Is Phil Dunster not in Ted Lasso Season 4? 8 other favorites who could be out
But will we see all of our favorites?
So far, there has not been any official confirmation on any of the following:
Before you panic, just know this doesn't meant that they're definitely not returning in their roles. There is potential that the new season centers around the new AFC Richmond women's team that Keeley pitched to Rebecca at the end of Season 3. If that's the case -- and Ted is being approached to help with or coach the women's squad -- it makes sense we'd see less of the men's players.
There's still a chance that some, or all, of the previous supporting cast returns. We'll just have to wait and see.
Is Phil Dunster coming back as Jamie Tartt?
Regarding that, from Deadline:
Not picked up at the time was Phil Dunster (Jamie), in part due to a conflict with another series. He has since signed on for a series regular role on a new HBO comedy from Ted Lasso executive producer Bill Lawrence and Warner Bros TV but could potentially reprise his role in some limited capacity, with fellow Brit Nick Mohammed (Nate) teasing a possible Ted Lasso return in January.

Hannah Waddingham Compares 'Ted Lasso' Season 4 to a ‘Beloved Dog That Was Buried'
While fans of the hit show Ted Lasso still have a while before the show's return for Season 4, the comments from the cast alone are reason for excitement. That's at least partially because the show's stars always seem overjoyed to discuss the upcoming season and the fact that Ted Lasso hasn't bid its fans farewell just yet. While plenty of familiar faces are set to return for the fourth season of the beloved Apple TV+ series, there'll also be several new additions in the mix. Of those names returning, AFC Richmond owner Hannah Waddingham, aka Rebecca Welton, is more than willing to express her excitement about what lies ahead in Season 4. During an interview with Variety at the Smurfs premiere in Los Angeles, Waddingham spoke about the return of Ted Lasso and offered one of the most unique analogies imaginable. "It feels like it was the most beautiful, beloved dog that was buried, and now we've exhumed it, and I am here for it," Waddingham said. "I was hankering and hankering and hankering and hankering to see where Rebecca had gone, where she was going to. She's my girl. She's in my bloodstream, so I'm thrilled that it's been exhumed." It's an incredible analogy to come up with on the spot, but it's also a bit spot on. The future of Ted Lasso seemed uncertain after Season 3, but with the announcement of its return, Season 4 promises to be beautiful and beloved. Along with Waddingham, we know Ted Lasso himself, Jason Sudeikis, will be back, along with fellow assistant coaches Brett Goldstein and Brendan Hunt. Many others have hinted at their potential return, but have kept details under wraps while avoiding giving too much away about Season Waddingham Compares 'Ted Lasso' Season 4 to a 'Beloved Dog That Was Buried' first appeared on Men's Journal on Jul 14, 2025 Solve the daily Crossword

‘Ted Lasso' Season 4 Adds 6 New Cast Members
Popular Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso is one step closer to its official return. While a significant shift in the storyline is slated for Season 4, there'll be some familiar faces returning, and others that remain up in the air. However, one thing we do know is that filming is now underway. As Deadline first reported, Jason Sudeikis, who plays Lasso, will be rejoined by five familiar faces for Season 4. That list includes AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham), player-turned-coach Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), and assistant coaches—Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt), Keeley Jones (Juno Temple), and Leslie Higgins (Jeremy Swift). While the status of other fan favorites remains uncertain, six new additions to the Ted Lasso cast have been revealed. According to Deadline, the six new cast members will all be series regulars, featuring Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), Jude Mack (Back In Action), Faye Marsay (Adolescence), Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey (Jurassic World: Dominion) and Abbie Hern (My Lady Jane). The most significant piece of news comes in the form of one recasting—Lasso's son in the show, Henry. The role will be played by Grant Feely, who portrayed a young Luke Skywalker in the Lucasfilm/Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. According to the report, part of the reason behind the Ted Lasso recasting of the role played by Gus Turner over the first three seasons is due to Henry becoming a "skilled soccer player himself." Regarding the beloved former cast from the first three seasons, there have reportedly already been talks with Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt) and Cristo Fernandez (Danny Rojas) to return in guest roles.'Ted Lasso' Season 4 Adds 6 New Cast Members first appeared on Men's Journal on Jul 21, 2025 Solve the daily Crossword

'Ted Lasso' Season 4: Jamie Tartt and Danny Rojas in Talks for Guest Appearances
With Ted Lasso undergoing a notable on-field shift in its storyline, the status of many beloved characters from the first three seasons remains in question. Season 4 of the hit Apple TV+ series will feature Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) coaching a women's team after spending three years as the men's AFC Richmond manager. While names like Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins) were confirmed as returning by Deadline, the same can't be said for a few other notable characters. However, while there has been no confirmation on Lasso's friend-turned-enemy (and then friend again) Nick Mohammed (Nathan Shelley), there was an update on two other high-profile names: Jamie Tartt and Danny Rojas. Phil Dunster, who plays Tartt and Cristo Fernandez (Rojas), are two names specifically highlighted by Deadline as already having been part of conversations to return for Ted Lasso Season 4 in guest appearances. While it appears that Dunster and Fernandez have a real chance to return in some fashion for Season 4, there has been little revealed about other former players from the team. Tartt and Rojas became fan-favorites, with the former taking center stage effectively from the beginning of Season 1. Tartt transformed his game from being a score-first, pass-second player to becoming a beloved member of AFC Richmond. He was initially on loan to Richmond from Manchester City, and after another stint with Manchester City, returned to join Lasso and company. Filming of Ted Lasso Season 4 is now underway, and fans will have to wait and see on the status of the rest of the former cast and their likelihood of returning to the series.'Ted Lasso' Season 4: Jamie Tartt and Danny Rojas in Talks for Guest Appearances first appeared on Men's Journal on Jul 21, 2025 Solve the daily Crossword
