A teenage girl is recovering in hospital after she was shot by a police officer outside a busy hotel.
Queensland Police allege that the 17-year-old girl was armed and "making threats" when the officer shot her outside the West End Hotel in Townsville on June 10.
Officers were called to the Ingham Road hotel just before 5.30pm.
When they arrived, the teenager was armed with a knife, police said.
She allegedly "came at police" and was shot in the abdomen, investigators said.
Police provided first aid on the scene before the teenager was transported to the Townsville University Hospital.
She remains in a stable condition.
Police have established a crime scene, and investigations are continuing.
The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident, Queensland Police said.

They were demanding a refund, Queensland Police said. The victim was allegedly thrown off the balcony, and beaten with a broken balustrade. He suffered serious spinal injuries that require surgery, Queensland Police said. The group then fled in a Volkswagen van. A 40-year-old Lockrose man was arrested following police investigation. He has been charged with with one count of grievous bodily harm, and one count of assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company. He is set to reappear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on September 17. Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Police are seeking witnesses and dashcam vision after a fatal crash closed the Hunter Expressway near Greta early Friday evening. Emergency services were called to Greta about 5.20pm (August 15), after two SUVs - both travelling southeast - collided. A 63-year-old woman, from Aberdeen, driving the vehicle in front, a red 2022-model Isuzu, was not injured and stopped nearby; however, the occupants of the other vehicle involved in the incident were trapped when it rolled several times. A 61-year-old woman, from Bonnells Bay, who was driving the grey 2020-model Honda HR-V, and her 88-year-old female passenger, were trapped for about an hour before the older woman was released and airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, where she later died. The driver was taken by road ambulance to the same hospital. Officers from Hunter Valley Police District attended and have commenced investigations into the incident. A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner. As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or any witnesses to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Man dies after being struck by vehicle in Butler in Perth's north-west

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Perth's north-west overnight. Police say emergency services received reports that a man and a vehicle were involved in a collision just before 1am on Marmion Avenue in Butler. He was declared dead at the scene. A 19-year-old man is assisting police with their inquiries. Police are urging anyone with information relating to this incident to contact Crime Stoppers. Anyone with relevant CCTV, dash cam or mobile phone footage of the area at that time is asked to contact police.
