Smart Shuffle was added to Spotify on March 8, 2023
Credit: Spotify
It's linked to the Smart Shuffle feature, which landed back in 2023.
The feature is meant to shuffle in recommended tracks when you're listening to dedicated playlists – even ones you've made yourself.
Spotify promised that the feature would "breathe new life" into playlists, and give you a "fresh mix" every time.
But if you didn't want to use Smart Shuffle, you'd have to tap several times to switch it off.
Now you can simply turn Smart Shuffle off altogether, letting you enjoy a pure shuffle mode that only uses songs from the playlist.
And you can still use "linear" playback to just listen to the songs in playlist order, if you prefer.
MUSIC TO THEIR EARS?
Spotify made a big announcement when the feature first launched, even forcing it as the default option on millions of users.
The streaming giant justified the decision by saying: "Our users love creating playlists to reflect key moments in their lives or soundtrack moments that matter.
"These often become a listener's most-streamed playlist for the first several months after creation.
"But over time they stream these playlists less frequently in favor of new music or mixes."
How to save money on Spotify
The company said that Smart Shuffle would include "perfectly tailored suggestions".
But Spotify has clearly listened to user fan reaction, now offering an easier way to avoid Smart Shuffle.
And Spotify listeners are overjoyed, with a post revealing the feature on Reddit earning more than a thousand "upvotes".
One said that Smart Shuffle "isn't that smart", adding: "They just recommend popular songs that I don't want to hear over and over again. Thank you for this!"

You'll want to toggle Enable All Play Modes off – if it's green, then you'll still see Smart Shuffle

Another said: "YEEEEES oh my god your post just made my day, thank you!"
One added: "Omg????? I've been waiting for this day for years", while a different user cheered: "Immediately turning that trash off."
And another one of the dozens of Spotify fans replying to the post simply wrote: "Thank god! FINALLY!"
TURN OFF SMART SHUFFLE
Turning off Smart Shuffle is now very easy – if the update has reached your phone.

First make sure that you're using the latest version of Spotify from the Apple App Store for iOS on iPhone or the Google Play Store for Android.
Then go into Spotify Settings, look for Playback, and then disable Enable All Play Modes.
Spotify explains: "When enabled, you can select from Linear, Shuffle, and Smart Shuffle play modes on your playlists.
"Turn it off to remove the Smart Shuffle option."

Some users reported also seeing a dedicated Smart Shuffle toggle in that menu.
For that feature, Spotify explains: "Smart Shuffle is available as a play mode on playlists. Turning this off will remove the option from your experience."
It's unclear why different users are seeing varying settings.
But The Sun was able to verify the existence of the Enable All Play Modes toggle via Spotify on an iPhone.
If you can't see the new feature, there's a chance that it hasn't rolled out to your device yet.
So you'll just need to sit tight and wait for it to show up.

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) AN ICONIC flat from a beloved British TV show is being auctioned off for just £190,000. Housed inside a uniquely curve-designed building, it was used as the lead character's home across the show's more than two decade run. The Grade II-listed building has an Art Deco design that was constructed in 1936, making it unique for its time. Built by Guy Morgan and Partners, it has an iconic curved shape which may be recognisable in one of Britain's favourite TV shows than ran for more than two decades. The building was used as the Whitehaven Mansions, which was the home of Agatha Christie's beloved fictional detective Hercule Poirot. Inside the block, actually called Florin Court, there are nine floors with 120 flats, which contains porter service, two lifts and a secure entry system. Other amenities include an indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym and communal lounge, which were considered rare additions during the time it was built. There is also a rooftop garden with views across the city. This £190,000 priced property is located in London's Barbican, on Charterhouse Square. Pricing is before fees, but it is a small flat. Flat 28 of Florin Court measures just 209 sq ft or less than 20 sq. TV legend David Suchet stars as murder mystery detective Poirot in Poirot The space is therefore very a studio, even smaller than the minimum requirements now in place for new built single-person homes at 37 sq m. Within the studio there is a bedroom and living space, as well as separate areas for the kitchenette and bathroom. However, it does prove to be in the prime location of central London with easy access to the City of London, the Elizabeth line, or Barbican and Farringdon underground stations. It is also described to be situated on a residential road with plent of shops and amenities close by. Amongst those include the open spaces of the Barbican Wildlife Garden. 8 Whitehaven Mansions was depicted as the home of the famous Agatha Christie detective 8 It was Hercule Poirot's home, which was played by David Suchet between 1989 and 2013 Credit: ITV And of course, a great appeal to the property is its architecture and design, which may have made it attractive for directors to use it as a set location. Both the interior and exterior of the block of flats was shot for the iconic British TV show across its 24 years of production. Agatha Christie's Poirot even had an episode called The Third Floor Flat in its first season of running in 1989. This flat that has been put on auction is therefore ideal for fans of the show, or even just to admire its architecture. Florin Court was even used again for the filming of one of Batman's leading character spin-offs, "Pennywise" in 2019. The property is currently held on a 999 year lease from 1st April 2017, therefore being approximately 991 years unexpired. It also has an EPC rating of C, being auctioned by Auction House this month. Viewings reportedly took place on the afternoons of August 1 and August 5 for the flat, however it is still being listed as unsold. 8 The property also has a gym, a communal lounge and rooftop garden Credit: auctionhouse

Scots Oasis superfan, 12, goes viral after mum surprises him with Murrayfield tickets

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THIS is the heartwarming moment a young Oasis superfan was left jumping for joy after being surprised with a ticket for the band's comeback gig in Edinburgh. Harris Mackay, 12, was gutted last year after thinking he missed out on getting tickets to see the Gallagher brothers. 5 Lisa Mackay surprised her 12-year-old son, Harris, with Oasis tickets Credit: SUPPLIED 5 And Harris' touching reaction went viral on social media Credit: SUPPLIED 5 Young Harris is a massive fan of the Britpop icons Credit: SUPPLIED The youngster, from the Highlands, is a huge fan of the Britpop icons and even dressed up as frontman Liam for Halloween. He even has an Oasis-themed bedroom and constantly listens to the band on his mum, Lisa's, Spotify account. And when the music app revealed that Harris had sent Lisa into Oasis' top listeners, she he knew she had to work out a way to get him to one of the sell-out shows at Murrayfield Stadium. Liam kicked off the first of three massive gigs in the capital city on Friday alongside brother Noel, 58 - ending a 16-year wait for the return of the Be Here Now stars. And Lisa managed to get tickets for Harris to go on Tuesday night, which was the third and final Scottish night of their comeback gigs. She decided to surprise him on the morning of the show, and young Harris was overcome with excitement. I got tickets at the weekend and decided to surprise him on the day. We drove down from Golspie Lisa Mackay Lisa told The Scottish Sun: "Last year, when the tickets went on sale, Harris got up early and set up his phone to try and help me and his dad get tickets. "He spent the whole day in the queue trying to get us tickets, and we had no luck! Thankfully, my friend got Heaton Park tickets, and we got two. "From then on, he just got more and more into Oasis - he dressed as Liam for Halloween and sang Wonderwall in every house he went to. Much to the annoyance of all his pals. "At Christmas, when Spotify unwrapped came out, it came up that I was in the top 0.5 per cent of listeners. Joyous moment Scots schoolgirl dances to favourite Oasis song outside packed Murrayfield gig "He uses my account, and I knew then he was a huge fan. He has been following the whole tour on Instagram and telling me everything that has been going on. "He was so excited for us when we went off to Manchester in July, and again so excited for his uncle and auntie getting to go to Murrayfield on Saturday. "So I just decided to bite the bullet. I got tickets at the weekend and decided to surprise him on the day. "We drove down from Golspie in the Highlands." Best night of my life Harris Mackay Lisa filmed the moment she gave him the tickets, and after finding out they were going that night, Harris tells his mum, "I love you so much". The sweet video quickly went viral on social media and was shared by a fan page on Instagram called Oasis Live 25. The captioned the clip: "This is it!! This is what Oasis means to people. Lisa making her little boy, Harris', dreams come true." Replying in the comments, Harris himself said: "Best night of my life". Other followers flocked to the comments, with many saying they were left "in tears" watching Harris' joy. One person said: "Tears to my eyes watching the happiness of this young boy". Another added: "Who else is crying right now?!" Someone else posted: "Beautiful. Great taste in music lad!! What an amazing summer this band have given us all." While a fourth wrote: "I love this! What a truly appreciative, lucky and grateful young man he is". And a fifth chimed in: "Totally welling up at 'I love you so much'". DEFINITELY I DO HARRIS isn't the only one who had a life-changing night at one of the Oasis shows at Murrayfield. A couple in the crowd got engaged during the sold-out Oasis gig in Edinburgh on Friday night. Gigs in Scotland caught the adorable moment an Oasis fan got down on one knee during the band's hit Slide Away. In a clip shared on social media, Liam can be seen singing the 1994 song. As he sings the lyrics: "Now that you're mine," the camera then pans around to the fan proposing to his girlfriend. During the video, the woman, dressed in an Oasis top and bucket hat, can be seen saying yes during the proposal. He then pops the ring on her finger and the couple share a kiss as they enjoy the heartwarming moment. Gigs in Scotland wrote: "We caught a very special moment during Slide Away... "Huge congrats to the happy couple!" Lisa told The Scottish Sun that Harris has always loved music, and even sang before he could talk after a "tough start" to life. The mum said: "He has always loved music since he was tiny, could literally sing before he could talk properly. "He was born with a condition which made him unable to breathe for himself when he was born, and he was in hospital for the first six months of his life. "He needed an operation at two to close a cleft palate, so it was a tough start for him. "Music has always been in bones. "His first favourite band was The Beatles, and we took him to some tribute shows of them and Creedence Clearwater Revival when he was as young as five." 5 Harris said going to the sell-out gig on Tuesday was the 'best night of my life' Credit: SUPPLIED

Millie, who is already mother to Ophelia, four, Chester, three, and Elodie, 22 months, beamed as she said: 'Hi guys - so we have a big surprise to share with you all.' Following this, Harley chimed in and claimed: 'Ophelia was begging us for ages, it was at least a year.' The couple then held up their 'new addition' - a Jack-A-Poo puppy named Bella. Harley explained: 'She's literally just over eight weeks old,' whilst Millie continued: 'She is teething at the minute, so she's just chewing everything. 'She absolutely loves this mayhem house - when I picked her up, in her litter she was probably the most playful one, which was very ideal, especially for this household because it's just constantly mad.' The 22 Kids & Counting star then admitted: 'I was scared to get a dog - three young kids and a dog, but she has been great. 'She's settled in really well as well - so yeah, that's our new addition.' Moments later, Harley, who was previously filmed breaking down in tears on his wedding day to Millie, then recognised: 'I had to beg Millie. 'Millie wasn't too keen at first, she thought it would have been a bad idea, but I feel like it's been such a good idea because I feel like it's changed Ophelia's behaviour. Millie Radford who had first baby at 19 says mum Sue is crazy for having 22 kids & insists she'll stop at three 'She's starting school in September, so I thought it'd help out loads.' Millie's TikTok clip, which she posted on her official account @ has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 134,200 views, 5,452 likes and 76 comments. Who's who in the Radford family? The Radfords are Britain's biggest family with 22 children. Here are the kids from eldest to youngest include: Chris - born May 7, 1989 Sophie - born December 13, 1993 Chloe - born July 31, 1995 Jack - born April 9, 1997 Daniel - born March 3, 1999 Luke - born October 1, 2000 Millie Radford - born August 29, 2001 Katie - born November 14, 2002 James - born October 17, 2003 Ellie - born May 6, 2005 Aimee - born April 21, 2006 Josh - born July 3, 2007 Max - born December 11, 2008 Tillie - born May 2, 2010 Oscar - born October 22, 2011 Casper, - born October 3, 2012 Hallie - born June 3, 2015 Phoebe - born July 24, 2016 Archie - born September 18, 2017 Bonnie - born November 6, 2018 Heidie - born April 3, 2020 Millie's fans were overjoyed by the couple's latest 'addition' to their brood and many eagerly raced to the comments to express this. One person said: 'So cute.' Another added: 'Aww lovely your little new addition.' They will probably abandon that dog when they go on their millionth holiday TikTok user A third commented: 'Lovely puppy.' Meanwhile, someone else wrote: 'She's adorable.' How does family-of-22 the Radfords afford to live? AS Britain's biggest family, it may come as no surprise that Sue and Noel Radford must have some hefty bills. Between them, they have a whopping 22 children and seven dogs, which often has some people wonder how they manage their money. The Radfords support themselves with the proceeds of Noel's bakery, The Radford Pie Company, which is located near their home. On their website, it says: 'We have owned our own lovely bakery since 1999 which is how we manage to provide for (and feed) our huge and expanding family as well as for the local people of Heysham and Morecambe.' The family expanded their business to cater to online orders placed across the UK. The business is a family affair, with Noel at the helm, and some of their children helping out. The older kids, who are working at least part-time, don't get a free ride as they're made to pay a small amount of rent to their parents. "Us older ones do pay a little bit of board. Granted it's not a lot but I'm also trying to save up for my own house at the moment.' their daughter Chloe said in a video on the YouTube channel. Sue added: "We've always said if you want to buy somewhere, renting is a bit of dead money, so we'd rather you saved that money up and stayed at home a bit longer. 'I also do believe they should pay board if they are earning. We've always been brought up by our parents that we had to pay board.' Noel and Sue famously don't rely on benefits for their bumper brood and live off their pie shop for income. They also revealed they make money from brand partnerships on social media. The Radford family stars in their own reality TV show 22 Kids and Counting - which has run for four series. Brand expert Andy Barr believes Noel and Sue have been paid less than £10,000 for each show. He told the Daily Mail: "The typical fee per episode is going to be in the thousands rather than the tens or hundreds of thousands that people often think is the case with TV shows of this nature. "If they continue to get commissioned for a fourth or fifth season, then they are going to be able to command a higher fee." He estimates that the Radfords make £ 5,000 an episode. Whilst one user beamed: 'The dog and kids can grow together and learn with each other." However, at the same time, one user snapped: 'They will probably abandon that dog when they go on their millionth holiday.' But to this, Millie confidently wrote back and set the record straight, as she claimed: 'We ain't going on holiday this year.'
