Cops complete probe into ‘Datuk Seri' over alleged pistol-whipping of woman
PETALING JAYA : Penang police have completed their investigation into a 'Datuk Seri' who allegedly pistol-whipped a woman in George Town on June 1.
Acting state police chief Alwi Zainal Abidin said they sent the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor a month ago.
'We're just awaiting instructions on our next steps,' Kosmo reported him as saying when asked about the matter in Seberang Perai today.
The 41-year-old suspect was arrested in George Town on June 3 on suspicion of pistol-whipping a female motorist in an incident that allegedly took place while she was driving on Jalan Kelawei two days earlier.
Timur Laut police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the victim suffered severe injuries to her nose and eyes after being struck by the suspect with the pistol's handle.
'Police seized a pistol, its magazine, and the man's licence for possession of the firearm and ammunition,' he said.
The case was investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a dangerous weapon and Section 34 of the Arms Act 1960 for carrying a firearm while drunk.
The victim was said to be driving towards Tanjung Tokong with two friends when her car skidded and veered into the middle lane before continuing on its way.
She then realised that she was being tailed by a black Mercedes Benz, which overtook her and blocked her in front of a petrol station on Jalan Kelawai.
The suspect allegedly placed his pistol into the victim's mouth before striking her several times with the weapon. In her police report, the victim claimed her assailant was drunk.

Bentley and Porsche cars among RM6m luxury vehicles seized in Melaka JPJ's road tax and insurance crackdown
MELAKA, Aug 12 — The Melaka Road Transport Department (RTD) seized seven luxury vehicles, estimated to be worth almost RM6 million, during 'Op Khas Luxury' (Special Luxury Operation) conducted from July 1 until today. 'The driver was found to not have a valid driver's license, and none of them had valid travel documents before being handed over to the police for further action,' she said at a press conference on Op Khas Luxury and Op Pemandu Warga Asing (PeWA) (Foreign Driver Operation) here today. Also present were the Deputy Director of the Melaka RTD, Khairul Aswad Abdul Halim, and the Head of the Melaka RTD Enforcement Division, Zulhilmi Zaidie. Elaborating further, Siti Zarina said that a check revealed that the owner of the Toyota Alphard is a local citizen while a detailed investigation is underway to examine various aspects, including whether the vehicle was rented to the foreigners involved. She added that Op Luxury was launched simultaneously across the country on July 1, focusing on strengthening enforcement against imported and luxury vehicles that fail to comply with road regulations and laws. In another development, she said 36 motorcycles ridden by foreigners were also seized under Op PeWA (operation codenamed Op Pewa for vehicles operated by foreigners), which was conducted around the state today. 'The foreigners riding motorcycles were from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Rohingya, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Penang DAP assistant secretary H'ng Mooi Lye said the huge flag measuring 10x20ft was put up as an educational effort to demonstrate the correct way to display the national flag and to prevent similar mistakes from recurring.
