ITV have announced a big shake up to their morning scheduling, meaning we'll see less of Lorraine Kelly on our screens.

ITV will be making some big changes to their morning programming, with scheduling and production of their daytime shows taking the hit. From January 2026 shows like Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women will face major changes.
The main impact on the daytime schedule will be Lorraine, the 9am chatshow hosted by veteran host, Lorraine Kelly. As Good Morning Britain is due to run for 30 minutes longer, from 6am to 9.30am, Lorraine's airtime will be cut by 30 minutes.

With the changes it will run for 30 minutes from January. ITV have said that the efficiencies gained from the changes in the production of these shows will be reinvested in other genres like drama after the success of Mr Bates vs The Post Office.

Other genres they plan to invest in are sports, reality and entertainment. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter .
As well as its change of run time in the new year, Good Morning Britain (GMB) will be produced by ITV News at ITN by a dedicated team at their base at Gray's Inn Road in London. It is said that this change will see ITV bring all its national news gathering into one hub.
This means that the journalistic and production resources will already be in place for national news bulletins and for their digital platforms including ITVX.

Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women will continue to be produced by ITV Studios, although they will be broadcast from a new location in central London. The studios are consulting with its daytime teams about a proposal that from 2026 would see the three shows produced by one team.
Lorraine's new slot, 9.30am-10am, will run on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year. This is said to align with the lead Daytime presenters who host their shows around a seasonal pattern rather than throughout the year. During the weeks Lorraine is not on air, Good Morning Britain will run for an additional half an hour from 6am to 10am.
This Morning will remain in its 10am-12.30pm slot on weekdays throughout the year. On the other hand, much like Lorraine, Loose Women will also be on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year and air between 12.30pm and 1.30pm . This was how it was originally scheduled until 2016, when they changed it to become an all year round chat show.

Managing Director of ITV's Media and Entertainment Division, Kevin Lygo explained: "Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres.
"These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever."
It is said that the changes will allow for more investment in coverage of the biggest sporting events like next year's football World Cup as well as the UK's biggest reality and entertainment shows, and will strengthen ITV's ability to continue to attract the biggest commercial audiences both on linear channels and online through ITVX.

Kevin added: "I recognise that our plans will have an impact on staff off screen in our Daytime production teams, and we will work with ITV Studios and ITN as they manage these changes to produce the shows differently from next year, and support them through this transition.
"Daytime has been a core element of ITV's schedule for over 40 years and these changes will set ITV up to continue to bring viewers award winning news, views and discussion as we enter our eighth decade."
These changes will form part of a renewed agreement between ITV and ITN, for ITN to produce national, international, London and digital news for ITV for at least the next five years.

James Martin says 'goodbye' as he makes emotional career announcement

James Martin confirmed that ITV's Saturday Morning would be taking a break with him and the rest of the crew for the summer holidays James Martin has announced he's taking a well-deserved break from his popular ITV cooking show, Saturday Morning, as he and the team enjoy some summer downtime. Wrapping up today's episode, the celebrity chef expressed his gratitude: "That's all we have got time for today, a massive thank you to all of my guests." ‌ He gave a shout-out to his culinary squad: "My food team, you can sleep better now. Daniel and Sally, and of course, Harry Redknapp and Carly Paoli." ‌ James then revealed the season's end: "That is also for the series. Me and the crew are heading off on sunny holidays. Different climates." In a light-hearted exchange with one of the crew, James inquired about holiday destinations, learning that one was off to Portugal, while he himself would be heading to Yorkshire, reports Devon Live. But we will be back here with more top chefs, other brilliant guests, and more delicious recipes later on in the year." "Can I just say if your two sons don't want to do this, you call me," he offered. He then laughed and mused over an enticing possibility: "I might retire here. I could be over there, I could be doing this, it is fantastic." James Martin's Saturday Morning is available to watch on ITVX.

Period drama 'like Downton Abbey' with 'wealth of talent' now streaming on Amazon Prime

More info It seems Julian Fellowes' affinity for period dramas knows no bounds. The mastermind behind hits like Downton Abbey, Gosford Park, The English Game, and The Gilded Age has conjured up another captivating tale, Belgravia, set in 19th century England. This six-part drama kicks off with a pivotal historical event - the Duchess of Richmond's ball in June 1815, which took place just 48 hours prior to the Battle of Waterloo. At its core, Belgravia revolves around the intricate lives of the Trenchard and Bellasis families, expertly navigating a complex web of scandals, romance, societal pressures, and class politics, quintessential elements of the period drama genre. Under the creative guidance of Fellowes, and directed by John Alexander, Belgravia is an adaptation of Julian's 2016 novel of the same name. Notably, it brings together the same production team that brought Downton Abbey to life, reports the Mirror US. Widely regarded as the champion of period dramas, comparisons to Julian's monumental success with Downton Abbey are almost unavoidable. Weighing in on this very aspect in an interview with Town and Country, Julian said: "I think [Belgravia] it's darker than Downton. "The servants are working people; they're doing their jobs because those are the jobs that were available. It's not sentimental. "It's a sharper world." The limited series first aired in the UK on ITV on 15 March 2020, and made its US debut on Epix on 12 April 2020. A sequel series, Belgravia: The Next Chapter, was quickly greenlit and announced in September 2022, with the show making its premiere on ITV in January 2024, under the pen of Helen Edmundson. The cast boasts a wealth of talent, including Alice Eve, Ella Purnell, Tamsin Greig, Richard Goulding, and Emily Reid, alongside Tom Wilkinson, Harriet Walter, Philip Glenister, and Tara Fitzgerald. Critics have had varied responses to the show, with one saying: "Belgravia has all the touchstones of a bodice-ripper. Great romance and thrilling revenge. "And the usual coterie of leaching and sneering in-laws." Another critic commented: "Though billed as a showcase for state-of-the-art costume drama, the six-part bonnet-fest feels more like a one-stop shop for all the worst excesses and boredoms of a genre that has outlived its usefulness." A different review wrote: "Belgravia is gorgeously appointed, it's romantic enough, it's grounded in the manners of a far more delicate time when everyone stood six-feet apart lest they bump hands." While another critic observed: "Belgravia errs on the wrong side of that divide, but it is so well-appointed that it is never less than beautiful to watch, just like 'Downton'. "For some, the finery will win out over refinement." Audience feedback leaned towards the positive, with one viewer exclaiming: "Incredible show! "Nothing was obvious, it kept the audience in suspense until the very last minute. Loved the complexity of the characters, the authenticity of the costumes and overall atmosphere. "Highly recommend!". Meanwhile, another wrote: "Wonderful series! "The storyline is gripping from the very first episode. There is no woke political ideology that spoils so many films and series these days. "Brilliant, authentic acting and casting in the excellent period production. So many movies and series try and fail to promote female empowerment; however, Belgravia delivers this message superbly." Belgravia is available to buy on Amazon Prime Video.

Holly Willoughby's plans unveiled as she's left without upcoming TV show

Holly Willoughby has been an ITV staple for the last few decades but it looks like she won't be on our screens in the near future Holly Willoughby's career plans for the future have reportedly been unveiled as she's been left without an upcoming TV show. The star has been a staple on our screens for years but it seems that she hasn't got any upcoming projects for us to look forward to. The 44-year-old is now at a point in her career where she hasn't got a programme lined-up for the first time in 21 years. This comes as her usual presenting gig on Dancing On Ice has come to an end as the show has been axed. ‌ Holly's other job hosting Bear Hunt with Bear Grylls also won't be happening again as that's been axed as well. She has also chosen to leave You Bet! which means Stephen Mulhern will be hosting the show alone. ‌ It has been reported that Holly's husband Dan Baldwin is working on a reboot of Record Breakers which means Holly could be in with a chance of a presenting job. The Sun reported that a source said it would make "perfect sense" for Holly to be up for the role. They said: "Record Breakers is likely to be a prime time hit and it would make perfect sense for Holly to take the reins. She has worked alongside Dan before and the pair know what it takes to make great telly." Holly has also been in amongst a few names that could be hosting the reboot of Cilla Black's Blind Date. Other celebs that could be up include Claudia Winkleman and Davina McCall. Another show Holly is being looked at for is a new Channel 4 programme where new undiscovered singers are found. Holly first returned back to TV last year after taking an 18 month break. ‌ It has also been reported that ITV are keen to keep Holly as she recently met with Katie Rawcliffe, director of entertainment and daytime about future opportunities. An insider revealed: "Holly always intended to lock in new presenting roles for ITV, which has been her home for so long. She didn't have anything confirmed earlier this year just due to the way the cards had fallen, but there are a string of exciting projects on the table and 2025 is looking good for Holly. "Holly is looking to the future and this week's meeting was a big part of that. It won't be a return to daytime programming but new entertainment formats." The meeting coincided with a documentary about Holly's kidnapping airing. ‌ Holly declined to participate in Channel 5's documentary, The Plot To Kill Holly Willoughby, which told the story of the plot by obsessed security guard Gavin Plumb to kidnap, rape and murder her. The traumatic experience is what led her to step down from her role on ITV1's This Morning and take a break from television altogether.
