Ryan Coogler Teases "X-Files" Series Reboot

Yara Sameh
With 'Sinners' now in theaters, Ryan Coogler is turning his attention back to his 'X-Files' series reboot.
'I've been excited about that for a long time and I'm fired up to get back to it,' Coogler said during a recent interview with '
Last Podcast on the Left
,' confirming that that project is 'immediately next' on his slate. 'Some of those episodes, if we do our jobs right, will be really fucking scary.'
Coogler was first reported to be developing an 'X-Files' series back in 2023, when series creator and showrunner Chris Carter confirmed that the two have had conversations about remounting the supernatural detecivde drama, which starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, who were assigned to investigate reports of paranormal activity.
'The X-Files,' originally produced by 20th Century Fox Television, aired on Fox for nine seasons from 1993 to 2001, before being revived at the network for two more rounds in 2016 and 2018.
Coogler is developing the revival idea through his overall deal with Walt Disney Television.
Asked if he's touched base with Anderson, Coogler confirms the two have spoken. 'She's incredible and fingers crossed there,' he said, explaining that Anderson was finishing up work on 'Tron: Ares' the last time they talked. 'We're going to try to make something really great, bro, and make something for the real 'X-Files' fans and maybe find some new ones.'
Over the past dozen years, Coogler has proven to be a master of breathing new life into established IP. First, he rebooted the 'Rocky' franchise with 2015's 'Creed.' Then, he adapted Marvel's 'Black Panther' comics into one of the MCU's most critically-acclaimed franchises, with both the 2018 original and its 2022 sequel, 'Wakanda Forever,' earning multiple Academy Award nominations.
'Sinners' is Coogler's first wholly original premise. The R-rated vampire thriller has proven to be an early hit with critics and audiences, earning $4.7 million in previews on the way to a projected $40 million to $50 million opening weekend.

Riham Abdel Ghafour to Star in TV Series "Five Stars"

Yara Sameh Egyptian actress Riham Abdel Ghafour has signed on to star in the social thriller TV series "Khamas Nogoum" ("Five Stars"). It hails from director Tamer Ashry and is produced by Ahmed Fahmy. "Five Stars" consists of 15 episodes and is set to be screened during the Off Season. Principal photography is set to commence soon. Abdel Ghafour was recently seen starring opposite Mohamed Farrag Netflix's highly anticipated original series "Catalog". Directed by Waleed El Halfawy and penned by Ayman Wattar, "Catalog" is set in Cairo and follows Youssef (Mohamed Farrag), a father of two reeling from the sudden loss of his wife, Amina (Abdel Ghafour). However, Youssef finds a lifeline in the most unexpected place: a series of parenting videos his late wife recorded before her death. The cast also includes Samah Anwar, Tara Emad, Ali El Beialy, Retal Abd El Aziz, Donia Sami, Sedky Sakhr, Dina Samy, Khaled Kamal, Bayoumi Fouad, and more. "Catalog" combines emotional rawness with gentle humor, exploring not only the grief but also the process of rebuilding. The drama marks Abdel Ghafour and Farag's second collaboration after the series adaptation of 'Room 207'. Abdel Ghafour, born on September 6, 1978, is the daughter of the late veteran Egyptian actor Ashraf Abdel Ghafour. Throughout her journey, Riham has delivered some of the most remarkable performances in television and cinema, contributed to theater and short film projects, and left a lasting impact on the Egyptian and Arab artistic scene. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

"Superman" Flies to Digital ahead of "Peacemaker" Season 2

Yara Sameh James Gunn told ScreenRant that 'Superman' is arriving early on digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home and more so that viewers can watch the epic superhero movie ahead of 'Peacemaker' Season 2 launching August 21 on HBO Max. 'Superman' effectively launched Gunn's new DC Universe. 'Peacemaker' is the next title in the universe, with Gunn having said already in several interviews that the events of 'Superman' directly play into Season 2 of the John Cena-led comic book series. Characters introduced in 'Superman,' including Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), even make appearances in 'Peacemaker' Season 2. 'Superman' is arriving on PVOD digital platforms Friday, August 15, more or less a month after it opened in theaters July 11 from Warner Bros. and DC Studios. Many comic book movie fans expressed disappointment at Warner Bros. for bringing 'Superman' to digital so soon after its theatrical opening since the movie has proven to be a box office smash hit with $334 million and counting domestically. The film is nearing $600 million globally as well. 'Superman' has seen solid weekend holds at the box office, earning a strong $7 million in its fifth and most recent outing. When ScreenRant's Liam Crowley voiced to Gunn that it was heartbreaking to see the summer blockbuster "already going to digital because I love a good, long theatrical campaign,' Gunn agreed by saying, 'Me too.' The writer-director then explained the divisive decision. 'Well, it's very complicated, but the truth is it is because of 'Peacemaker,'' Gunn noted. 'I originally thought 'Peacemaker' was going to be coming out next month. There was a lot of things that are beyond our control, so that 'Peacemaker' is coming out now, and, at the end of the day, I wanted everyone to be able to see 'Superman' that wanted to, even those people who couldn't get to a theater before 'Peacemaker.' And that's really the reason for it.' 'Superman' will continue to play in theaters even as it launches on digital platforms. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
