchy twerking video as nasty divorce from Offset rolls on

Okurrr. Cardi B made her relationship with NFL star Stefon Diggs Instagram-official days after slamming her ex Offset as a deadbeat dad. The 'Up' rapper featured the New England Patriots wide receiver in a carousel posted to Instagram Sunday. One photo showed the couple cuddled up while lounging on the deck of a yacht during their Memorial Day celebration in Miami last weekend. Cardi also included a raunchy video that showed her twerking on Diggs in a black thong swimsuit. The football player rubbed and smacked her behind in the racy footage. The Grammy winner shared additional slides featuring bouquets of red roses and giant teddy bears seemingly gifted from the pro athlete. 'Chapter 5 ……Hello Chapter six,' she wrote in the caption. Cardi, 32, and Diggs, 31, appear to be on good terms after the NFL star came under fire for his interaction with a group of bikini-clad women during the recent yacht party. Last Thursday, a source told the Daily Mail that the 'Bodak Yellow' hitmaker was 'mad' at her beau for 'flirting with the ladies.' 'Girls will throw themselves on him all the time, but she wishes he wouldn't be a scumbag and flirt back,' the insider claimed. The pair sparked dating rumors in February when they were seen partying in New York City. They later spent Valentine's Day together. The two made their first public appearance earlier this month, sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden for an NBA playoff game between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks. Meanwhile, the 'WAP' emcee is currently in the middle of a contentious divorce from her estranged husband, Offset. The exes share three kids: Kulture, 6, Wave, 3, and Blossom, 8 months. Cardi claimed on Friday that the Migos alum has only seen their youngest child a handful of times since Blossom's birth in September 2024. '[Offset] has seen Blossom only like five times,' Cardi claimed during a space conversation on X. 'I said you can see my kids in my house,' she added. 'I want my daughter to feel the love of her dad. He hasn't seen his kids since March.'

Cardi B reveals staggering six-figure amount she spends on 3 kids' lifestyles while blasting Offset as a deadbeat dad

All she really wanna see is the money. Cardi B revealed the staggering six-figure amount she pays annually for their three kids' lifestyles as she blasted Offset for allegedly being a deadbeat father. 'A whole year straight, you have left me with the kids' bills. Y'all want to know what's the kids' bills? Start adding,' the 'Bodak Yellow' rapper, who shares children Kulture, 6, Wave, 3, and Blossom, 8 months, with the former Migos rapper, began on X Spaces Friday. 'My kids got their own driver. They pick them up from school, they drop them off and they take them to gymnastics and … boxing classes. The kids' driver is on a retainer for $10,000 a month,' Cardi, born Belcalis Almánzar, shared. 'Kulture's school this year — you didn't pay for it — that's $45,000. Wave's school a year is $35,000, which you didn't help me pay for it this year at all.' The Grammy winner, 32, then said that her cousin babysits her kids for $3,000 a week and Blossom's nanny runs her $500 per day. 'Kulture and Wave get tutoring four times a week … each hour is $250 … count that up,' she added. 'Kulture's piano class — that's $300 an hour and she gets piano classes three times a week. I'm not sure how much is gymnastics and Wave's boxing classes, but I pay that, too,' Cardi explained, adding that Offset, whose real name is Kiari Cephus, has allegedly left her with that bill 'for a whole year' amid their contentious divorce. 'Kiari, have I asked you for anything? You want spousal support so bad. And mind you, this is not even including food — my kids have a personal chef that comes from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. that I pay for because people in my house don't have time to cook,' she said. Additionally, Cardi said she covers the costs for a full-time security staff to protect her children. 'Our daughter [Kulture] constantly used to get threats, rape threats, death threats, so I have a security 24 hours in front of my house, which I pay as well. And you don't help with none of it,' she claimed. Page Six has reached out to Offset's rep for comment but did not immediately hear back. Elsewhere in Cardi's lengthy rant, she accused Offset, 33, of being an absentee father for their kids. '[Offset] has seen Blossom only like five times,' she claimed of their infant daughter, who was born in September 2024. 'I been trying to save your face … I said you can see my kids in my house. I want my daughter to feel the love of her dad. He hasn't seen his kids since March.' Last summer, Page Six exclusively revealed that Cardi filed for divorce from the dad of six for a second time after nearly seven years of marriage. Last week, TMZ reported that the 'Bad and Boujee' emcee requested spousal support from his estranged wife, who is now dating NFL star Stefon Diggs, and joint custody of their kids.

Charles requests Sugababes for King's Trust Awards red carpet

The King has requested the Sugababes be played on the red carpet at his King's Trust Awards ceremony as he celebrated the winners with a host of stars. Hollywood celebrity George Clooney and wife lawyer Amal Clooney were joined by fellow trust supporters, actors Dame Joanna Lumley, Joseph Fiennes and TV presenter Dec Donnelly, one half of Ant and Dec, at a Buckingham Palace reception honouring recipients. Fiennes dubbed the King the 'patron saint of second chances' for the work of his trust supporting young people over almost five decades, ahead of the awards ceremony being staged on Thursday. Ant and Dec, the trust's goodwill ambassadors, will be hosting the awards ceremony for the 13th time and Donnelly joked how the King had offered to write some jokes for the pair 'he's going to do some script writing for us, it's always gratefully received'. After chatting to the girl group Sugababes, Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, Siobhan Donaghy, who will open and close the ceremony at London's Royal Festival Hall, Charles spoke to Radio 1 DJ Melvin Odoom. The broadcaster, who will be playing a DJ set for those arriving on the red carpet, asked the King 'Any tunes you want, let me know', and said later 'he asked for the Sugababes CD to be played.' He joked: 'I didn't want to say to him we don't use CDs anymore, I'm using USB, but I'll drop the Sugababes.' The girl group has just finished a tour and Buchanan said: 'That's very, very cool to know the King has requested us. 'We said to the King we've been around for 25 years and he was like wow, he was a bit taken a back. 'He said he wanted a CD and we think we'll introduce him to Overload first, he was really lovely.' George Clooney joined his wife who was supporting Alice, 19, winner of the Amal Clooney Women's Empowerment Award after setting up a business teaching other women the traditional Kenyan craft of bead work. She said Amal had been acting as a mentor and described the couple as 'very intelligent people' and said 'all the world is shining', after being told she had won the award after taking part in a programme run by the King's Trust International. The trust will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026 and was started by Charles, when he was prince of Wales, following his concern too many young people were being excluded from society through a lack of opportunity. In 1976, when he left the Royal Navy, he used the £7,400 he received in severance pay to fund a number of community schemes. These early initiatives were the founding projects of his charity. Fiennes said after talking to the King: 'In the 25 years that I've been doing this we've just seen a collection of young potential that has been picked up and disenfranchised and not given the right opportunities, so I said to His Majesty, maybe it was inappropriate, but 'you are the patron saint of second chances'. 'And giving young potential second chances is just vital, cost of living, mental crises after Covid, this deep rupture in our psyche, especially for the youth, has been massive, so for the trust to be running and doing what it's doing is so extraordinary.'
