India's BrahMos missile is superior to China's air defences: Defence expert Sanjeev Srivastava
'US defence expert John Spencer stated that India's BrahMos supersonic missile is so advanced that even China's air defence systems have been unable to intercept it. He noted that this highlights India's significant military edge, particularly in its operations against Pakistan, where the failure of Pakistan's HQ-9B air defence system was exposed. Spencer added that India's successful retaliatory strikes using BrahMos missiles demonstrated their effectiveness, generating global interest in the weapon. The India-Russia collaboration on the BrahMos missile has proven to be a major success, with the system now being exported to other countries as well,' he said.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 and struck nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir in response to a ghastly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam last month in which 26 people were killed.
The BrahMos missile system has solidified India's position in defense diplomacy: Cruise Missile Triad that enables precision attacks against land and sea targets; Deterrent Capability, which strengthens India's defense posture with its supersonic speed and range and Indo-Russian Collaboration showcasing successful bilateral cooperation in defense technology.
BrahMos boasts impressive capabilities like, reaching supersonic speeds, cruising close to Mach 3; can be launched from land, air, ships, and submarines; initial range of 290 km, with versions being developed for up to 800 km and advanced guidance and stealth technology for precise targeting.
The BrahMos has undergone significant upgrades, versions with increased range, such as BrahMos-ER, have been tested; BrahMos-II, with speeds of Mach 7-8, is under development and BrahMos-NG, with reduced size and radar cross-section, is being developed for enhanced capabilities.
Meanwhile, on India's foreign policy and defence strategy, the Defence expert said that it is independent and not influenced by Western pressure, citing the government's firm stand during the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
'India's new government does not operate under the influence or pressure of Western nations. When the Russia-Ukraine war began, the United States and several other countries tried to persuade India to scale back its bilateral relations with Russia. However, India stood firm and maintained its independent stance. India's diplomatic engagements and defence strategies are guided by national interests and remain free from external influence,' he said. (ANI)

Navy chief Admiral Tripathi begins 4-day Japan visit tomorrow
New Delhi: Talks on maritime security, technological collaboration and strengthening naval synergy are expected to top the agenda as Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi begins a four-day official visit to Japan on Wednesday, an official said. Admiral Tripathi's visit from July 30 to August 2 is part of the ongoing efforts to consolidate bilateral defence relations between India and Japan, said a Defence Ministry statement. The visit is in line with the deepening 'Special Strategic and Global Partnership', with a focus on enhancing maritime cooperation. During the visit, the CNS is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with senior Japanese government officials, including Minister of Defence Nakatani Gen, Vice-Minister of Defence Masuda Kazuo, and a meeting with Admiral Saito Akira, Chief of Staff, Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF). The CNS will also visit JMSDF units and interact with the Commander-in-Chief, Self Defence Fleet, at Funakoshi JMSDF Base. Admiral Tripathi's engagements in Japan are poised to further deepen the bonds of friendship and defence cooperation, paving the way for enhanced mutual understanding in key areas of shared strategic and maritime interest. The visit reaffirms the time-tested India-Japan friendship anchored in mutual respect, maritime trust, and a shared vision for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific. Earlier this month, Japan Coast Guard (JCG) Ship Itsukushima, commanded by Captain Naoki Mizoguchi, arrived at Chennai Port on July 7 as part of its Global Ocean Voyage Training, reinforcing the strategic partnership between the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and JCG in the Indo-Pacific. The week-long port call included high-level bilateral meetings, joint professional and cultural exchanges, and a sea exercise aimed at boosting interoperability between the two forces. During the port call, crew members engaged in courtesy calls, reciprocal ship visits, joint training sessions, yoga, and sporting events, culminating in a joint sea exercise 'Jaa Mata' (see you later) on July 12. As a symbol of growing cooperation, four ICG officers sailed onboard Itsukushima to Singapore as Sea Riders, continuing the tradition of professional exchange. This engagement builds on the 2006 Memorandum of Cooperation between India and Japan, aligned with India's Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR) vision and the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI).

"No country in the world has stopped India from any action in its defence against terrorism. Only three countries spoke in favour of Pakistan at the UN. "India got support from the entire world, but it is unfortunate that the Congress did not support the valour of our soldiers. Congress leaders targeted me for political gains but their frivolous statements ended up discouraging our brave soldiers," he said.

Speaking in Lok Sabha during a discussion on the Operation Sindoor, Rahul Gandhi pointed out that Trump had made the claim 29 times and stressed that if he was lying, then PM Modi should say so in his address to the House. "US President Donald Trump has said 29 times he brought about India-Pak ceasefire; if he is lying, PM must say so in Lok Sabha," Rahul Gandhi said. "If PM Modi has half the courage of an Indira Gandhi, he must deny in Lok Sabha that Trump is a 'liar' and we did not lose any planes," Gandhi repeated. Referring to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's statements on the floor of the House, Gandhi alleged that the BJP-led Centre "lacked the political will" to fight Pakistan. "Yesterday I watched Rajnath Singh's speech. I listen quite carefully when people speak. He said that Operation Sindoor began at 1.05 in the morning. He said that Operation Sindoor lasted 22 minutes. Then he said the most shocking thing - at 1.35, we called Pakistan and told them that we have hit non-military targets and we do not want escalation. Maybe he does not understand what he revealed," he said.
