Boney Kapoor paid tribute to his late mother, Nirmal Kapoor, on Mother's Day with an emotional Instagram post. Nirmal Kapoor passed away on May 2, 2023, at 90 in Mumbai.
Nirmal Kapoor, mother of actors Anil Kapoor and producer Boney Kapoor, passed away in Mumbai on May 2 at the age of 90. She breathed her last around 5:45 pm at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Her final rites were conducted the following day at Pawan Hans Crematorium, where several Bollywood celebrities, including Karan Johar, Rani Mukerji, and Farhan Akhtar, gathered to pay their last respects.
On the occasion of Mother's Day today, April 11, 2025, Boney Kapoor paid a heartfelt tribute to his late mother Nirmal Kapoor. Taking to Instagram, he shared an emotional post along with memories from his childhood.
Taking to social media, he shared a touching childhood photo with his mother alongside a poignant moment from the ash immersion ceremony, offering a heartfelt glimpse into the final rites. His caption read, 'Maa You were my favorite hello and my hardest goodbye #MothersDay #happymothersday."

After his mother's death, Boney had issued a statement on Instagram reading, 'Passed away peacefully on the 2nd of May, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She lived a full and joyful life, leaving behind four devoted children, loving daughters-in-law, a caring son-in-law, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a lifetime of treasured memories."
'Her generous spirit and boundless love touched all who knew her. She will remain in our hearts–forever cherished, forever missed. Boney, Anil, Reena, Sanjay, Sunita, Sandeep, Maheep, Mohit, Akshay, Sonam, Arjun, Rhea, Harshvarrdhan, Anshula, Janhvi, Shanaya, Khushi, Jahaan, Antara, Anand, Aashita, Karan Thea, Vayu, Ayra, Yuvaan," the note further read.
Nirmal Kapoor was the proud matriarch of the Kapoor family, mother to Boney Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, and Reena Kapoor Marwah, and grandmother to a new generation of stars—Sonam, Rhea, Harsh Varrdhan, Janhvi, Khushi, Arjun, Anshula, Shanaya, and Mohit Marwah.
