Contamination risk prompts recall of popular milk brand
A popular milk brand has been pulled from supermarket shelves in Western Australia due to contamination concerns that could pose serious health risks.
The a2 Milk Company has issued a recall for its two-litre a2 Light Milk variety after routine testing detected potential microbial contamination with listeria monocytogenes.
The bacteria can cause severe illness, particularly in vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, unborn babies, newborns, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
However, the notice also warns the general population can also become ill from consuming food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The affected milk has a use-by date of 06/06 #41.
'Consumers should not eat this product,' the recall notice stated.
'Consumers should return the product(s) to the place of purchase for a full refund. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.'
Customers are urged to check their fridges and dispose of the product or return it for a full refund.

Mat Ryan positive about chances of securing another club contract in Europe
Mat Ryan's club career is again in limbo, but the Socceroos captain isn't concerned, confident he will secure a contract in Europe next season. The 33-year-old goalkeeper's contract with French club Lens expires this month and he's 'waiting' for news about his future. Ryan only joined Lens in January from Roma, where he only made one competitive appearance in a tough six-month spell at the Italian club. The former Central Coast Mariners custodian has bounced around Europe in recent seasons, with Lens – where he made 14 appearances – having been his fifth club in four years. However, as he prepares for the Socceroos' FIFA World Cup qualifier in Perth on Thursday night against Japan, Ryan is 'feeling at ease' about his future. 'I'm just waiting,' he said. 'We're in that period now where the transfer window opened on the first of June, so I'm not too worried. 'I go out there and try my best, and everything sorts itself out at the end of the day. That's been the trend throughout my career, so I'm feeling quite at ease about that, and just focused on the job at hand with the Socceroos. 'I'm feeling good, and I'm feeling still quite young. I've just got to continue to do the job and prove that I'm a world-class goalkeeper through my performances, and the rest will take care of itself. 'I'm hungrier than I've ever been before. I want to live the best life possible, and I want to have the best career I can possibly have, and I dedicate my life to that.' Ryan was also positive about the Socceroos' chances of beating Japan for the first time in 11 matches, with Australia's most recent win over the Samurai Blue being a 2-1 victory in Melbourne in June 2009. Depending on the result of Saudi Arabia's away clash with Bahrain on Friday morning (AEST), a Socceroos win, or even draw., on Thursday night could be enough to secure 2026 World Cup qualification. Perhaps helping Australia's cause will be the decision of Japan – who have already qualified for the World Cup – to leave a host of its best players at home. 'Anything that they do doesn't impact my confidence,' Ryan said. 'I'm just focused on what we do here and focused on what we can control. 'You've got to go out there and believe that you can overcome whatever challenge is in front of you, and obviously there's a fine line without being arrogant and being complacent. 'In my eyes, we're the best in Asia. If you don't believe you're the best, then you're failing at the first hurdle.'

Failed senate candidate Raina Cruise has suspended sentence overturned for Adelaide CBD assault
An anti-vaccine protester who assaulted a pregnant police officer and two security guards in October 2021, has been taken into custody after her suspended sentence was overturned on appeal. Raina Cruise, 42, was jailed on Monday after the South Australia's Court of Appeal found there was good reason to set aside the three-year suspended sentence and good behaviour bond handed to her in December last year. Instead, it ordered her to serve an immediate term of imprisonment for three years, nine months and two weeks. She will be eligible to apply for parole in two years. Upon hearing the new sentence, Cruise asked to say goodbye to her family, but was told she could not leave the dock. "See ya darling, keep the plants watered and the dog. Love you," she said to her daughter. Cruise previously pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault and was found guilty of intentionally causing harm to Constable Anthea Beck. The court preciously heard Cruise became aggressive to security guards at a Rundle Street hotel as the two men she was with were ejected from the venue. Cruise and the two men left the venue and were stopped by Constable Beck and another officer who were investigating the assault of the security guards. "During this conversation, a sudden violent altercation ensued between you and Constable Beck, which ultimately led to you grabbing her and dragging her to the ground," Judge Joanne Deuter said. Constable Beck suffered multiple injuries during the altercation, including two patches of her hair being torn from her scalp. In a victim impact statement previously delivered to the court, Constable Beck revealed she had been pregnant at the time of the assault. "When you kicked me, you kicked my baby," she said. There were widespread demands for legislation changes following her initial sentence last year, with the government saying it would consider them. "I think many in the community will be very supportive of the decision to appeal the sentence that was handed down. That appeal will be heard early next year," Attorney-General Kyam Maher said. Outside court on Monday, defence lawyer Nick Vadasz, for Cruise, said his client was shocked by today's outcome.
