In GTA 6 civilians could call 911 and that might change how you play
While Rockstar prepares for Grand Theft Auto 6, fan conjecture is already heating up over what could be the series' most immersive environment to date. Among the rumored features teased by trailers and leaks, one subtle yet potentially game-changing idea comes into focus: civilians dialing 911.
If it happens, it would revolutionize how mayhem, repercussions, and player liberty unfold in Vice City.
Civilians reporting crimes could remake GTA's loop of gameplay
F
or years, the GTA formula has depended on a familiar cycle: commit a crime, see your Wanted Level increase, and flee or fight. But in previous games, the police would normally respond to pre-determined stimuli instead of being tipped off by the world that surrounds you. That might finally not be the case in GTA 6.
The theory that NPCs could call 911 stems from Rockstar's focus on realism, evidenced in GTA 6 trailers and Red Dead Redemption 2's deep NPC systems. If pedestrians can report crimes in real time, it would mean that even smaller acts, like stealing a car or punching someone, might escalate into full-blown chases simply because someone nearby saw and reported it. This would get Vice City to feel that much more alive and responsive, compelling players to deliberate before wreaking havoc.

Smarter AI, richer consequences, and a more engaging Vice City
Aside from reporting the cops, civilian AI in GTA 6 might progress in a few directions. Trailers indicate various character animations and actions, which implies Rockstar went all out on dynamic NPCs. That might equate to pedestrians not simply running away in terror but responding uniquely, some hiding, others filming crimes on their phones, and a few even taking matters into their own hands.
If Rockstar executes these mechanics successfully, the game's AI might keep pace with or even surpass current games like Watch Dogs or Cyberpunk 2077.
The result of player action would not only arise from scripted police reaction but from a living city that observes, recollects, and responds, allowing for a feedback loop where every choice feels all the more significant.
Though Rockstar has not yet officially announced these features, the prospect of civilians dialing 911 suggests an intelligent, more sensitive world in GTA 6. If Vice City really makes players answerable in real time, playing and surviving in Grand Theft Auto will never be the same.

NFL faces ‘Chiefs privilege' backlash over Rashee Rice delay
(Image via Getty) The NFL says it plays by the book when it comes to disciplining players, but the Rashee Rice situation is starting to look like a plot twist from a sports soap opera. While other players get their suspensions handed down before the season even kicks off, Rice, fresh off pleading guilty to two felonies in a street-racing crash, gets to keep suiting up for the Kansas City Chiefs through a juicy stretch of high-profile games. The official hearing? Not until September 30. And if you think that timing's just a coincidence, you're not alone. NFL delays disciplinary hearing for Rashee Rice until after big games — AdamSchefter (@AdamSchefter) On July 17, Rice pleaded guilty to two felonies from a dangerous March 2024 street-racing crash that left multiple people injured. His punishment was 30 days in jail (which can be served anytime in the next five years) plus five years of probation. Normally, the NFL wastes no time deciding a suspension once the legal side wraps. This time, however, the league scheduled his disciplinary hearing for September 30, which means he's clear to play at least the first four games of the season, maybe even five if appeals drag it out. League's timing raises eyebrows over potential favoritism It's not just the delay that's weird, it's what that delay allows. The Chiefs' early schedule is stacked with prime-time and nationally televised games: Week 1 against the Chargers in Brazil (YouTube), Week 2 vs. the Eagles on Fox, Week 3 on Sunday Night Football vs. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These Are The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo the Giants, Week 4 against the Ravens on CBS, and possibly a Week 5 Monday Night Football matchup at Jacksonville. Compare that with Vikings WR Jordan Addison, who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI on the exact same day as Rice and still got slapped with a three-game suspension before Week 1. That's a sharp contrast fans can't ignore. Why the delay? NFL's official reasoning vs. public perception The league's usual explanation is that they wait until all legal matters are closed before issuing punishment. But Rice's guilty plea technically checked that box in July. Critics argue the NFL could have suspended him before the season or at least put him on paid leave, crediting those missed games toward his suspension, an option they've used before, especially in domestic violence cases. Instead, the hearing date buys Rice playing time during the Chiefs' most marketable games, whether intentional or not. Social media has been buzzing with accusations of 'Chiefs privilege' and claims that the NFL is bending over backwards to keep one of Patrick Mahomes ' top targets on the field for TV ratings. For a league already battling skepticism about its disciplinary consistency, this isn't a great look. Even if the NFL didn't intend to favor the Chiefs, the look of it is undeniably bad. Letting Rice's case linger until after a blockbuster stretch of games undermines the league's own claim to consistency.
