Alabama landed a commitment from four-star recruit Ezavier Crowell, the No. 2 running back in the Class of 2026.
The Jackson, Ala., native committed to the Crimson Tide on Thursday over offers from Auburn, Texas and Georgia.
He'll be joined in the class by one of the top 100 recruits in the country and No. 6 overall tight end, Mack Sutter. Sutter, a multi-sport athlete from Dunlap, Ill., had interest from many college football powers in the past two years. He caught seven TD passes as a junior last season.
Crowell led Jackson High to a Class 4A state championship last season, rushing for 1,964 yards and 31 touchdowns.
He ranks No. 33 overall and No. 3 in the state of Alabama, per the 247 Sports composite.
Crowell, who reclassified from the 2027 class in January, ran for 1,737 yards as a 2023 freshman at Jackson HS.

Miami Hurricanes land another four-star recruit. Details on the newest 2026 commitment

Four-star prospect Anthony Kennedy Jr. on Friday became the Miami Hurricanes' seventh commitment in the past week, giving UM a behemoth defensive tackle in a 2026 class that's shaping up as one of the nation's best. The Arkansas-based Kennedy, who's 6-3 and 335 pounds, visited UM in late May and picked the Hurricanes over SMU and Missouri. A senior-to-be at Little Rock Central High, Kennedy was committed to Missouri for five months (last December through mid May) before de-committing after the resignation of Tigers defensive line coach Al Davis. He visited Missouri last weekend but opted for Miami. Both 247 Sports and rate him the No. 36 defensive lineman in the 2026 class. places him 383rd among all prospects. But his stock has continued to rise, as college programs perpetually search for difficult-to-move defensive tackles who can stop the run. According to 247 Sports, Kennedy had offers from Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Texas, Texas A&M and UF, among others. Hurricanes defensive line coach Jason Taylor previously visited Kennedy in Arkansas, setting the wheels in motion for Kennedy's official visit a month ago. Kennedy joins Alabama-based Tyson Bacon as the second defensive lineman among Miami's 19 commitments for 2026. Of UM's seven commitments in the past week, six are members of UM's 2026 class, which has risen to sixth in the 247 rankings. The 2026 commitments earlier this week: tight end Israel Briggs, receivers Vance Spafford and Tyran Evans, linebacker Justin Edwards and edge player Asharri Charles.

The Sporting News predicts Alabama's 2025 season, CFP fate in Year 2 under Kalen DeBoer

The 2025 college football season is just over two months away, and The Sporting News is among several national media outlets making its prediction for the Alabama Crimson Tide in Year 2 under coach Kalen DeBoer. Alabama finished 9-4 last season, hardly the worst start for a coach tasked with enormous expectations following the retirement of Nick Saban. But a stunning loss to Vanderbilt after the Crimson Tide's rollercoaster win over Georgia, followed by a pair of ugly losses down the stretch to Oklahoma and a Michigan team that was a shell of its 2023 self, left something of a sour taste to close 2024. DeBoer and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb will have to break in a new quarterback in Ty Simpson, but Alabama has a lot of talent returning in 2025 -- particularly in the wide receiver room with Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard leading the way, and in the secondary with cornerbacks Zabien Brown and Domani Jackson, and safeties Keon Sabb and Bray Hubbard. The Crimson Tide also have an incoming freshman class that ranks in the top five in recruiting. Earlier this week, the Sporting News made its 12-team playoff predictions for the 2025 season. In the outlet's preseason projections, Alabama makes the College Football Playoff as the No. 7 seed and hosts a first-round playoff game against the Miami Hurricanes at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Per Bender: "Kalen DeBoer gets the Crimson Tide back in the College Football Playoff in his second season, and the Hurricanes are the at-large bid for the ACC. That means Carson Beck delivers as the new starting quarterback, and Mario Cristobal avoids a season-altering upset." A return trip to Tuscaloosa would mark Beck's second game in Bryant-Denny Stadium in as many seasons. As Georgia's starter in 2023 and '24, Beck went 0-2 against Alabama, including last year's 41-34 thriller on Sept. 28 that was clinched by a game-saving interception from the freshman Brown. For its part, Miami looked to be a lock for the ACC Championship Game last year under Heisman Trophy finalist and No. 1 overall NFL draft pick Cam Ward, but the Hurricanes lost its regular season finale in an upset at Syracuse. The Sporting News sees Alabama taking on defending national champion Ohio State in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 2026. That means a matchup against former 5-star Crimson Tide QB commit Julian Sayin. "The Buckeyes are in the Rose Bowl for the second straight season as the Big Ten champion, and Alabama would be a formidable matchup. Julian Sayin -- who decommitted from Alabama after Nick Saban retired -- would be the center of attention in this matchup assuming he wins the starting job for the Buckeyes." Bender sees Alabama falling to the Buckeyes in Pasadena as part of his overall prediction that Ryan Day's team will return to the national championship game for a second year in a row; this time in a matchup against Texas at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Jan. 20. Alabama football schedule 2025 Alabama opens the 2025 season against Florida State at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Aug. 30. Kickoff was announced earlier this spring for 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ABC. Here's the rest of the 2025 Alabama football schedule with updated start times. All times Central. Notre Dame commit Caden Crowell named Indiana Player of the Year

Notre Dame commit Caden Crowell, the No. 2 ranked player in Indiana's Class of 2025, was named Indiana Player of the Year following a spectacular 2025 season. The left-hander was magical on the mound, allowing just two earned runs over 55 innings while recording 97 strikeouts. He walked just 11 batters. Crowell recorded a perfect 6-0 mark with an obscene 0.53 WHIP. He did not allow a single extra-base-hit or any stolen bases the entire spring, holding opponents to a .098 batting average. Ridiculous numbers. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder, who also plays first base, hit .375 with 14 extra-base hits, including three HRs, three triples and eight doubles. He also had four steals and drove in 24. Crowell, who is one of the top 50 prospects in the country, helped Valparaiso win its first-ever Class 4A state championship. The question now is whether Crowell will make it to South Bend and pitch for the Fighting Irish. It will all depend on how things shake out in the Major League Baseball Draft in July.
