Luka Doncic credits his new physique to nutrition and training

Independent6 days ago
Lakers star Luka Doncic has unveiled a significantly more muscular physique, which he attributes to an intense training and diet regimen during the off-season.
His transformation was showcased in a Men's Health cover story, where he discussed his commitment to a gluten-free, low-sugar diet and two daily workouts.
Fans have reacted enthusiastically to Doncic's new look, widely dubbing it a 'revenge body' following his trade from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers in February.
The trade, which saw Anthony Davis move to the Mavericks, reportedly stemmed from concerns within the Mavericks organization about Doncic's weight and conditioning.
Despite fan backlash, Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison defended his decision to trade Doncic, stating he had 'no regrets' and that the move was in the team's best interest.

Las Vegas Raiders safety Lonnie Johnson Jr breaks his leg after brutal collision with Maxx Crosby in practice

Raiders safety Lonnie Johnson Jr. broke his right leg during a mock game in Las Vegas practice on Saturday, according to multiple reports. Johnson, 29, was carted off the field after colliding brutally with defensive end Maxx Crosby while attempting to tackle running back Raheem Mostert. The six-year pro will reportedly undergo an MRI exam to determine if there is any additional damage. Depending on the severity of the injury, including if surgery is required, recovery could range anywhere from 10 weeks to six months. After his suffering the devastating injury, he took to X on Saturday and wrote: 'Imma soldier [on] chin up chest out - God got me'. Johnson signed as a free agent with Las Vegas this year after playing last season in Carolina, putting pen to paper on a one-year contract. He started once for the Panthers and played in 15 games, making seven tackles. #Raiders safety Lonnie Johnson Jr. left the team's mock game on a cart. He has been competing on the second team in practices for Las Vegas, but has been with the starters when they have gone to nickel defenses. The Raiders, who are co-owned by legendary quarterback Tom Brady, play their first preseason game on Thursday August 7 against the Seattle Seahawks. After more preseason outings against the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals, they begin the 2025 NFL season away to the New England Patriots. Home fixtures against the Los Angeles Chargers and Chicago Bears, as well as road trips to the Washington Commanders and Indianapolis Colts, make up their first five games of the year. Ahead of the new season, Brady was seen mingling with Raiders players - including star tight end Brock Bowers - in a shock appearance at training camp this week. It was his first public appearance at practice since NFL owners last year approved his bid to become a minority owner in the team. Brady and his partner Tom Wagner own 10 percent of the Raiders, with the seven-time Super Bowl winner holding a 5 percent stake in the franchise.

Six-run inning helps Red Sox complete sweep of Astros

August 3 - A six-run fourth inning helped the Boston Red Sox defeat the visiting Houston Astros 6-1 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep. Boston's fourth inning included a balk, a wild pitch, a passed ball and a throwing error by Houston starting pitcher Framber Valdez. The balk and the throwing error each allowed a run to score. Boston received an RBI single from Trevor Story, an RBI single from Ceddanne Rafaela, a sacrifice fly from Connor Wong and a RBI groundout from Rob Refsnyder in the inning. Wilyer Abreu was also credited with an RBI when Valdez couldn't handle his bunt and Rafaela scored. Abreu reached first on the play. Rafaela collected three of Boston's eight hits in the win. Story went 2-for-4. Boston's Lucas Giolito (8-2) turned in a dominant performance on the mound. He pitched a season-high eight innings and held Houston to a run on three hits. Giolito, who threw 103 pitches (67 strikes), struck out four and walked one. Chris Murphy pitched a scoreless ninth for the Red Sox. Valdez (11-5) surrendered six runs (four earned) on seven hits in six innings. He struck out three and walked one. Houston's Kaleb Ort and Nick Hernandez each tossed an inning of scoreless relief. Carlos Correa hit a solo home run that put Houston in front 1-0 in the top of the fourth. It was Correa's eighth home run of the season and his first since he was re-acquired by the Astros at the trade deadline. Correa has four home runs against Giolito, which is more than he has against any other MLB pitcher. Jose Altuve (single) and Jesus Sanchez (double) had the only other Houston hits. The Astros have lost eight of their last 10. Boston outscored Houston 15-5 in the series. The Red Sox have won five games in a row and seven of their last eight. --Field Level Media
