The Wait Is Over: India's 5th-Gen Stealth Jet With AI Co-Pilot Will Take Its First Flight In...

Last Updated: The AMCA matches F-35, J-20 and Su-57 with serpentine air intakes, radar-wave absorption tech, and all-aspect stealth design, ensuring minimal visibility from all angles India is advancing in the development of modern fighter jets using indigenous technology, responding to the changed strategic environment that necessitates the creation of fifth-generation stealth jets. The Tejas fighter aircraft serves as a prime example of India's progress in the fighter jet manufacturing sector. Currently, India is working on a specialised project to develop a fifth-generation stealth fighter jet called the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). Krishna Rajendra, the AMCA Project Director, recently provided a significant update, revealing that the design for the AMCA fighter jet has been finalised. He also mentioned that the first flight appearance of the AMCA jet is expected by the end of 2027, marking the beginning of the process for its induction into the Armed Forces. The AMCA project aims to create a fifth-generation fighter jet using indigenous technology and prototype design. Unlike the Tejas multirole fighter jet project, AMCA is exclusively focused on developing a fifth-generation aircraft. In the short term, India will continue to import multirole and fifth-generation fighter jets, such as the Rafale and the American F-35 or Russia's Su-57. However, long-term dependence on these imports is projected to significantly reduce. With the development of the AMCA, the dream of an indigenous fifth-generation fighter jet will soon be realised. According to 'India Defence News', the paper design of the AMCA has been finalised by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), with the first flight slated by the end of 2027. The design is wholly indigenous, involving collaboration between ADA (Aeronautical Development Agency), several Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) labs, academic institutions, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The central government has approved approximately Rs 15,000 crore for the project, which plans to produce five prototype designs in the initial phase before beginning serial production. Key Features Of Indigenous 5th-Gen Fighter Jet Twin-engine, Single-seat design: Maximum take-off weight of 25 tonnes. Internal weapon bay: Stores weapons inside the aircraft to reduce radar detection. Stealth mode: Can carry up to 1.5 tonnes of weapons in internal bays. Non-stealth mode: Can carry up to 5 tonnes of weapons on external pylons. Super-cruise capability: Enables sustained supersonic flight without afterburners. AESA radar, sensor fusion, and network-centric warfare systems: Provide real-time battlefield awareness. Artificial Intelligence-based 'Electronic Pilot': Assists the pilot and functions as a virtual co-pilot. Exclusive Stealth Capabilities The AMCA's stealth capabilities, comparable to the American F-35, Chinese J-20, and Russian Su-57, include serpentine air intakes to hide engine blades from radar, technology to prevent radar wave reflection, and an all-aspect stealth design for minimal visibility from all angles. Additionally, it will have a heat signature reduction system to evade infrared sensors and low electromagnetic signature technology to dodge electronic surveillance systems. Stealth vs Non-Stealth Mode The design of the AMCA balances weapon capacity with stealth. In stealth mode, internal weapon storage reduces radar signature but limits weapon capacity to 1.5 tonnes. In non-stealth mode, external pylons increase load capacity to 5 tonnes but make the aircraft more detectable. Strategic Significance Strategically, the AMCA is poised to replace older aircraft like the MiG and Jaguar in the Indian Air Force, enhancing India's air power alongside the Tejas LCA and the future Medium Multi-Role Fighter Aircraft (MMRFA). With this project, India joins the exclusive group of nations capable of building indigenous fifth-generation stealth fighters, a capability previously held only by the US, Russia, and China. The AMCA project symbolises India's technological prowess, strategic self-reliance, and commitment to the 'Make in India' defence initiative, promising a substantial boost to the indigenous defence industry and a technological edge in future conflicts. view comments First Published: News india The Wait Is Over: India's 5th-Gen Stealth Jet With AI Co-Pilot Will Take Its First Flight In... This lethal weapon is more powerful than Rafale fighter jet, can beat F-35, S-400, BrahMos also...the weapon is...

This lethal weapon is more powerful than Rafale fighter jet, can beat F-35, S-400, BrahMos also…, the weapon is… 5th Generation Fighter Jet: Conflicts between Russia-Ukraine, Israel-Hamas, Israel-Iran and Thailand-Cambodia have shaken the world and highlighted the need for good aerial defence systems and high-tech fighter jets. Most of the developed countries are using the fifth-generation fighter jets to safeguard their airspace. These fighter jets have stealth capability and are capable of dodging radar systems. It is believed that the country which has the most advanced fighter jet has the upper hand if war takes place. China has recently introduced the J-35. The aircraft is specially designed to compete with the United States' F-35. As the J-35 has tremendous stealth technology, it has become very challenging for even the most advanced radars to detect it. Even BrahMos faces difficulty in destroying it. China's Navy To Be Strengthened The Fujian carrier has electromagnetic aircraft launch system (EMALS) technology, which is at the level of the US USS Gerald R. Ford. This technology gives the ability to launch heavier and more upgraded fighter jets, which will greatly increase the power projection and operational flexibility of the PLAN (PLA Navy). J-35 To Be Deployed On Chinese Aircraft Carrier As per reports of 'India Defence News,' the J-35 was tested on the Liaoning and Shandong carriers. The fighter jet will also be deployed on the Dragon's latest and largest Fujian aircraft carrier. Modern Weapon System The 'Made in China' jet is equipped with modern stealth technology, the latest avionics, and WS-13E engines. The jet can reach a speed of Mach 1.8 and is capable of carrying long-range air-to-air missiles such as the PL-15 or PL-21. It can also carry air-to-surface weapons like the CJ-10. Strategic Impact On India According to several media reports, the Dragon wants to make six aircraft carriers operational by 2035. These carriers will have the J-35 as the main fighter jet. This development will not only challenge the US's military supremacy in the region but will also have a direct impact on India's maritime security capability. Why Is the J-35 Fighter Jet Special The fighter jet has a low radar cross-section comparable to the US F-35, which makes it difficult to detect on Indian radar networks. It is equipped with AESA radar and EO/IR tracking and has the ability to engage targets remotely with long-range missiles. Its capacity to function from aircraft carriers enables the PLAN to sustain a continuous presence in the Indian Ocean.

"Made-In-India Semiconductor Chip To Come In Market By This Year End": PM

New Delhi: First made-in-India semiconductor chip will be launched in the market by the end of this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday. Addressing the nation on the 79th Independence Day, PM Modi said that six semiconductor units are already on ground and four new units have been given green signal. "By the end of this year, made in India, made by the people of India, made in India chips will come to the market," PM Modi said. Semiconductors, key components for any electronic device, have diverse applications ranging from mobile phones and computers to home appliance and electric vehicles. The prime minister said that the thought process for semiconductors in the country started 50-60 years ago but it got stuck in the files while several countries have mastered it and are dominating the world. "My dear youth, you will be surprised to know that today, the semiconductor, which has become the strength of the world, 50-60 years ago, that thought process, those files, got stuck. They got stuck. The thought process of the semiconductor itself was foeticide 50-60 years ago. It lost 50-60 years. After us, many countries, in semiconductors, today, have mastered the technology and consolidated their power," PM Modi said. The PM said that he is not at the Red Fort to criticise any government but it is equally important for youth to know about it. He said that the country has now freed itself from the burden of the past and is moving forward in the area of semiconductors in a mission mode. The first known attempt to set up a semiconductor plant in India was made by American physicist and entrepreneur Robert Noyce in late 1960s before he co-founded Intel with Gordon Moore. India's semiconductor market is expected to more than double to grow in the range of USD 100-110 billion by 2030, according to industry estimates, an official statement said on Sunday. The Indian semiconductor market was about USD 45-50 billion in 2024-2025 against USD 38 billion in 2023, according to an official statement which cited industry estimates. The Union Cabinet this week approved four semiconductor plants, including a unit backed by US technology major Intel and Lockheed Martin, entailing a total investment of Rs 4,594 crore in three states of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab. The Cabinet approved a 3D glass semiconductor packaging unit to be set up by 3D Glass Solutions Inc -- which is backed by US technology majors such as Intel, Lockheed Martin and Applied Materials, entailing an investment of Rs 1,943 crore with an annual production capacity of 5 crore units. This is the first semiconductor project that involves personal computer chip maker Intel Corporation along with other technology partners. The Cabinet approved the country's first commercial compound fabrication unit by SiCsem for making silicon carbide semiconductors. The plant will be set up in Bhubaneswar with an investment of Rs 2,066 crore with capacity to produce 9.6 crore chips per year. A chip packaging plant in Andhra Pradesh, to be set up by Advanced System in Package Technologies with an investment of Rs 468 crore, was also approved by the Cabinet. It will have a capacity to produce 9.6 crore chips per year. The Cabinet also cleared a semiconductor project of electronics component maker firm CDIL. The facility will be set up in Punjab with an investment of Rs 117 crore, having an annual production capacity of 15.8 crore units. The new semiconductor projects raise the total number of chip plants in India to 10 with cumulative investment commitment of around Rs 1.6 lakh crore. The chip plants that are setting up factories in advance stages include semiconductor wafer manufacturing units by Tata Electronics (TEPL) in partnership with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (PSMC) of Taiwan with a proposed investment of around Rs 91,000 crore. The other five plants are into the field of chip packaging, which include a unit by US memory chip maker Micron Technology with Rs 22,516 crore investment, one by CG Power & Industrial Pvt Ltd in partnership with Renesas & Stars with Rs 7,600 crore investment, a Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Pvt Ltd (TSAT) plant worth Rs 27,000 crore, a Kaynes Semicon unit of Rs 3,307 crore and a unit of HCL-Foxconn JV entailing an investment of Rs 3,700 crore.
