Rod Stewart enjoys 'wonderful' romantic break with Penny amid health setback
Music legend Sir Rod Stewart, 80, made time for some rest and recuperation amid his mega world tour as he enjoyed a romantic getaway with his wife Penny Lancaster
Sir Rod Stewart has made sure to get some downtime amid his mammoth world tour, which has left him battling an unfortunate health issue. The music icon, 80, is in the midst of his epic One Last Time Tour that concludes in December and brings the end of an era for the star.
Over the weekend, he thrilled fans in Milan, Italy, where he performed as part of the string of concert dates. Sir Rod was joined by members of his family including devoted wife Lady Penny Lancaster, 54, and their son Alastair, 19.
However, with dates still to come in North America, South America, Europe and the United Arab Emirates, it seemed Sir Rod needed a break from the pressures of tour life. He managed to steal away for some time with Penny and head on a romantic break.
The loved-up couple took a trip to the hotel Villa d'Este in the stunning Lake Como, where they kicked back on boat trips and tucked into lavish meals.
Penny gave fans a glimpse into the break as she shared a sweet snap of her and Rod on a boat. She put her arm around her musician husband as she looked chic in a tiger print blouse with black tailored trousers.
The Loose Women star kept her long blonde locks in loose waves and snuggled into Sir Rod by placing her legs over his knee. In another snap, the couple shared an embrace while Penny held onto a flower.
Sir Rod rocked a white blazer with matching shirt and a black tie and trousers. The pair beamed at the camera, as Penny gushed: "One of the most wonderful, romantic, long weekend get aways.
"So appreciative the opportunities we get to spend quality time together in our busy lives. @sirrodstewart #tour."
Over the weekend, Sir Rod sparked concern for his health as he was left unable to speak. While in Lake Como, he walked around with a sign hanging around his neck saying that he was without a voice.
The simple message stated: "Sorry. Cannot talk. Having vocal rest." Despite the setback, Sir Rod looked happy as he wandered around with wife Penny chatting at his side.
While teenage son Alastair towered above his parents as he joined them in the Italian sunshine. Music fans have a last chance to see Sir Rod on the road as part of a huge world tour as he has signalled his One Last Time Tour will be the last of it's kind.
In November last year he made it clear he wanted to scale back his performing - while also reiterating that he is not planning to retire. He said: '[This is] the end of large-scale world tours for me... [But I have] no desire to retire."
Fans in the UK will see the Hot Legs singer take to the stage at Glastonbury. Sir Rod is set to hit the Pyramid Stage for the Sunday legend slot over the festival weekend at the end of June.

The Loose Women favourite lifts the lid on her relationship with her husband and reveals why the happy couple needed therapy Katie Piper has opened up about going through couples therapy to make her marriage stronger. The campaigner and presenter, who has been with husband Richard Sutton since 2013, said the pair continue to work on their relationship more than a decade later. Describing it as a 'relationship MOT', Katie, 41, says it's been key to keeping their marriage on track. 'I've had therapy in lots of ways that people wouldn't [expect],' she explained. 'Therapy for the burn injury stopped years ago. I've had therapy since for normal things in life that people go through that aren't visible. I've been to couples therapy with Rich. It's like a relationship MOT and it helps because it validates what you're going through.' Loose Women star Katie says it's helped her feel 'seen and heard'. 'It's healthy for your marriage and friendships,' advocates the mum-of-two. 'Relationships go through different seasons. You see him as your boyfriend, then he's your husband, then you see him as a dad. It sounds a bit cliché and overused, but Rich has got a lot of kindness at his core.' The couple have daughters Belle, 11, and Penelope, seven, and Katie says she'd love to expand their family. After trying for a third baby but not being successful, Katie says they have been talking about fostering and adoption. 'I know the kids would love another child,' Katie admits. 'We tried naturally before I turned 40 but it wasn't meant to be. We talked about how far we would take it – IVF and fostering or adopting. I would lean more to fostering and adopting because I was like, 'I'm done with medical stuff.'' The household has grown recently - with the addition of a dog. 'The kids have always wanted a dog and [this year] we rehomed one from Battersea, through Alison Hammond on For the Love of Dogs,' Katie told woman&home magazine in a new intereview. 'It's like having a newborn but it's good for the kids. It has given them something to pour their responsibility into.' Katie survived a sulphuric acid attack by an ex-boyfriend when she was 24. She suffered severe scarring to her face, chest, neck, arm and hands, and has undergone more than 250 operations. She became a campaigner after the 2008 horror. She recently said she "never thought she'd make it to 40" after the devastating attack. Sharing her thoughts on the beauty pressures put on women, Katie says they should embrace ageing. 'Women, I think, often feel that they fade out of the male gaze, and I was removed in seconds at 24,' she said. 'Nobody experiences such rapid transition and that's why it [was] traumatic and unnatural. We live in a society that values beauty and youth, so it's [about] exploring where you sit with that, and how that affects how you operate and your identity. 'I don't want women to fear transition. I want them to be malleable, not rigid. I want them to know there is life after and not to feel controlled by their circumstances.... Now I've arrived in [my] 40s, I realise that this is the time of my life when I've truly been living.' The August issue of woman&home is on sale Thursday. Glastonbury's secret act 'confirmed' as fans spot huge clue just days before
Glastonbury Festival is set to make a triumphant return this year, with the likes of The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo headlining - but there's still a mystery act on the bill Has Glastonbury Festival 's secret act accidentally been revealed? Music fans certainly think so. An American rock legend arriving in London just days ahead of things kicking off at Worthy Farm has people convinced the singer's band is set to play the hush-hush set. The iconic music festival is returning on Wednesday, with British pop band The 1975, folk star Neil Young and his band the Chrome Hearts, and US pop singer Olivia Rodrigo topping the bill. Glastonbury is running from June 25 to June 29 this year with performances from the likes of US rapper Doechii, UK singer Raye and veteran rocker Sir Rod Stewart, who will be playing during the coveted legends slot. Also performing is Irish rap trio Kneecap, US star Gracie Abrams and alternative pop singer Charli XCX. The line-up features a number of acts listed as TBA, as well as a mysterious act called Patchwork, who will take to the Pyramid Stage on Saturday. Careful not to draw speculation as to who the act could be, organiser Emily Eavis recently said: "I've been working on Patchwork for a long time." She also admitted that planning for their appearance had taken about a year for "logistical" reasons. Fans are convinced Patchwork are in fact The Foo Fighters, thanks to Dave Grohl being spotted in London recently. The rocker, who last year announced he had become a father again after an extramarital affair, was seen backstage at the Yeah Yeah Yeahs gig at the Royal Albert Hall. Grohl, who posed for a photo with American singer Amanda Palmer at the gig, is no stranger to surprise Glastonbury sets. In 2023, his band performed at the Somerset festival under the alias The Churn Ups - their first major UK gig since the death of the band's drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022. And Glastonbury fans are convinced a similar thing will be happening again this year. "Dave Grohl is in London, likely will be at the festival," one Reddit user penned as the pictures of Grohl hit social media. "Has done bits with John Fogerty in the past and other acts. Surely will be popping up at places this year?" Another added: "100% he will be milling about – I'd say a couple of guest appearances are a safe bet. Maybe Alanis for a song or Neil Young for an encore." Glastonbury Festival has sold "a few thousand less tickets" this year in a bid to avoid overcrowding, organiser Emily Eavis said earlier this month. In an appearance on the Sidetracked podcast Eavis, 45, outlined the changes that have been made to this year's festival and said music area Shangri-La is "going full trees and green space" which is "completely the opposite to anything they've done in the past". She also revealed that the festival has managed to buy some land that sits "just on the outside of the site", which will be used for crew members. She added: "We've also sold a few thousand less tickets, so it will be interesting just to see how that affects the dynamics on site." The first group of tickets for the event sold out in 30 minutes last November, with the second lot selling out in fewer than 40. Eavis said times have changed, adding: "There were years where you just couldn't sell out, you just couldn't give them (the tickets) away." Also at the festival, presenters Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw will take to the BBC Introducing stage on June 26 for a live episode of Sidetracked.

Neil Young The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo, Charli XCX, Raye, Loyle Carner and Jorja Smith will all hit the screens, alongside some surprise 'secret' acts. The channel will also have special recap montages from previous festivals, including Beyonce and Coldplay. Now she is back for more adventuring. This time, teenage Dora, played by Samantha Lorraine, is embarking on a new journey deep in the jungle on a quest to find the mythical treasure of Sol Dorado. Along the way she will have to battle villains, with the help of her loyal cousin Diego, archaeologist Camila the Crusader and her trusty sidekick Boots the monkey. After making its premiere on kids' channel Nickelodeon UK on July 2, it will be available to stream – for kids and adults – on Paramout+. Wednesday returns to boarding school Nevermore only to discover there is a serial killer on the loose. Series two brings back fan favourites Morticia, Gomez and Pugsley, while fresh faces on the cast list include Steve Buscemi and Joanna Lumley.
